The fourth floor ended up being the most suitable spot for this prank out of the entire school as the stench from the infamously-clogged toilet wouldn't deter him. Being desensitized to such smells was advantageous and would make him be among the fittest to survive in the tough ecosystem of Hogwarts. Turning on the sink, he pulled out a packet of whizzing worms and frog spawn soap. The former was banned some time ago, but it was hardly enforced in more recent years. James waited for the sink to get filled after using a pouch of cotton rounds to stop the drain. Once the water level was satisfying, he poured in the pouch and the soap and ran off towards one of the empty stalls and threw on his invisibility cloak.

What seemed like a relatively normal and stress-free afternoon turned as soon as someone uttered a shriek down the fourth-floor corridor. Lien, walking along whilst re-reading his Potions essay and the comments, tried to ignore the shriek. But there was obviously more commotion coming from it. He decided to stop when a frog leapt onto his shoe and onto a girl’s handbag.

Lien sighed in frustration. Please, please, please let there be another Prefect around who could deal with this...

But it seemed he was the only one. Annoyed, he headed towards the bathroom. Opening the door, he cursed loudly. Frogs were leaping all over the floor in there. “Evanesco.” He tried his best to make them vanish, but only more and more started to appear. “Shit!” He turned off the tap and got a handful of worms. He flicked them off his sleeve and then stumbled, falling backwards onto the floor, where the frogs were hopping all over him. “Argh! Who does this dumb, stupid, idiotic...”

Stuff?

Hmm, did he really have to think about it...

James stood in one of the corners of the bathroom trying to stop himself from cracking up. Being one of the more harmless pranks one could come up with, it was hard to not get amused by it. What made the prank was the reactions of every unsuspecting person on the floor. Getting onto his tiptoes, he moved back towards the sink and kept his hands within the cloak in an attempt to turn the faucet back on. Might as well keep annoying this prefect who he argued might be worse than Faye. At least he could flirt his way out when it came to Faye...

He thought he’d heard something. Something... then nothing. He tried getting up off the floor. When he was on his feet, he saw something a little strange. A frog hopped onto something invisible, hung in mid-air for a bit, then hopped down again. Lien was in awe. Then a little bit freaked out. What was that?

Suddenly the taps turned back on again an worms started spilling out over his shoes, so he hopped backwards.

“What the!” He pointed his wand randomly at the sink, not really knowing what he’d accomplish by saying the incantation: “Flippendo.” Maybe Peeves had learned to make himself invisible or something, but he couldn’t escape spells! @James Potter

Merlin, this was going beautifully. Although he wouldn't consider himself much like his namesakes, James always enjoyed causing some amount of chaos. He was too blissful in watching Lien deal with all of the frogs and worms coming from the sink. If only he had one of those instant cameras on him to commemorate the moment. James moved left of the sink watching it get targeted with a jinx. He didn't realize sinks could go through the walls just like that. Now it seemed like the bathroom may flood more than he intended.

As the frogs and the worms accumulated by the second, he managed to break the sink and water was spraying all over his face and robes. Flailing around for a while, he recalled Louis’s spell during the start of term feast when the food fight had broken out.

”Immobulus!” The water froze. The frogs froze. The worms froze. It seemed rather effective. He was a little annoyed to be inspired by Louis fucking Weasley at a point of crisis, but he would have thought of something eventually.

“Peeves... if that’s you... can you just piss off please?” He made some swipes through the air in an attempt to grab something invisible.

James was disappointed that his fun was ending, but he couldn't reverse the spell without giving himself away. What could he do now? He obviously would have a hard time making himself look like Peeves to get out of a potential detention. Seemed like he only had two options: either wait for Lien to go or leave. He decided to walk out of the bathroom wanting to see if he's smart enough to follow.

Now that the frogs had stopped and the worms had stopped and the water had stopped... he could definitely hear footsteps. Lien lifted his head. He looked around the floor in particular: trying to see if anything there would give away an invisible person. It couldn’t have been Peeves. He was a poltergeist, and definitely did not have footsteps.

He followed the sound.

“I’ve already caught you,” he sighed lethargically, “Just show yourself already.”

