Babes and tidal waves (open)

Blake sat back in a seat in a compartment with a few other students. He wasn't really listening to anything that anyone was saying. He was dreading going back to school. It wasn't that he didn't like school or wasn't a good student, it's just that classes cut into his wave time and that was irritating to him.

Teagan walked into the compartment where there were already a few other students. She smiled a greeting to the familiar faces but her attention landed on Blake who looked like he was being tortured rather than happy to be heading back to school for another year. Without asking, she plopped herself on the seat next to him. “Hey, Blake. Why so glum?” she asked, her smile much the same as her older sister’s even if her personality wasn’t quite as over the top cheerful.

Blake perked up when he hears his name and smiled, "Oh hey Teagan, I didn't see you there." He smiled down at her, it was impossible not when she had such a sunny smile and positive attitude. Most of the Munroe girls seemed to have that sort of demeanor, "I'm alright. Just a bit aggravated. I had almost perfected the Flynnstone Flip over the summer. I just needed more time..."

“No worries, I just came in.” she had known he seemed lost in his own little world but he seemed a little happier now so that was a plus at least. She didn’t really like seeing people down in the dumps. “That sucks! But I bet you’ll be able to perfect it come spring break!” she said, trying to at least come up with something positive so he wouldn’t stay aggravated. “Or maybe the room of requirement might be able to make a beach or something? Can it do big things like that?” now she was curious if it could… wouldn’t that be amazing?

Blake could help but smile at her, she seemed to have really grown into herself over the summer. She was, dare he say, flawless. He smiled at her positive aspect and chuckled, "That's one thing about you, can always count on you to cheer me up." He and Teagan weren't that close, but hey; maybe that could change this year. He pondered on her idea of the room of requirement, "I'm not entirely sure. I was gonna try my best at wave simulation at the pool. But that's an idea to look into."

Teagan couldn’t help but to blush when Blake complimented her. Maybe it wasn’t like a huge compliment but to her it was. Lakelyn was always the one of her siblings who was able to cheer everyone up and Teagan always felt like she was just lacking in comparison to her siblings so it was nice to have someone compliment her… especially when that someone was Blake who she had a bit of a secret crush on. “Glad I can help, I don’t like seeing people in bad moods.” she said, looking away to try to hide the fact that she was blushing. Maybe he wouldn’t notice? “Ah yeah, I’ve heard Lakelyn talk about surfing in the pool so I bet you could do it.” she hadn’t meant to bring up her sister but she had known her sister to use the pool to surf when she had free time so she thought she might as well let him know it could be done.

"I doubt anyone could be in a bad mood with you around, Sunflower." It was silly nickname he had thought of on the fly because that's what she reminded him of sometimes. A sunny flower full of hope and positivity. He noticed a scarlet blush crawl across her cheeks but acted as though he didn't when she turned her head, "Perhaps I'll ask her how to do it." He had always admired Lakelyns form on a board.

Teagan felt herself blush even more when he called her by that nickname. She liked it, it made her feel special since she was always just Teagan or Little Munroe to most people. She always felt like she was in her siblings’ shadows, especially being the youngest. She didn’t really know how to respond to the compliment though, so she just smiled over to him. Then the subject changed to something she was much more used to. “I’m sure she’d be happy to help you.” she said, trying not to sound a little bummed that it would be Lakelyn getting to hang out with Blake and teach him something he would enjoy instead of her. Wasn’t that always the way it worked when it came to her? Never as good as her siblings even if she hid it well that she thought that way.

Blake noticed she was a bit flustered and thought it was rather adorable. The way her cheeks reddened and the little smile she got. He was so busy dawning over her he almost didn't hear her speak, "Oh yeah. I'm sure she will, you know how your sister is. You'll be joining us won't you?" He knew Teagan didnt surf much, but maybe he could teach her, it could be their thing. "I'd like it if you were there..." He added to make sure she knew he actually wanted her there, and it wasn't a pity invite.

Teagan was surprised when Blake mentioned her joining them. She hadn't expected him to really want her to be there so maybe he was just being nice? She gave a little smile, trying to think of a way to politely decline since she was sure he didn't really want her there. After all, he would be with Lakelyn so he wouldn't need her around to bother them... He must have seen her apprehension though because he seemed genuine when he assured her that he would like for her to be there. "Yeah, sure. I can come hang out too." She said with a smile, not wanting to be a third wheel or anything since she hadn't really surfed much so she was pretty sure she would just be in the way but she couldn't tell him no. Then there was the fact that it gave her a warm feeling knowing that he really did seem to want her there. "I'm not much of a surfer though. I never really learned how to." She loved the ocean and did a lot of snorkeling and some diving but hadn't ever really surfed. That was always Lakelyn's thing even if she did think it could be fun.

"Maybe I can teach you a few things while Lakelyn teaches me?" He suggested, really wanting to see her on a wave. "I've thought my younger brothers and sisters too. They're all like fish in water though. Do you not enjoy surfing?" He didn't want to force her into doing anything she didn't want to. But he still wanted her to be there, maybe so he could show off a bit, but she didn't need to know that much.

“Hmmm, maybe… then again, I might be completely unteachable.” she hoped that wasn’t the case since she would hate to make a fool of herself in front of him. “I’ve never really tried. It was always Lakelyn’s thing and I knew I could never be as good as her so I never actually tried.” she replied with a shrug of her shoulders. “I do love the ocean though… I usually go snorkeling or diving when I can.” Teagan loved being in the water so if he wanted to try to teach her to surf then she wouldn’t say no.

