Lost in the stacks (open)

Carina knew she had to brush up on her potions skills in order to talk to professor Maddox about extra training so she could then go to Healer Ashton about her internship. She needed these on her application for when she applied for st mungo's next year. But potions was just so confusing sometimes. She rubbed her temples and sighed as she read yet another advanced potions book she had found. Maybe she should find a new dream besides being a healer. If she couldn't even handle advanced potions, how was she supposed to save someone's life?

After what Mackenzie had said on the train, Louis had thought about Carina Malfoy and her ambitions. He didn’t know her too well, much like Mackenzie herself really, but he was always willing to lend a helping hand to people if they needed it. When he spotted Carina inside of the library, he made way towards her desk, smiling down at her.

“Hello Carina,” he greeted brightly, “How are you doing?”

Carina looked up and smiled ,"Oh. Good evening, Louis." Louis Weasley was talking to her. She had had a crush on her since her first year. He was just so handsome. "I'm doing well. How are you?" She asked, moving her hair from in front of her face. What was going on? Why was he talking to her? Not that she minded, "Would you like to take a seat?"

Louis beamed at her.

"Thank you," he said, taking a seat on her invitation. "I'm very well, thank you. Oh," he looked at the text book she was reading from and smiled triumphantly: "So you're doing potions today. Do you need any help with it? Mackenzie told me that you wanted to be a healer when you left Hogwarts. That's great."

He was smiling brightly at her.

"you talked to Mack about me?" She asked, a bit confused. What was Mackenzie up to? "yeah. I want to be a healer. But I'm rubbish at potions. So I'll take all the help I can get." She smiled and scooted the book between the two of them, "Are you good at potions? I'm rather horrible. I definitely did not get my dad's knowledge for potions."

"That's right," he said brightly, smiling. "Well, I think the best way to approach potions is to not get caught up in any negativity surrounding it. It's fiddly and mistakes can so easily happen, so it's worth just taking all those ideas you have in your head about being rubbish and putting them to one side. Everyone has made mistakes with potions, as that's how some of the best ones have been created - by accident."

Louis smiled warmly, and drew his seat in a lot closer to her.

"I think it's important to believe in yourself first, that you can do it, before we give it a real go. We can set up a cauldron in the study area if you like." He beamed at her.

He was so kind and gentle with the way he spoke to her. She smiled and nodded in understanding, "I'll try." For him she would do anything. She felt her breath hitch when he scooted closer to her and blushed, "Yeah. We can do that." She felt tongue tied and flustered. She hated feeling like this around him. She was just glad the she was the empath and not him. She would be so embarrassed, "I sort of believe in myself. Like... I know I can do it. I just get anxious."

"It's okay, you'll feel less and less anxious as time goes on," he assured her kindly, smiling brightly at her.

Louis stood up, looking down at her with that same, cheery expression.

"There's a study room available just here," he gestured to his right, "Looks like it has the equipment in there too. Are you ready?"

Carina nodded and watched as he got to his feet. He was so tall compared to herself. She nodded when he asked if she was ready to go into the study area, "Yeah. Let's go." She stood up and walked to the room, a bit surprised it was already set up for her needs, "Are you sure no one else is using the room, Lou?"
