One of the first things that caught Deryn's attention at Ilvermorny was just how integrated various creatures were on campus; at Hogwarts, any of the animals and creatures were kept away from the students. Everyone at the school came off as being so much nicer too! At Hogwarts, it sort of felt like most people hated each other, which always saddened her as she always tried to spread cheer to everyone! The moment she found out about the campus reserving an area for creatures to roam around, Deryn just had to check it out! She felt bad for the owls back across the pond as they weren't given as much affection since the advent of crystals. This was going to become her go-to spot for relaxing after a long day of classes, even if it was the middle of winter!

She walked down the path to the Creature Garden and grinned the moment she entered the petting zoo of sorts. Making her way over to one of the nifflers, Deryn knelt down. "Hi, little buddy!" How cute!
