The library was where she was going to find Miss Darling, she knew it! Every time that Blanche was in there, which probably wasn't frequent enough for a sixth-year student, she often saw Cherry reading. She also looked like she had a lot of fun reading as well. Blanche wished she could say the same for herself!

Blanche was quite excited to get Cherry as her secret santa, because it was an opportunity to have a sort of conversation with her. They didn't really cross paths that often, but she was a funky kinda chick in her opinion. Well, Blanche just liked to picture Cherry listening to metal and head banging in her dormitory...

"Hi Cherry!" She chirped, seeing her at a desk. Someone shushed her. Blanche shushed them back, and giggled. "Can I sit with you?" She whispered, winking.

This time, Cherry had been reading about the history of magic and holistic medicine; it was interesting reading such practices from this perspective as more alternative treatments were demonized in the muggle world.

It was surprising when a girl who she assumed was pretty popular wanted to join her. "Sure, go ahead!" Cherry responded as she shifted her books more to the center of the table to allow the other to have some room.

Blanche plopped herself down and briefly glanced over all the reading material Cherry had on her desk. Maybe a book would have been better for her. No - she couldn't think like that now. Plus, Blanche thought her present was incredibly cute and was certain Cherry would like it.

"Guess what?" She said, her voice now lowered to a decent level. "It's Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiis~maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas (soon)!" She imitated the line from Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody' from '73. Maybe Cherry knew it?

"So I got you something!" She pulled out the oblong-shaped present in all its terrible glory. Her wrapping skills weren't wonderful, and she had used some very corny-looking cartoon reindeer paper. There was a bow stuck on haphazardly to the centre of the gift. "Ta-dah!"

Cherry mustered a laugh in a bit of confusion. She knew Blanche had this reputation for being loud and out there. Why wouldn't she be knowing how close she and James were?

"You did?" That was surprising. Did she end up with her for Secret Santa or something?

She looked at that very strangely wrapped gift in front of her. What did Blanche get her to be so oblong-shaped?

Well, Cherry might as well start unwrapping it.

"Thanks..!"

Before she even got a chance to completely unwrap it, Blanche couldn't resist launching into an explanation of the present.

"It's an organiser slash diary!" She said enthusiastically, "When you write in it, say... the twenty-first of January you have to hand in an essay for Cavendish. The diary will automatically sing to you as a reminder in the approach to that date! But if you don't like the singing, you can say 'stop singing!' and it will switch to a normal voice instead! You can even change the languages!"

It was obvious how thrilled she was about this present.

"It's so cute, isn't it?!"

"Wow, that's really thoughtful. Thanks."

That was a lot of enthusiasm for a weirdly-shaped planner. At least it happened to be useful..?

Blanche giggled.

"Oh! I almost forgot! I got to give you this as well."

She gave her an envelope with the party invitation inside.

"Ooh, can you try out the organiser? Go on!"

It was nice to be invited to something for once.

Cherry opened the planner and said into it, "Arithmancy test on January 14."

Blanche beamed, and leaned in.

”Arithmancy test is recorded for the fourteenth of January! I shall remind you a week before! A test is very important, very scary! But don’t worry - here’s a song!”

The organiser started singing loudly. Blanche was giggling and dancing along, apparently unaware of the multiple disturbances and annoyances it had caused to the occupants of the library...

She cringed hearing the planner actually work. Her roommates were so going to hate her for this.

"Uh, thanks, hehe."

Cherry was not going to use that ever again.
