Who’s that girl? (Alayna)

Lien was hovering outside the prefect’s bathroom, trying to decide whether to go in there or not. Whenever he went inside, there was always that same pair that hogged the bath tub: Faye Phiera and Narkissos Jetson. He didn’t mind either of them, but thought Faye was rather bossy. She just didn’t do anything for him.

However...

He saw Alayna Nott walking up the corridor with a few of her friends. They were all good-looking girls, but Alayna was the real knock out one. He often wondered what it would be like to walk around the school with his arm around her, although he highly doubted that he was her type. She was looking for the more got-a-lot-of-money-and-looks-as-well type. Maybe someone like Medina.

Lien’s eyes had been lingering on Alayna for a bit too long now...

Alayna was walking down the hallway holding hands with Mackenzie and Carina, both her girls on her side. This was normal for the hallways of Hogwarts. She was talking to Carina about potentially getting bangs when she noticed someone staring at her. She had seen him around the school before but never got his name. Not did she really care before. She looked back at him, locking eyes before noticing that puppy dog look on his face. She smiled and whispered to the girls before walking over to him, "It's not polite to stare."

Alayna was walking towards him. Lien diverted his eyes. It seemed impossible to imagine that she would want to talk to him, but she was. It may have been to complain, but she was talking to him. She didn’t sound completely horrified, either. It was more like she was taunting him.

Lien lifted his head. “I know... I’m sorry.” His cheeks turned a little pink. “I wasn’t doing it intentionally. I just... I got caught up looking... in this direction...” he finished lamely, then laughed nervously.

This was why girls like her didn’t go for boys like him. Not because he was unpopular... it was because he was literally a loser.

"You got caught up looking at me." She corrected him. She knew it was true. "I don't mind. It's kind of flattering. Someone as tall and handsome as yourself." She said looking up at him, biting her lower lip softly. He was quite tall and not hard on the eyes either. Not like Jovian or Oleander, but it wasn't painful to be in his presence. She could have a bit of fun with him, "I'm Alayna. But im guessing you already knew that."

He smiled uneasily. This was where she would start accusing him of being a creep...

But she didn’t. She was actually complimenting him. There was this sort of naughty look in her eye when she said it as well. Hoo boy. See this was what he needed. Just a little bit of attention from someone like her. Just a bit of acknowledgement.

“Er, yes, I know... I do know that. We’ve had classes together and stuff...” His cheeks were pink with delight. “I’m Lien Chang. In Ravenclaw house?” There was a hope that she would remember him for something. As long as it wasn’t for anything embarrassing.

"Lien Chang. Ravenclaw house. I'll make a mental note of that." She said with a smile then looked back at her friends, "Go on to class without me. Lien is going to walk me to class." She then turned back to him as her friends walked off, "If you want to that is. I've got Charms." She held her charms book to her chest as she looked up at him with an innocent smile that at the same time was anything but innocent.

Of course he couldn’t resist that look. She seemed to be completely pining for him, for some reason. Did he style his hair particularly well today? Perhaps it was a pleasing scent? If he could find out what it was, he would definitely replicate it for tomorrow.

“Y-yes - of course...” he insisted, springing into action immediately and moving towards the direction of the Charms classroom. He was smiling widely at her - perhaps a little too widely. He got to walk exclusively with one of the best looking girls at the school. Of course he couldn’t stop grinning. “So I, uh... hope I didn’t offend you or anything earlier, by staring, I mean. I suppose I’ve just wanted to... get to know you. I thought girls like you weren’t really interested in boring guys like me...”

Alayna giggled and began walking next to him in the direction of her class, "Like I said before. It's flattering. Plus, I'm kind of used to it. Growing up looking the way I do, a shy guy gawking at me is the least intimidating thing I've experienced." He wanted to get to know her? That was a first. Most guys just wanted to screw her, "Well what kinda of things did you want to know?"

Gawking? Shy guy? The words hit him like a spike. Not the way he wanted to be described but... her giggle was infectious anyway. Lien blushed, and was annoyed at himself for it. Always the shy guy, huh?

“Oh right... so you sort of like all the attention?” That hadn’t meant to come out as judgemental, but it did. Lien momentarily looked shocked with himself. “Er - I mean - forget that.”

This wasn’t going great...

“Well, um... do you have any hobbies? What sort of stuff do you do for fun? I’d like to know that sort of stuff...” He was so awkward. This was embarrassing. He was cringing at himself.

"Sometimes. But sometimes I just wish I was invisible. I mean, I know I'm a bad bitch. Everyone always tells me. And I own it. But sometimes I just wanna be... Ignored? If that makes sense. Like when I'm having a bad day I just wanna wear my brothers old sweater and some sweat pants. But I can't do that. Because I'm Alayna Nott. And I have a reputation." She had no clue why she was telling him all of this. But he seemed like someone she could trust. "I like to shop. I used to dance when I was younger, it helped that I was extremely flexible. I could probably still do it." She said ,sliding some flirtations in there. "I also like to fly. I don't do it often. Theodore always feared I would get hurt so I never got lessons like Atticus did."

He listened to Alayna talk. She was quite a lot more expressive than he thought, and he was fairly surprised by what she was saying. She would probably still look rather nice in sweat pants.

“Oh, uh, yeah...” Flexible? He was blushing again. “Theodore... isn’t he your Dad? Why do you call him by his first name?” he asked curiously, a little taken aback by that. Did they not have a good relationship?

"If you grew up with him you would to. Especially with what he did to Atticus. He is no longer my father. He is Theodore in my book." She had already had this argument with her friends and with her mother and with her mother's friends. She was not back down. Not until he let Atticus come home. The frown on her face deepened as she went more into her thoughts. It would definitely result in wrinkles if she didn't stop soon. But she was angry.

The way she spoke was rather firm, but Lien didn’t take it too personally. He was only curious, after all. It was unusual for someone to call their Father by their first name.

As they walked in silence, the atmosphere grew heavier. He cleared his throat a little.

“Well, um, if he did something that horrible, then I can understand why you wouldn’t call him ‘Father’ or... ‘Dad’ or... whatever. So... yeah. I get why.” She looked angry. It was strangely attractive.

Alayna stopped in her tracks and looked at him, "What class do you have this hour?" At that moment in time, she decided to say fuck going charms. She wanted to do something else. Oddly enough, she wanted to hang out with Lien. "would you want to skip it and hang out with me instead. We could go to the pool." She hoped the idea of seeing her in a bathing suit might be enough to get the ravenclaw to skip classes.

"I actually have a free period right now," he told her, surprised by her sudden stopping and change of heart. He shouldn't encourage lesson skipping, but this was Alayna. Of course he was going to say yes to her...

"Yeah, sure... We can do that," he said, smiling awkwardly. He didn't want to seem too eager, but this was all going rather smoothly. He couldn't quite believe it. "Are you sure you're okay with skipping?"

"I'm the one that suggested it. So yes. I'm ok with it." Alayna said with a laugh as she turned to start to Gryffindor tower, "I have to get my swim suit. Wanna meet me at the pool in 10 minutes?" She knew a few shirt cuts so she would make ti there in that time, "You need to go get changed too." She said looking him up and down, "Wouldn't want your robes to get soaked."

"Er- yeah... O-okay..."

He couldn't quite believe that Alayna was inviting him to the pool, and was going to arrive dressed in something that left little to the imagination.

"Meet you there then," he said, trying to sound completely nonchalant about it. After fetching his swim shorts from his dorm at the speed of sound, Lien arrived into the pool room and dithered, wondering whether he should get in first or wait for Alayna to arrive first.
