New girl (open)

Astrid had only been going to Hogwarts for a few short weeks before the summer vacation the year before so it was still a little daunting when she stepped aboard the train to return. She had made some friends the year before but the whole train ride was all new to her. Somehow along the way she had managed to get separated from Vidar but she talked herself out of going to look for him as she instead decided to try to find an acceptable car to claim a seat in. Every one she came to either had undesirable company or just didn’t suit her standards. She finally found one that was still empty and walked into it. A small look of disdain was given to the faded seat before she decided she just needed to suck it up. She sat daintily, glancing out the window as the train began to leave the station.

Ethan entered the closest compartment when a stink bb filled the halls and the smell got to be too much ich to handle. He quickly she the door as to not allow the fumes entry and gave a crooked smile to the girl he saw sitting in their, "Hi there. Hope ya don't mind. Got a bit smelly out there." He took a seat and pushed his hair from his face, "Names Orion."

Astrid looked away from the window she had been peering out of when she heard the door to the compartment slide shut. Standing there was a very attractive boy who she had yet to properly meet. A small smile came to her lips. “It’s quite alright. It was getting rather lonely in here anyway.” she said in her thick accent. She had been working on trying to sound more like the others who attended Hogwarts but her accent still shone through. “I am Astrid. she introduced herself politely.

Orion raised an eyebrow at the very not English accent she had, it was rather charming, "So where ya from then? With a voice like that I know you're not from around here." He quickly got to his foot and bowed before her, "Pleasure to make your acquaintance Miss Astrid."

“That obvious, huh?” she asked with a bit of a sigh. She tried to blend in with those around her but it was harder than it seemed. “Denmark. My family just moved here at the end of last school year.” she explained as she tucked her hair back behind her ear. Then he was on his feet and bowing before her. A smile came to her lips. “The pleasure is all mine, I’m sure. I can’t say I’ve received quite such a warm welcome until now.” maybe this place wasn’t all that bad after all…

"A bit yes. But the accent is quite charming. I enjoy it." He said looking at her and smirking to himself, he enjoyed quite a few things about her appearance as well. "Denmark. My family has a summer home.tbere. It's quite nice." He chuckled at her and sat back down, "Then you haven't been around the right people, dear."

"Thank you, it is good to know someone appreciates it." She said with a smile, knowing it was probably a silly thing to say but she spoke before really thinking. "I mean, I just worry that people might have a harder time understanding so it is good to know that isn't the case." She explained, hoping to not seem odd to this guy who she did find incredibly handsome. "It is quite lovely. We still have our home there and I visited over the summer but I still miss it now." It had been hard for her to leave her home but she had been the dutiful daughter and gone along with her father's wishes without a fight. "Maybe you could help me figure out who the right people to associate with would be then?" She asked, hoping that he could help her since she really knew no one here and the ones she had met seemed less than desirable for the most part.

Orion chuckled and shook his head, "Do not worry about that. You can be understood just fine. And if they can't understand you, that is their problem; not yours " Orion didn't really comprehend the idea of missing home. His mother was always gone off with some bloke of the week; so he didn't really see much of her in the first place. It was always just him and Maia, the way he preferred. He smiled at her, "I would gladly be of service to you." Helping her find friends or anything she wanted really. He was enamored by her in a way he had never felt before.

“oh, good. I guess I don’t need to fit in with the masses here anyway. she said with a bit of a smile. It was always a tightrope walk trying to figure out when to try to blend in and when to stand out. Especially for someone like her, a rich pureblood. Her smile only grew when he spoke once more. “I will be forever in your debt for your assistance.” rather formal, but it is what was expected of her and she was quite happy to have some help navigating this new world that was Hogwarts.

Orion smirked as he looked her over, thinking of all the ways she could repay such a debt. His thoughts were anything but pure, but of course he did not speak on his thoughts; it would be ungentlemanly of him. "Do you enjoy any hobbies?" He asked, wondering if she was a shop with daddy's money kind of girl or a book nerd or something else all together.

Astrid of course had no idea that he was twisting her words in his own mind… she was quite sheltered and naive in that department seeing as even a chaste kiss would be frowned upon by her father and she didn’t want to have him find out and cut her off by any means. Then he asked about her hobbies and she thought for a moment. “I quite enjoy traveling and shopping, parties.” she named off some of the things that came to her mind. She was always the one trying to get her twin to have fun so she did find enjoyment in quite a few things but she didn’t want to bore him by any means. “May I be so bold as to ask what hobbies you enjoy?” she asked in a demure manner. She was interested in getting to know Orion but she didn’t want to seem too nosey or anything.