Urgh. So he was smart enough to go after him. James just could tell that he apparently wasn't smart enough to deduce who'd own an invisibility cloak. It wasn't the most common thing to have on hand.

"How many blokes own an invisibility cloak, ye pig?"

Lien grabbed the cloak off of Potter, letting it fall down. He narrowed his eyes.

“I’ve never seen an invisibility cloak before,” he admitted. “Of course someone like you would have one. Did you steal it or something?”

He sighed.

Now he was accused of theft? C'mon! Did Chang have it out for him?

"It's a family heirloom!"

"Ah. Of course it is. From your Dad, I guess," he sighed.

He looked annoyed at the idea of him having something so valuable.

"So why are you doing this stupid shit to the bathroom? Don't you get enough attention already? Now I've got to deal with the fallout of it, just because people haven't thought of you for five minutes..."

[B]"

"Uh, yeah."

It was probably the only good thing about his father. That cloak had gotten him out of quite a few sticky situations at school. James was finding him even more officious than Faye; at least Faye could be swooned with enough attention.

"Just thought it'd be funny. Nothin' more than that."

[b]"I just thought... Why am I clearing it up? You clear it up. I think that would be funny."

Idiot.

James gave him a confused look and tried to gently knock on his forehead.

"Try getting some bitches first. You sound like you need one. I'll clean it if you repair the sink you blasted into bits. Deal?"

Lien just glared at him, clenching his teeth together. James didn't have to work as hard as he did. He was always going to get somewhere: famous, talented, popular, good-looking. He had every key ingredient that made a person's life an absolute breeze from the womb to the tomb.

"You're unable to do such a simple spell?" he said, mocking surprise, "Well... If I have to hold your hand through it..." He nodded in the direction of the bathroom, making sure that he went there and didn't run off.

"Yer the one who blasted it tryin' to kill me!" James retorted feeling quite grateful that he managed to be out of line of the knockback jinx. Okay, it wouldn't have killed him, but the emotional appeal was important. "All I did was use water and two products from Zonko's."

He couldn't stand how condescending Chang was. Were Ravenclaw-style prefects always like this? "I ain't a child."

Lien snorted. Kill him, yeah right. He ushered him back inside the bathroom and stood at the door.

"I can't believe you used the phrases Zonko's products and not a child in the same breath. Just clean it up, okay? Before word gets out about it and the whole school tries to come in here."

He supposed he could fix the sink. He just wanted to see if James did it first.

"My uncles made a whole livin' out of sellin' jokes. I can't help that it ain't your specialty."

There was a demand for it. They and Zonko's provided the supply. Basic economics, innit?

James chuckled. It was amusing how Chang was so concerned with other people seeing it. "What d'ya prefer? Clogged toilets or froga?"

Lien rolled his eyes.

He removed his glasses, and cleaned them a little on his robes. While he was doing this, he realised a fair few frogs were hopping around his feet. Disgusted, he kicked them away.

"Will you hurry up and take care of this?"

Argh!

"Put the sink back together and I can. If you didn't destroy the sink, I would've gotten to pullin' the drain stopper out."

Who knew getting a rise out of such a stuck-up prefect could be so thrilling?

James pulled out his wand and summoned a sponge. "Did you know that these absorb water?" He stuck it onto the floor.

Lien just glared at him and said nothing. He repaired the sink with a very lazy wave of his wand, and everything slotted back into place again. The rest... he didn’t respond to. He was just flipping through his glossary of spells inside of his head, trying to think of one he could use on James to get him to hurry up.

Now that the sink was back in one-piece, James stuck his hand down the drain and pulled out the make-shift stopper. "Aye, no more floods." He then banished the stopper, which was just made up of old socks owned by one of his dormmates.

"Yer a bird, what do ya know 'bout frogs? You study amphibians?"

"Isn't there something you'd rather be doing than asking me pointless questions?"

He genuinely wanted to know.

Then again, did he? Lien let out a long sigh that had his shoulders moving. He took out a runic dictionary from his pocket, put it alongside some notes, and tried to blank out James by forcing himself to study.

"I can't ever do anythin' right when it comes to ye."

Even his own family didn't get on him like that. James began banishing the frogs one-by-one. That seemed like an efficient way of getting rid of them.

"Do ya push yer housemates away like this?"
