Health Class ((Years 5-7))

First topic message reminder :

The Great Hall was arranged differently than usual for health class: the tables remained, except two were put away to leave plenty of empty floor space. Pulled in front of the high and staff tables was a large, extending portable chalkboard that already has his name written and illustrations of birds and bees drawn. Frederick was keeping his makeshift classroom practical and straight to the point; the kids were at Hogwarts to LEARN, not be swept up in the aesthetics of a room or anything flashy that'd distract from the valuable lessons he was about to teach.

As the fifth to seventh years filed into the Great Hall, Frederick waited for all of them to stay standing before instructing, "Okay, class, I am Professor Renshaw, and you WILL be learning the pleasures of life and what NOT to do. If you're a boy, sit at the left table. If you're a girl, sit at the right table. If you're something else, sit where you're comfortable or in the middle aisle. If you do that to fondle your partner, you WILL be separated through force and with a barrier until end of class. NOBODY in this class will have babies. If you already have a baby, my class will teach you how to NOT have another one."

He pursed his lips as he scanned all of the students.

"That being said, whether you abstain or choose to do the deed, my teachings will help you make smarter decisions. Once everyone's seated, the lesson will start."

Comarth was too busy muttering curses, amongst other things, to think about raising his hand. Not that he needed to.

Darcy raised his hand in a so-so way. He did attend a muggle school, but he probably knew less than some of the other boys his age.

Jeneva was too occupied with checking her cuticles to wonder if she needed to raise her hand.

"I am... kinda. I just don't want to be picked on to go to the front of the class!" she whispered frantically to Emery.

Cernunnos raised his hand extremely high. "Do Twitter threads count as education? I'm not into girls, even though they're all so cute and I love them, but I read a thread on how to eat one out~!"

Thalia played it safe and didn't raise her hand - most weren't.

"Yeah - I don't have a clue what he's talking about."

It was the three Ps when it came to resources into sexual education. Parents, peers and what rhymed with corn.

Mackenzie balled up a piece of parchment and sent it flying to Tiernan with a glare that said, "Shut the fuck up and knock it off." She couldn't deal with his childish games right then.

Noticing that most students weren't putting their hands up, Frederick nodded before moving onto his next question.

One that could be considered invasive.

"How many of you have done the deed or banged one out? I understand if you don't answer, but I have to know what I'm working with so my lessons can resonate for every single one of you."

Mackenzie bit st her lower lip and kept her hand down. She didn't want to answer that question, nor let anyone know tthat she had no experience. Especially Tiernan.

Siobhan wasn't really ashamed. It wasnt a mystery that hers and Wade's had beebeen a highly sexual one  she simply leaned back in the chair and raised her hand slightly, her eyes flickering over to Wade then back forward.

She felt compelled to stand up and walk out at that very moment. But now her anger was mounting at the ongoing humiliation. What was Riddle thinking, hiring this man to ask personal questions like that in front of everyone?

"No one has to answer that," she said rather confidently to the girls surrounding her, for a moment not worrying whether they were friend or foe. Perhaps she had said it a little too loudly, but the frost was seeping through her palms to Sakura's and she couldn't hold back.

Jerome kept his hand raised, unfazed. He did feel a little bit sorry for shier people though, and the girls. To show that he certainly wasn't judgemental of them, he kept his eyes facing forwards. Everyone else was taking a look around to see who was and wasn't raising their hand, he supposed.

"What the fuck? That's not a normal question to ask!"

Thius glared at the professor unable to believe the audacity. "I, as Head Boy, declare that you just teach us today's lecture than ask questions nobody wants to answer! Would you like it if we asked you about your private life?"

This was outrageous enough for him to actually use an expletive. For one, he wasn't going to admit to anything that could easily end up in the rumor mill. His family didn't need to know what he did when they were all asleep! And he certainly wasn't going to let anything that'd give the worthless population of the school an excuse to bully his girlfriend because of her family slide.

He kept his hand raised.

"Yeah it was over McLaggen's Mum, just so everyone knows."

"MacKenna's Mum," he clarified, raising his arm.

As usual, Copelyn had her nose down in a linguistics book. She was too absorbed to notice the chaos around her at the girls' table.

Mackenzie's face turned a bright red at Tiernans comments. She knew he was playing off of Mackenna, but it was still embarrassing to her. She glared at him before kicking her feet off the table, "This is ridiculous and wildly inappropriate. Does my father know you are asking us these types of questions? I highly doubt it."

Her eyes widened as the frost radiated onto her hand. She began to shiver slightly under her robes, finding herself freezing. Sakura then opened her mouth slightly when she heard Thius cuss. Was the professor really acting unusual for Britain for them to be reacting this way? She looked out for her brother, to try and read his feelings.

Amused by his students' reactions, Frederick began to laugh at them.

"And that, class, leads into today's lesson on respect and CONSENT. C-O-N-S-E-N-T. It is one of the most important things you'll learn sitting in here this term. You can thank him," he stated, pointing at Wade, "...for kicking things off with that question of his. Who can tell me the definition of 'consent'?"

Mackenzie huffed and sasat back down, her arms now crossed over her chest and Magnus at her feet. Knowing her familiar was nearby helped her keep her cool on this clown of a professor.

Serena thought everyone was acting rather childish. She raised her hand at the professors question, "Consent is a verbal permission or agreement to engage in something, in this situation, sexual intercourse with another person."

"That's exactly it! Before you do the deed, you have to receive the other person's enthusiastic consent. If you don't, that's rape. If they take it away, you stop. Simple concept."

Frederick saw the color of her tie and nodded in approval, pacing around the chalkboard, writing the word consent in all capitals on the board then circling it. "That is 10 points to Ravenclaw. Who would like to explain why my anger-inducing question is an example of not receiving consent?"

Already lost to this class, Comarth started sketching out various things at the corner of a side of parchment, making out that he was quietly taking notes. There were textures of dragon eggs he drew, short designs of different ring settings, and occasionally he jotted down the odd word that has nothing to do with the lesson.

He didn't understand what the connection was between everything being said so far, nor did he particularly care to know.

Aside from the banter (which the teacher had absolutely no problem with, oddly enough), Tiernan stretched back and took a casual glance over to the girls' table. Mackenzie still looked rather annoyed, and he'd heard her outburst amongst all his and MacKenna's japing. Actually, she sort of seemed not okay. Tiernan gave her an encouraging sort of smile across the way.
