the love room (miriam)

The Head of the Department of Mysteries had the key.

He had known this, ever since he was a boy. One locked room in the Ministry of Magic: impenetrable by conventional methods, or common magic. Even the key wasn't an actual key. It couldn't be stolen, or overheard like a password: it just was, utterly, in control of the Head.

Unfortunately for the whole of Wizard Kind... the the key holder was Lochlan Riddle.

The Love Room. Ah - just behind this door, there were answers. He could feel it. He stood before the door, and hadn't yet entered. He knew that love was both a magical and muggle mystery, and that it was, ultimately, his Grandfather's greatest downfall. If he could somehow come to understand it... just a slither of truth...

He paused. Someone was watching. Lochlan turned his head, lips pursed.

Miriam was getting ready to head home after her shift; being an Unspeakable had its tough moments, and she was ready to relax and unwind for the night.

Hmm. That was odd. She thought he had already left.

"Lochlan?"

"Lovely to see you, Miriam!"

He moved away from the door, but schooled his expression into one of uttermost delight.

There was something about Miriam Baptist that he didn't entirely like, but he was very careful not to reveal this. Perhaps she would be a traitor to them. Perhaps she wouldn't. All he could do was secure their connection into a trusted one.

"Are you leaving now? I won't keep you - unless you want a slight detour..." His head indicated the room.

"I"m just surprised to see you lurking around these department quarters."

Her feelings regarding the Death Eater takeover of the Ministry were mixed to say the least.

"Isn't that the love room?"
