Words hurt (Louis)

Carina was worried about Louis change in attitude. She had a feeling she knew what it was about and it pissed her off. Her anger showed on her face in her clenched jaw and narrowed eyes as she walked into the hall with him. She didn't know what to say at first so she settles for a question "what's going on?"

Louis couldn't quite look at her. He'd never had a dilemma quite like this. She appeared to be angry already, so maybe she knew exactly what was wrong. Maybe he ought to get straight to the point and not beat about the bush: Carina wasn't stupid.

"Is your position as prefect jeopardised?" He said this gently, sympathetically. But there was an edge of disappointment in there that he couldn't quite squeeze out.

"seriously? That's what this is about?" Carina said shaking her head "I'm so tired of talking about this." She took a deep breath and nodded "yeah. Apparently I fucked up. But I know I wasn't in the wrong, at least not fully. And I stand by that." She said looking at him "how'd you find out? What have you even heard?"

He didn't tell her who told him what, as he didn't see that as being relevant.

"I don't think you ever intended to cause any upset," He said finally, not smiling. It was very rare for him to not have that twinkle in his eye. "And I know that you don't support the use of that word. I believe you were simply trying to be a peacekeeper between the two sides, but may have struggled to express yourself properly."

He wanted to believe that. He really wanted to believe that. If Carina was going to be his friend...

"I don't like the idea of people being allowed to use that word. Particularly not about my friends, or family." He said this quite calmly, but needed to express himself about that. Let her know 'how it is', so to speak.

Carina looked away from him "all I said was there was more than just one guilty party. Yes. Pandora said some things she shouldn't have. But rosemary jinxed her first. Pandora didn't call her anything until after that first jinx was sent. I kept trying to make it seen that we couldn't only punish Pandora. And if you think it's ok to only punish one in a guilty party of three. Then we can't be friends. And I was stupid to think we could ever be more. " She said turning away from him. She wanted to walk away, but something inside her refused to let her do so. But she would not let him see her cry

He struggled to keep up with what she was actually talking about, but could only conclude that she cared a lot about others. It wasn't that she wanted people punished for the sake of it, she just valued the aspect of fairness. He was exactly the same. Maybe some of the judgements he made were wrong as well, he wasn't perfect.

Louis smiled and touched her hand. Then he slipped his fingers between hers."Don't worry," He assured her, "It will all be resolved soon, and will be forgotten about. I want you to enjoy yourself tonight. I didn't want to upset you."

Carina looked over at him when he placed his hand in hers. Her eyes had tears in them and it showed as her green eyes were lightly rimmed with red "I am upset Louis. I'm upset everyone thinks I'm some pureblood supremist now. I'm not my grandfather. I've worked really hard for the reputation I have and for it to all just be taken from me. It's not fair! " She shouted as her anger was increased by ten. " It's not fair...."

He looked at her sympathetically. As much as he needed to ask her about her version of the situation, he regretted upsetting her. Perhaps she was quite fine before the subject was brought up. He didn't know, and he couldn't take it back, so the only thing he could really do was comfort her.

Louis put his arms around her.

"Carina, it's okay," He reassured softly, "I promise. It will be okay."

Carina instantly wrapped her arms around his waist and his her face in his neck. She sniffled softly and felt her tears begin to fall "I'm sorry.... I shouldn't be all emotional. It's just.... I'm so tired of it" she said pulling back from him. She wiped her tears away and took a breath "I kind of want to just go back to the common room." She wasn't even in the mood to party anymore which was extremely odd for carina "I'll see you around, Weasley" she said kissing his cheek and getting ready to leave

Louis didn't want her to leave. He liked holding her, knowing that she was okay. He would have preferred her not crying, but he understood a bit of why she was upset. His heart was hammering somewhere in his throat. Blood was pounding in his ears. He couldn't stand the thought of her being in her dungeon dormitory all alone, getting all the more upset over everything that had transpired.

So he didn't let go of her hand. He kept clutching it. He pulled her back, gently, and pressed his forehead against hers.

"Who could ever think poorly of such a sweet girl like you, Carina?" He smiled down at her. "If you really want to go, I'll understand. I'll be here if you feel like coming back." He ran his hand down one side of her cheek tenderly.

Carina hesitated for a moment before wrapping her arms around his neck "I'll stay. If you promise not to leave my side" she nuzzles into his hand and smiled softly " Louis Weasley.... You're gonna be the death of me one day. And I'm ok with that" she said blushing lightly and chewing on her bottom lip. Part of her wanted to kiss him right then and there. But she was scared

"I promise," He agreed solemnly, back to his usual ear-to-ear smile.

The thing about people was... no one could truly comprehend the inner workings of another. Louis linked hands with her again, and thought about the truth in this. There were good people who did bad things, and who made mistakes. Louis didn't feel as though Carina needed to be punished for what she did or didn't do; emotionally or otherwise.

"You could make me very happy, and agree to dance with me." He told her gently, smiling in a care-free sort of way as he pulled her in the direction of the great hall again.

Carina laughed as he pulled her back to the great Hall "you know my pureblood upbringing won't allow me to decline" she said at his request to dance. She listened to the music and giggled " my mom used to listen to this song" she said as she hopped her head to the beat

"And my upbringing says I should always dance with the girl I like the most."