"No one is unteachable. Except for Laney Demarco. One of my friends little sister. She was truly.... Well awful. She couldn't even get on her knees to catch a wave yet I somehow ended up with a broken nose that summer. So as long as you can do better than that, I can teach you." Blake said confidently with a charming smile.

However, his smile faded when she began speaking ill of herself, "What do you mean never be as good as her?" He didn't like the sound of her talking about herself like that, "I'm sure you can be just as good with time and practice and me." He hadn't realized he had said that last part, "I'll have you riding waves by the end of the year. No problem."

Teagan couldn't help but to be amused by the story he told her about his friend's little sister. She sure hoped that she would be able to do at least a little better than that! "Well, let's hope I don't manage to break your nose." She would feel awful if something like that happened. Even if they did have magic that could heal something like that in a matter of seconds. She just shrugged her slender shoulders. She was used to feeling like she wasn't as good compared to her sisters. Lakelyn was always the golden child who succeeded in almost anything she did, Haven was literally famous... And that was just two of her older siblings! She couldn't help but smile when he talked about having him to help her. She knew that she would love to spend time with him teaching her but he didn't want her to teach him out of pity or anything. "You don't have to teach me, I know you've probably got much better things to do." She might seem like she was confident all the time but in reality, she worried that she would just be a burden.

"I doubt you will." He said, as he smiled at her. He felt very at ease with her, like nothing could really bum him out anymore. He hadn't even noticed that most of the people in the compartment had wandered out in search of other people. He chuckled a bit as he realized and looked at her, "Seems we certainly know how to clear a room, huh?" When she said he had better things to do, "Well yeah, I'm sure I do too. I'll just have to make world peace and create a cure for muggle cancer another day. You're way more important."

Haven was wandering down the hall of the train when she heard a familiar voice paired with an unfamiliar one. She wrinkled her nose with concern before entering the compartment, "There you are. I've been looking everywhere for you!" She announced when she found her little sister with some.... Boy? She narrowed her eyes at him and looked between him and Teagan, "Well don't we look cozy?" She asked, with a raised eyebrow and a hand on her hip.

Teagan hadn’t even realized that the other people in the compartment had left until Blake mentioned it. She laughed a bit. “I guess we do.” she didn’t really mind the fact that they were alone in the compartment. A blush came to her cheeks when he said she was important though. She tried to play it off, knowing he was just teasing her though. “I don’t know, world peace sounds pretty important.” the next thing she knew, someone else was entering the compartment and she looked up to see that it was Haven. She smiled at her older sister but then blushed when she mentioned them being cozy. “Hey, Haven. Have you met Blake? We were just talking about him teaching me how to surf sometime.” she said, trying to make it seem like an innocent thing and hide the fact that she was definitely developing a crush from her older sister.

Blake was about to say something to Teagan when suddenly her sister Haven was there. He had interacted with Haven a few times, but she was so famous and busy, he wasn't offended she didn't remember him. He blushed a bit at the comment of them looking cozy and tried to ease the tension by chuckling awkwardly, "Well it was a lot crowded earlier."

Haven looked the guy, Blake, up and down. What a stupid loser name. Blake. Nope, that was not someone worthy of her baby sister. "If you want to learn to surf why not ask Lakelyn? She's been dying to teach you for years. Suddenly some boy wants to teach you and you're ready to hop on a board?" She was a bit surprised by Teagans lack of self preservation when it comes to people, especially boys.

Teagan smiled a bit over at Blake when she heard his awkward chuckle... A small sigh left her lips when she saw the way that Haven was looking at him all judgy as well. "I just happened to suggest he could ask Lakelyn how she used the pool to surf and he suggested that I come along and he could give me some pointers. No big deal." She said, trying to brush it all off as if just a bit of fun. Really, that was all it was, right?

Blake felt like a bug under a microscope with the way Haven was looking at him. He cleared his throat to try and center himself due to the awkwardness happening around him. "I figured since Teagan didn't know how to surf we could both take the time and opportunities to learn something new. I'm just trying to nail a trick down." He wished Haven would leave so he was alone with Teagan again. Not in that way, at least he didn't think it was in that way.

Haven looked between the two of them and shrugged, "Fine. Whatever you say." She took the spot across from them and kicked her feet up on the empty row of seats, "I figured you'd be busy with... Other stuff?" Haven didn't really know what Teagan was into nowadays. She didn't know what most of her siblings were into anymore. She was always in the studio working or traveling for a tour. The only reason she knew of Teagans surfing and quidditch obsession is because that hadn't changed since they were children.

Teagan wanted nothing more than to reach out and comfort Blake when Haven kept questioning him like he was some sort of criminal or something. She didn’t know what had gotten into her older sister but she felt bad for Blake with the way Haven was staring him down. But she kept her hands to herself and just gave Blake an apologetic look when Haven wasn’t looking at her. Teagan shrugged when her sister sat down and made herself comfortable. ”Nothing really to keep me too busy at school aside from my classes and all.” it wasn’t like she could really go scuba diving through the year or just hang out on the beach, two things she often spent her time doing. ”So, I thought I might try something new.”
