First topic message reminder :

It was definitely past curfew, but James wasn't too bothered by that. As he was missing in action while still in school, he didn't necessarily feel bound by the constraints of rules. He could easily return to attending classes if he wanted to, but James decided that it'd feel more phoenix-like if he returned to regular student life following the imminent match. It was thrilling to think about being able to piss Alayna off if he returned in a much better state than whatever she was dealing with. Of course, the reason why James was feeling absolutely jubilant was that he took a magic bean and snorted some pixie dust for the hell of it. His imagination has gotten to him earlier, and he was laughing away at jokes a snake was telling him.

This was definitely one of his better experiences. Oh if only he could be laughing at these jokes with Lien...

Merlin, he was going to be quite the father.

Ha.

He was so occupied with the snake banter that he didn't hear footsteps approaching his direction.

"You can communicate with snakes. It's a language that I've seen Matilda and Medea Riddle speak before. Matilda told me that it is something that is genetic, and follows certain blood lines. She said that she doesn't realise that she is speaking in a different language: it all just sounds like English to her. Is that how you feel as well?"

Louis went over to him, smiling kindly. He wasn't too wary of the snake having met that particular one before. It belonged to Mackenzie. Perhaps it had escaped... which would be rather unsettling for some of the other students.

"Look up," he said suddenly, touching James's face. He wanted to check his eyes. "And your tongue out, please."

"Er, yeah, guess so. Sorta assumed it was me hallucinatin', so I went wit it. Nothin' abnormal to me..."

As his mood quickly dampened, James realized his magic bean high was finally wearing off. It felt awful whenever it got to that point.

"Aight, healer Lou Lou."

James raised his head up and stuck out his tongue.

He checked his tongue, and the back of his throat.

"You're dehydrated."

He smiled slightly at him.

"Lily and I are a little worried about your drug habits, James." He didn't normally have things to worry about. When he did, it concerned others. He had been worried about James since the incident of the dance, but at the same time he'd respected his wishes to keep away.

"Could you ask the snake to stop going up my trouser leg?" he asked, as it appeared to be doing just that. Louis just kept very, very still.

Dehydrated? How long has it been since he last drank water? He never made the effort to keep track of that as with most things.

James glanced at his cigarette and saw that it had shortened before he could take another drag. Ugh. Lifting the toilet lid, he threw the cigarette in it and flushed. He didn't feel like getting up from where he was sitting.

"Get away from Lou Lou's trousers, what are ye doin'?"

Tilting his head, James rolled his eyes before looking back up at Louis. "Think the bugga 'eard too much from Matilda..."

He could feel the snake descending again. Fred would have had a field day with innuendo surrounding that, but Louis clearly made no connection with a snake to his trousers.

"James," he said pointedly, and didn't normally press in such a way. "Did you hear me? About the drugs? You need to slow down..." he went on sadly, his long lashes fluttering against his cheekbones.

Again about the drugs?

"I don't 'ave a bloody problem, Lou Lou..."

Lily had had enough of this, "You do have a problem James! It's almost every day you're on some sort of drugs. And it scares me. I'm scared. I'm scared I'm going to find you dead one day from an overdose." She had tears in her eyes and she quickly wiped them away, "James, please...."

"If you were taking them for a party just to feel a little more excited every now and then, there wouldn't be any harm in it. But those things could have an impact on your body if you take them too often," He put his arm around Lily, and held her close to his side comfortingly, "But you are taking them a lot more than once a week. From the sounds and looks of things, it's daily. You are taking them for the wrong reasons. It's not recreational, it's a method of coping. You can't do that to yourself."

James could not believe what he was hearing. Were they seriously believing all those headlines painting him as an addict? What the fuck. Sure, he could relax some, but he hardly took drugs on the days he couldn't bring himself to do anything. It felt awful, but he was in a crap state altogether then.

"Ye can't be serious... Ye can't..."

How well does his family actually know him?

Lily curled into Louis side and tried to catch her breath again. She had gotten worked up and was feeling really emotional. She didn't have any words to say. When James started denying he had a problem, she managed to find her voice, "James....were very serious. I've considered writing mum because I don't know what else to do to help you."

"Perhaps you could try to see how you can get along without them? I could help you."

He had already tried to read up some things about potion and drug dependency. The chemical side of the addiction was fairly simple to deal with, as there were potions that helped with that. But it was the association more than anything. James was taking it because he was bored, or stressed, or confused, or angry, or whatever.

"Lily is right to think about writing to your Mum."

He was absolutely bewildered at what he was hearing. What was this? An intervention? What the fuck. James scratched his head trying to figure out how to respond. Nothing can only be his business. Everything he did was always up to scrutiny, even from his own family. James would understand their concerns if they actually followed him every minute of the day to see what he did, but part of the reason why he hid was to avoid such a thing. He didn't think there was anything he could say to get them to change their minds.

"I didn't ask for a bloody, unnecessary intervention. Fuck sake..."

Lily decided that she would write a letter to their mother. But she would wait to send it. If James showed improvement she would burn the note, "it's not intervention. It's just us being concerned about you James and trying to help." She was really worried about James.

Louis just gazed at him worryingly and continued holding onto Lily.

"There are better coping methods..."

He really didn't see that he had a problem, and that was the most worrying thing. Louis had read that this can happen. He didn't enjoy being hard on anyone, but he had to keep it up if James were to change his habits.

He smoked daily for relaxation purposes. That was his main vice. James glanced away from the two finding himself to be at odds with them

"I don't know, James. All I know is I'm scared. I'm really fucking scared. Is that what you want?" She hated crying. It made her face all red and splotchy and it was not a cute look on her. She looked at Louis, "I cant...." She didn't know how to finish the sentence.
