Audacity (open)

Alayna had had alot of time to think about everything that had happened at the dance. She didn't really know how to feel about everything so she had put it in a song. She was tired of the audacity of some of the people at this school. Especially potter's. She put her crystal on and listened to the music that flowed out of it. She sighed as she leaned on the piano, just trying to clear her head.

Ever since the events of the dance, Marilyn has been extremely pissed at James. Why does he get away with so much just because of his name and family?! Now her sister's kid was going to be stuck with a druggie deadbeat for a dad! Marilyn walked into the music room after hearing a song; as she entered, she felt a brush against her arm, but there was nobody to be seen. That must've been James! Urgh...

Walking to the piano, Marilyn stated, "I'm on your side, Alayna! It's sickening how that druggie gets away with so much..."

Alayna saw Marilyn come in and was about to tell her to fuck off. But then she said she was on Alaynas side, which caused her to raise an eyebrow in suspicion, "I didn't know you felt that way about James." It was nice to have someone outside of Ptolemy and Carina be on her side. Her brother didn't even support her the way he should right now, "So he really got Evelyn pregnant?"

"He did, and mum's upset about it!" Marilyn began rolling her eyes. Her mum came to Hogwarts with nobody telling her so she could at least say hi? How rude! "We were taught to save ourselves until marriage, yet she spread her legs like that for Potter! He's such an arsehole for leaving my sister alone at the dance like that!"

"Damn that sucks. You're gonna end up related to the potters now." She said with a frown. She thought of Lien and sighed, trying to fight back tears. She really did miss him. She didn't think she would this much. She figured she would just move on, but it wasn't working out that way. "Yeah. He's a prick. Imagine having him steal your boyfriend?" Not that' that's what happened. But that's how she felt.

Marilyn shuddered thinking about it; her mum would've been gentler about the entire situation if it was Louis instead. After all, he was a very nice, respectable boy. James was ergh...

"I don't know why Chang would side with him over you! He was all over you at the dance! I thought he was crazy for you?!"

Why did a good fraction of the school side with James?!

Alayna thought back to the dance and felt the tears really start to well up in her eyes. She had been happy. Genuinely happy. She had felt safe in Liens arms. Like nothing could bother her. She simply nodded. She was afraid that if she spoke her voice would crack. She didn't want to look weak in front of anyone. she took a deep breath and opened her mouth, hoping to God her voice was stable, "I thought he was too." Voice crack. Damn it.

"Do you need a hug, Layna? Us cheerleaders have to stick together!"

Marilyn felt awful seeing the effects James' shit has had on Alayna. Sure, outing him wasn't a good thing to do, but all James had to do was not be awful!

"I'm sure some guy out there will appreciate you more and choose you over a druggie!"

A week ago, Alayna would have laughed at the idea of needing a comforting hug from anyone. But in that moment, all she could do was nod. She went and hugged her, letting a single tear fall from her eye, "I just thought he was different. I didn't think..." Voice crack again. She paused and took a breath, "I just didn't think it would end like this."

Patting Alayna's back, Marilyn felt sick thinking about Potter and his treachery. Why did everyone kiss his ass because he's a Potter? Why did people like him in general? Sure, she thought he was dreamy, but that's all changed with the revelations from the past few days.

"We'll get revenge on James, I promise."

At least she could do something with a future niece or nephew involved. She could be an influence on how involved James would get to be!

Alayna took a step back and shook her head, "No. I don't want revenge. Well, that's a lie. I just... I want Lien back more. And I know getting revenge on James won't help with that. Getting revenge is what got me here in the first place." She said, feeling defeated and sitting back down in her seat, "He won't even look at me anymore. He goes out of his way to avoid me. I can't stand it. I miss him. I just miss him."

"But I can ensure that he won't have a part in raising that child due to how much he's hurt you. Maybe Chang will come around once everything has calmed down!"

Of course, Marilyn was quite unaware of his and James' growing friendship and understanding. She was mainly pissed for her sister after all.

"But if he doesn't come around, you can find a better guy that'll make him jealous! That could bring him back..."

"I don't know. That's his business. I'm just acting like he doesn't exist. That's easiest." When she said Lien might come back, she shook her head, "No. I don't think so. I think that's why it hurts so much." She shrugged when a new guy was suggested, "If it happens it happens. Who knows. If I find some new guy I might not even want him anymore. But I also don't want to just use someone."

Alayna was bit confused. She looked Marilyn in the eye, "How do you propose we do that?" She was curious to see what she could come up with. Maybe she just found herself a new ally.

Marilyn was glad that this seemed like an easier route.

"Well, we'll focus on his worst qualities. It'd be nice if we could find just the right thing to make our house turn completely away from him, but I don't know what it could be..."

If they started within their house, it would have to eventually spread to the rest of Hogwarts.

Alayna pondered for a moment, "Well the gay thing was no avail. I mean, the quidditch locker rooms may be really awkward now. There's the dad thing. If he doesn't show for the kid we could use that." She said, "There's the drug abuse and the drinking problem."

"There has to be something juicier than any of those..."

"Hey, if you have any information I'm all ears." She asked, crossing her arms over her chest. She didn't really care too much about any of this. Now that Marilyn had started her thinking about Lien, she couldn't stop.

"With my journalism talents, I'm bound to find something!" Marilyn grinned thinking of how she can ensure James' reputation will take a tumble. "My mum is one of the major voices behind the Daily Prophet..."

Alayna felt a small smirk hit her lips. Maybe Marilyn could actually be of use, "Arlight then. Do whatever it is what you do. And let me know when you find something. But run it by me first. I don't want to make things worse."

"I figured the dorm would be easiest. Since we share a room and all. It's easier to not leave a paper trail and just cast a notice me not charm when discussing business." She said as if it were obvious.

"Yeah no thanks. Andy's a fucking psycho and Siobhan will probably set me on fire or at least make an attempt. So my dorm is safest." She said, deciding on it.
