Bonnie had a love like most Hufflepuffs for Herbology and the world of plants. They had a lot of good qualities that did such a good contribution to the wizarding world. Her mother taught her that she needed to be proficient in most field of studies, if you wanted to go somewhere in this day and age. She had been tending to her plant and waiting to go hang out with Marilyn and talk about the latest gossip with her.

This year was pretty boring, but talks about people kissing on the Quidditch pitch got around school.

She had been using her wand to cast some care charms, but she heard footsteps, and she turned to see what was going on, and she went back to working on her plant right now. She was determined to get an Outstanding in this class and unlike Luna took her studies very seriously.

Unlike the rest of her siblings.

James went towards the direction of the greenhouses for no real particular reason. Well, there was a reason, but it wasn't for a reason anyone would deem valid. He just wanted a more secluded spot to smoke a cigarette for a few minutes. Just. A. Few. Minutes. All he needed was to soothe that nicotine craving and then he'd be good for a few hours.

That quickly fell to the wayside when he ended up in the company of one of Luna's sisters. He learned quite quickly from Troy that they became talk of the school. All he could hope for was that it wouldn't end up in the tabloids. James was well-aware that they had been itching for any kind of dating news regarding him. It made having flings on the down low complicated.

"You're not gonna ask 'bout me and Luna, are ya?"

Bonnie had heard all about the little kiss and she was more shocked. Her friends saw it as more gossip, but in a way she didn’t want to make a whole tabloid on her older sister. She had other things to focus on, but that was when James had been approaching her in the Herbology classroom.

She looked over and let out a laugh, “I don’t need the entire school knows. My question is what makes you think you can swing with someone like her? She’s friends with Alayna and Carina.” she said giving James a bit of an eyebrow raised with a lot of curiosity right now. “Then again I thought she had a taste in people like Ashton.”

It was quite shocking to say the least.

Of fucking course Bonnie was acting like he couldn't pull Luna. When he was in James Potter mode, he could probably woo just about anyone he desired solely because of his name. And the fact he was actually feeling something for Luna made things more complicated.

It was never supposed to progress to actual dates. He knew he preferred other blokes, what was it about her to be an exception? There was a reason why he quit quidditch in the first place that had nothing to do with his name and legacy.

"Er, it just sorta happened..."

His hand was fiddling inside his trouser's pocket. He wanted that smoke so badly...

Bonnie hadn't been shocked that James was coming off as dumb. Or like he was playing dumb. Typical Potter who spent more time smoking pot, she wanted better for her older sister. “It doesn't sorta happen who started flirting first?” she stated with a bit of a glare.

“My sister is a good girl, maybe a little bit of a bitch at times. She doesn't need someone like you distracting her.” she commented because Luna had been the oldest and she would do anything for her. Well her father had older kids too, before marrying their mother and having more kids.

“Do you like her?”

"Me..? But does it fuckin' matter? I didn't know she'd, er, reciprocate!"

Even someone like him could have failed attempts. Just like with Alayna who sniffed him out. He was fortunate that she wouldn't say anything as long as he never mentioned what he learned about her home life.

And then came the judgment. The fuck was Bonnie's problem? He knew siblings could be protective, he was an eldest sibling after all, but he and Luna hadn't done more than kiss! It didn't even reach snogging! Yet. Rolling his eyes, he answered, "Of course I bloody like her!"

Bonnie had probably listened too much to Marilyn with gossip about the Potters. All she knew that James was a major slacker and her sister was a Quidditch prodigy. She had listened to James, and heard him go on about it being reciprocated, and she let out a bit of a sigh. "I mean I am not shocked. Just don't want to see her hurt."

She loved her sister deeply and knew the world was against her.

"Do you like her enough to not be an arse?" she asked looking at him. "People say you got a knack for not being there for the people who you are supposed to be there for."

That what she heard the Graysons speak about.

He looked at her quite confused. What the fuck? Did she only read the tabloids? Particularly articles by the Graysons?

"Do ya realize how bloody big my family is? I can't fuckin' be with all of them whenever somethin' goes down!"

James squinted his eyes. It was his fucking luck that he'd be grilled to shreds by one of Luna's sisters. ALL OVER A LITTLE KISS! He couldn't do anything!

"Of course I bloody like her!"

He didn't know if Bonnie was going to believe him or not. He was still quite confused, but he knew he liked Luna. That wasn't a question in the slightest.

Bonnie hadn't really ever loved someone to know what it was about. She tended to be someone who wanted to wait for the right time, but she knew it was that time to enjoy her youth. She knew it was like a right of passage for her to enjoy herself and she looked at James, really wishing Luna could do better.

"My family is big, but we are there for each other."

Her family also didn't rise to fame from a simple wizarding war either. Although for Luna she knew that she needed to respect her older sister who she loved very dear.

"Really?"

That was a given question she supposed.

He dropped his shoulders in aggravation.

"Yes, really... Are we just gonna talk in circles? What do I gotta do to prove to ya that I like Luna?"

They barely talked, and James was already annoyed. He needed to make sure to ask Luna if her sister was always like that the next time they linked up. Perhaps they could bond over having an irritating younger sibling.

Bonnie just didn't trust James, but Luna shouldn't be kissing with random guys. She had been tending to her plant and following the directions in her Herbology book. She had looked up at James with an eye roll.

“Take her on a date, that doesn't end in sex.”

Most guys always went for third base and left the girl. Although if a cute guy came along she would probably run. “How did you woo her?”

That was all she wanted? Did she seriously believe most of his flirtations made it to third base? People really did see what they wanted to see!

"Yeah, I'll do that, but, er, it wasn't even snoggin'. It was just a kiss!" James groaned, unable to understand how so many of his peers made it something it wasn't. "Er, I complimented her on the pitch, and we started talkin'..."

Bonnie supposed maybe she was pressuring James, but there was always more to the story. She looked over and listened to what James had to say and thought for a second. “Well was it a good kiss?”

She never had her first kiss to the say the least.

“Well she is hot and one of the best Quidditch players. Just don't sleep with her.” That would make for a good story and she knew most purebloods husband wouldn't see her as eligible due to her being a bastard.

James shrugged. 'Yeah... Why are ya askin' me that?"

He could feel the nicotine craving intensify; he needed the relief, and Bonnie's presence delayed it more and more. What was supposed to be a brief smoke break had turned into a confrontation of some kind. James clenched his jaw, looking completely unamused at the attempt to control what they might do.

"If we sleep together, we sleep together. Why are ya actin' like you're her mum?"

Bonnie knew she was being too hard on James. She looked at him and let out a sigh, but she felt like James was not someone who took things seriously. She stood in silence if James made Luna happy and she sighed, “I don't want Luna getting hurt everyone is talking about how you are dating?”

“I am not her mom, I just love my sister. People like Albus are normal for siblings.”

"We're not dating..? All we did was flirt a lil and kiss."

He definitely wasn't going to mention Luna inviting him to the Room of Requirement. Bonnie didn't need to know about that.

Removing his hands from his pockets, James crossed his arms. "Er, what do ya fuckin' mean by 'normal for siblings'?"

Bonnie felt bad right now, but when did caring become a thing. “How am I supposed to react?”

She was genuinely curious. “Want me to be like oh kiss whoever you want.”