Orion chuckled and smiled, "Of course you do. That lifestyle fits you very well. Better find a man with money to keep up with it." He was joking of course, partially. When she asked him of his own hobbies, he thought for a moment, "I play quidditch some times. Never the house time though, mostly just pick up games with my mates. I also write and sometimes I paint." They weren't the most manly of hobbies, but they were what he had grown up learning under the care of his grandmother when his mother would disappear for days on end. "I can also play the piano."

Astrid gave him a little smile. “Of course, daddy wouldn’t settle for anything less.” she said, knowing from the time she was a little girl that he would marry her off to one of his business partners’ sons or something like that. He had made it no secret to her that she would be arranged, that there were things expected of her and that in return for being a dutiful daughter and going along with his plans she would live a comfortable life. Astrid was a little surprised when he spoke of his hobbies, though. “Really? Maybe you can show me some of your paintings sometimes? Or I would love to hear you play.” Astrid wasn’t the most artistic of people but she did appreciate art and music. Orion was becoming even more intriguing to her the more they spoke.

Orion for a moment wished he could be a contender for her heart, but quickly cleared his throat and the thought, that was ridiculous. "I would be happy to show you some of my work. Perhaps you would allow me to capture your beauty on one of my canvases." He would love to paint her sometime, to capture her glowing aura in a wonderful world of colors for him to create. "Anything you wish." He said so calmly and casually. It almost startled him how at ease he was with her, it was unlike him.

"I would like that very much." She said in regards to both him showing her some of his work and him painting her. She was actually thrilled that he would consider painting her on one of his canvases. He was very charming and seemed to be just the type of guy that her father would approve of her spending time with as long as it was just in a friendly manner which was kind of a bummer since he was definitely someone who would be her type if she allowed herself to admit that she had a type. "I am actually rather excited" To see his work, to have him paint her, maybe just to get to know him a little more and spend more time with him, she didn't really know what she was saying she was excited for. Maybe just a little bit of everything. The return to school was getting much better for her.

Orion smiled at her excitement and found her enthusiasm to be quiet darling. This was the type of girl his grandmother wanted him to bring home. Beautiful, cultured, intelligent and most important of all to Nana, a pureblood. She was his grandmother's ideal bride for him. But he knew that could never happen.... Or could it? He looked over at her again and leaned forward, "What would you say to accompanying me on the first Hogsmeade visit?"

Astrid sat there all primly, her posture perfect as was to be expected while she thought of what she might wear to have him paint her portrait. She had so many lovely outfits she could choose from. She was busy thinking of that and was almost caught off guard when he leaned closer to her. She quickly smiled at his question. “I think that would be lovely. I haven’t really had a chance to visit this Hogsmeade since by the time I transferred I was too busy trying to make sure I was all caught up as far as classes went.” and she thought it would be fun to have him show her around and just to hang out with him in general.

She was an angel, a pure angelic being sat before him. Her beauty was radiant and almost intoxicating. "Wait, you've never been to the village? You have never had a butter beer before? Oh well that will most certainly change. I plan to take you on the best Hogsmeade date ever." He hadn't even noticed he said the word date until it was too late, "Well I mean... You know..." His own cheeks reddened a bit as he chuckled, hoping to ease the awkwardness.

Astrid loved hearing the passion in Orion's voice as he spoke about the village. A smile tugged at her lips. "Nope, never been there." And that smile grew when he called their little outing a date. "It's a date." Astrid confirmed when he seemed a little awkward at what he had proposed. She didn't want him to feel awkward nor did she mind thinking of it as a date.

"I am certainly pleased that I get to escort you on your first visit." He said, with a confident and endearing smile on his face. When she confirmed it would in fact be a date, he felt rather giddy to say the least. And it showed as his smile grew to a genuine grin, "I certainly look forward to it." He said, composing himself once more.

Astrid smiled at Orion, but it wasn’t her normal practiced smile that she used to be polite but instead it was a genuine smile that lit up her eyes. ”I am pleased you will be the one escorting me.” she said in return, she couldn’t wait honestly. ”I am very much looking forward to it as well. Tell me a little about the village?” after all, he seemed to know a decent amount about it and she was curious.

Orions eyes lit up and he began explaining the history of the village and the role it played in the Battle of Hogwarts and it's significance in history. He was a bit of a history nerd, especially the battle of Hogwarts. It helped him feel closer to his father, "Sorry. I get a bit carried away with this stuff." He said, bushing a bit. He still sometimes wondered why the hat had not put him into Ravenclaw.

Astrid might seem like she was some sort of dumb blonde with little more than air between her ears but that wasn’t exactly true. She found some of the facts that Orion gave her about the village to be fascinating. A smile came to her lips when he apologized. ”Don't apologize. I enjoy listening to you speak of the place. I am even more eager to visit now.” she said, hoping that would put him at ease. Even if she did think that the blush on his cheeks was rather adorable…
