Chance meeting [James]

Gabby sat in one of the compartments, her head turned to look out the window as the train sped along the tracks. For a short time it was peaceful until a group of first years wandered into the compartment and sat down. With her father being headmaster and all it wasn’t like she could just threaten them to get them to leave so she endured their chaos for as long as she could before standing up and walking out of the compartment to see if she could find somewhere quieter or at least some more favorable company.

James didn't know if he was ever going to sit down during the trip; it was much more fun to just walk around with his guitar wrapped around him. Who knew who he could encounter? Then again, the main drawback was that any one of them could end up blabbering to the tabloids, so he would just have to control his filter; he didn't want to accidentally slip out something that he didn't want the wizarding world to be privy to.

He strummed his guitar in a somewhat predictable rhythm before stopping at one of the Riddle sisters. James didn't know her too well despite being in the same year, but she seemed tolerable enough. "Which Riddle are ya again?"

Gabby could hear some sort of music coming from somewhere. It wasn't a full song like one would expect from a record but just like someone strumming on a guitar. It got a little louder and she looked up to see none other than James Potter was the source of the would. Gabby had no particular problem with James but she couldn't help but to frown when he spoke to her, asking which Riddle she was. "Gabby. Can I help you with something?" She said, a brow raised. As if she was just the same as her sisters or something to the point that they couldn't be told apart!

James shrugged as he plucked a few strings. "Er, I dunno, ya were just in my way."

Normally, he would've tried to attempt some surface level flirting, but something about the thought of flirting with her made him want to hurl. It wasn't because she was a Riddle either the way her older twin sisters would always hit on him. So, he wasn't going to try and activate his charm. It would just be a normal conversation.

"I'm surprised you ain't got an entourage. I thought bein' headmaster's daughter made ya popular by default?"

Gabby frowned when he accused her of being in his way. She didn't think she was in the way, she was as close to the wall as she could get as she waited for her best friend to show up so that they could make the trip back to school together. "Well, excuse me." She said with only a bit of sarcasm. She couldn't help it.

A huff of laughter left her lips. "Guess I'm not the entourage type. I'm surprised to see you without your little followers though." Because Gabby wasn't the type to enjoy the company of large groups, she liked keeping her friend group small.

James looked beside and then behind him and shrugged. "Er, I ain't really a leader type o' bloke. I don't even want followers. They just wanna use me."

Unless by followers she meant...

"Are ya countin' my cousins as 'followers'?"

"Fair enough." Gabby was much the same way. She was sure that she could have a much larger circle if she were to let people use her just as James had suggested that people did with him. She shrugged at his question. "I guess followers wasn't the correct term. Maybe your posse. But yes, one would expect this whole corridor to be clogged with your family as many of them as there is." She didn't mean it rudely... It just seemed odd to see one of the Potters or Weasleys without a horde of them milling around as well.