He just sort of said it, and didn't feel at all weird afterwards. He took her to the dance floor, and he nodded in agreement. This was something he had heard of before, but he wasn't sure when or where he had. Perhaps it was the track list of his parents' wedding, which was unfortunately cut short.

Louis took her waist, and pulled her a little closer to him. Then he prompted them to dance. "Have you danced with a lot of boys, in the past?" He asked, curious now about whether Carina had attended more formal settings as a child. He had heard of pureblood families being more traditional, but Louis's mother was very much traditional as well. It wasn't such a lady-of-the-house-with-her-lowly-servant sort of situation.

Carina smiled when he said he liked her the most and blushed even more. She placed her hands on his shoulders and moved to the music. When he asked about her past she laughed "a few. My brother, my father, Atticus nott and my dance partner when I was 7." She said remembering when she was first learning to dance "how about you? Alot of females been in these arms?" She asked as she did a small spin

"Atticus Nott, really?" He smiled, "I've got nothing to worry about there, do I? No competition?"

He was only joking, but he realised then what it meant. It meant that he wanted to have Carina all to himself. Well, it was true, the thought of other boys approaching her did put him out of ease; but he was sure nothing like that would happen. So long as he was with her.

"I've only really danced with my sisters and mother. I'm not sure if some of my cousins enjoy dancing." Perhaps he had danced with Molly too, at some point? "Well. A lot of them aren't even here."

"why would there be anything to worry about? I only have my eye on one guy, Louis." She said looking up at him as they danced. She wanted to tell him who it was. That it was him. But she was afraid. Afraid of rejection. She sighed and rested her head on his chest "what about you? You must have tons of girls fighting for you" she said kind of upsetting herself in the process. The thought of him with someone else hurt her alot.

He chuckled lightly. He didn't think any girls were 'fighting' over him. Honestly, he'd heard more about James being the heart breaker. He supposed he had quite a few female friends, and enjoyed being in close contact with them the way he wasn't with boys. Touching girls seemed incredibly natural to him, in such a way that he didn't view it as particularly romantic.

"Don't you worry about that," He assured her, enjoying the feeling of her head leaning on his chest. His stomach fluttered. He had butterflies. "Carina... I'd like it if we could spend some time alone together. After tonight. What I mean is, I'd like to take you out on a date." He gripped her a little closer to him. The scent of her perfume tickled at his nose, and sent waves of excitement through his body.

Carina smiled softly as she could feel his nerves "you don't need to be nervous, Louis." She said before looking up at him as he spoke. She smiled widely and nodded when he asked her out "I'd love to go out with you. If I'm being honest, I had a plan that if you didn't ask me out by the end of the night I was going to ask you out" she smiled when he pulled her closer and tightened the grip she had on him on return " what did you have in mind?"

Louis smiled. So... that definitely meant that she wasn't angry at him anymore. They were on the same page, here. He flushed a little in delight.

"I know we talked about all going to Hogsmeade together, with Mackenzie and some other of our friends, but," Maybe he was being a little selfish, but he just wanted to spend the time with her. "Could it just be you and I? We could go to the cinema, or we could go bowling. I heard those are the most talked about attractions in Hogsmeade for dates."

It was funny how he had been inadvertently thinking about this the entire time. If they were out together, where would he take her.

"What do you think?" He asked, beaming.

Carina nodded "I was thinking the same thing. We can go with kenz and the others next time. This time,... Just you and me" she said pushing her hair that had fallen out of the bun out of her face " we could do bowling and then get lunch at  the three broomsticks? " She suggested. The idea of actually going in a date with Louis had Carina extremely excited "but what about your family. They don't exactly like me.... Not after the train" she said her attitude visibly darkening

"Sounds like a good plan," He said, feeling somewhat impatient now for this date to be happening sooner.

When she mentioned his family, he just smiled. He didn't want her to worry about things like that. He supposed, as she was fiercely concerned about her reputation within the school and society, she was worried about things like that. He didn't want her to worry. If there was any controversy flagged up about it, he felt he could handle it himself.

"I'm sure there won't be any problems. Don't worry about it." He sounded confident. Louis usually was.

Carina nodded at his words and felt comfort by them. She tested her head back on his chest when suddenly she felt an urge to do something "Lou... I'm gonna do something ... Just don't freak out" she said before standing on her tip toes and kissing him softly. She felt fireworks go off in her stomach and she felt the room begin to spin, in a good way. After a few short seconds she pulled away blushing fiercely

"Okay..."

He didn't know what to expect. Of course he knew he wouldn't freak out. When her lips made contact with his, he felt his insides writhe to the top of his throat. It felt incredibly natural to kiss her back, taking her chin into his hand and tilting her head to meet his. He put both hands around her waist, and held her to him. She was warm, and smelled sweet, and he didn't let her pull away.

He just smiled when she did, and brought their lips together again.

Carina smiled against his lips as her fingers found his way to his hair. She melted right into his arms and it seemed like they were two matching puzzle pieces. She pressed her body to his lightly as their lips moved together in perfect harmony. After a few minutes and a desperate need to breathe she pulled away again "wow"
