making amends (amara)

Sitting on his bed that evening, Jerome stared at his crystal sat on top of his pillow. He'd been battling with speaking to Amara but hadn't managed to catch her in the common room or after classes, and he would prefer their conversation was private. The only way would be to call her, and hope she was on her own.

Taking a deep breath, he picked up his crystal and got to her contact, selecting the option to call. After a while, it seemed he'd got through.

"Amara? Are you alone?"

This couldn’t get any better! She could practically hear him squirming on the other end of the line. Obviously, he had to be alone in his room as well or he probably wouldn’t be such a good sport about her teasing him like she did. He probably would have changed the subject or ended the call. Apparently, she was in luck. ”Desperate times, got it. So if it’s like 3am and we have classes in the morning and you’re still laying awake desperate? Or third night no sleep and you’re about to pass out in your cereal the next morning desperate?” she knew she was awful but she was loving every minute of it.

”I guess everyone does from time to time…” she finally relented and agreed. After all, Ashton couldn’t be around all the time, could he?

At least she didn't include 'doing it because you can't have the real thing desperate'. She may as well have - he was mortified.

"Right..." he confirmed, in a sigh. He rubbed his hand over his eyes and down his face tragically.

He blinked at what he next heard. He'd said it himself: everyone does it. But hearing her actually say that was a whole other thing. He could envision her gripping sheets and biting her lip, her breathing laboured and getting faster, uttering a small moan, her cheeks red and flustered. "Yeah...?" he breathed, closing his eyes briefly to try and settle. "Yeah. Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with it..."

Amara smirked at the way Jerome's words sounded as if it were a struggle to even say anything at the moment. She could only imagine the look on his face, it would be the same as when she had teased him mercilessly so many times before, wouldn't it? Oh, how she missed those good times before everything got so complicated.

Of course, she had no idea the images she was conjuring up in his mind. Okay, maybe that was a slight lie because he wouldn't be so uncomfortable with the whole thing if he weren't thinking of someone in such an act. She didn't think it would be her that he was imagining, though. The smirk hadn't left her lips the whole time. "Nope, nothing wrong with it." She confirmed, giving him a bit of a break, or so she thought. "Unless you get caught or something, then it just becomes awkward." She said with a bit of a laugh.
