making money (hades, riddles)

Employing Hades Gaunt to work on the Riddle gardens was a superb opportunity. He didn’t like to admit that the house elf was overworked, but Lochlan would prefer the house elf kept, well, inside the house. That way she could concentrate on house work and cooking meals.

The gardens covered approximately 450 square foot, although there were lots of nooks and crannies and sheltered pathways weaving through trees and dense bushes. Lochlan loved his garden. He spent a lot of time looking out at it, or in it, particularly through this time of year. He had high hopes for one boy taking on the job: he seemed desperate enough to get the galleons.

”Are you finished with the weeds yet?” He asked, approaching him.

Hades wiped sweat off of his brow a he worked the garden he did not know how he had stooped so low to take a job as a gardener, however he knew that he did not want to continue to live off the family fortune which was dropping day by day. His stripping job could only pay so much and he wanted to get his own place away from everyone, to do that he needed money. He was just nearly finished when he heard the lord of the manor approach.

[b]"Nearly finished sir,"[b] he replied thinking that it would be much easier to get the work done without an interruption, this was one man he could not talk back to he was his employer.

”Oh ‘sir’... hmm,” He pretended to shudder exaggeratedly ”That makes me feel all... tingly. ‘Sir’, yes. Okay. ‘Sir’ indeed...”

He enjoyed bullying him.

”How about you call me ‘master’? How about ‘lord’? ‘Your Excellency’?”

He let out a loud, bark-like laugh. ”I’m just joking with you.” He nudged him rather harshly. ”I told you to call me Lochlan. Now, I don’t mean to be an unfair employer... but you really need to pick up the pace a bit. My daughters especially will be disappointed with a lacklustre garden...” He gave him a disappointed look, and even a little pout. Messing with him was very fun. He was sure his kids would have fun as well.
