prove yourself (mackenzie)

Lochlan had sent a letter to Mackenzie, asking if she could drop by his office on Wednesday evening. He didn't give her any further details, because he liked to keep his children on their toes.

He sat behind his desk. It was covered with piles of manila folders and envelopes of early assignments he had given sixth- and seventh years. Doing actual work was hard enough as it is, but Lochlan was naive to the sheer volume teachers had to contend with. He didn't regret his decision on taking up the post, but he liked to invite Malia to help.

Malia, he felt, could be someone he could rely on. Mackenzie... was a different question. That's why he needed to see her now, before it was too late.

Macmenzke was half tempted not to show up to the request of her father. She could just spend her time with Jaxon instead. But she knew that would result in catastrophic consequences. when she got to her father's office, she knocked before poking her head in, "You wanted to see me?" She didnt know why her father wanted to see her. It was usually Malia he requested. She had always been her favorite. Even the way she was now, she was still considered the black sheep of the Riddle Family.

Lochlan looked up.

"Yes."

And this was definitely Mackenzie - not Malia and Mackenzie trying to play a trick on him.

"I wanted to ask you about after Hogwarts, and where it is that you see yourself."

Mackenzie stepped inside and closed the door behind her she took a seat in a chair and looked up at her father. When he asked what she wanted to do after school, she hesitated. She knew what she wanted to do but she wasn't sure if her father would approve, "I want to look into becoming a healer."

He breathed in deep - through the nostrils. Held. Then released, slowly.

"A healer." He repeated, nodding. He stood up, moved to the side of his desk where she was sat, and perched on the end. Then he could really look at her. "You know that you can't selectively heal, being a healer for Mungo's." He lent closer, smiling. But his smile was anything but fatherly. "That means you'll have to close the wounds on muddy blood, if you get my drift."

Mackenzie rolled her eyes when her father began talking about how she would have to heal mud bloods as well, "I'm very much aware father. But this is something I've wanted to do for a while now." It was true. Mackenzie was very passionate about helping people.
