Catching Up (Nikki)

Kier had been tasked with protecting Nikki and was going to do everything in his power to do just that. With her being in Hogwarts that was definitely the safest place for her, but they also had a deal that when he owled her, she was to come meet him since he wanted a rundown on how she was doing. Kier would do everything in his power to make sure another family didn't suffer a loss which is why he took the job in the first place... well, second job since his first job was being an Auror but they knew that when he needed to go for an emergency he would go and out of respect they understood.

Even though Kier was no student, he had eyes and ears on Nikki in case she needed him. Kier was not going to let anything bad happen to her and made sure to do a perimeter search before she arrived and even waited outside looking in every direction possible and listening to know she was coming.

Nikki had received an owl from Kieran, asking her to meet him that afternoon at Madam Puddifoot's. They had an agreement that when he owled her, she would come to meet him wherever he asked her to. Not that it bothered her to do so in any way. It wasn't like she had anything better to do.

When she arrived at the tea shop, she found that Kieran was already there waiting for her. She had expected him to maybe be waiting inside for her but she should have known that he would be out there making sue everything was safe before they could go inside. She walked up to him, a smile on her lips as she reached him. "Hello, Kieran. Is everything okay?" He didn't call her to meet him often so when he did, she often feared something had happened. After her whole immediate family had been killed by hunters, it was no surprise she thought like that, though.

Kier knew that Nikki would be there soon, he knew that she took things just as seriously as he did when it came to safety and all of that. Kier was her protector, and Nikki was someone who needed to understand to be careful when he wasn't always around to protect her, but Kier was also dedicated to his work and would be there if she needed him to be which is why he had the eyes and ears on her in Hogwarts.

The moment he saw her was the same time he chilled out and waited for her to come closer and when she asked if everything was okay, he nodded his head. "Nikki... and yes everything seems good... I did a perimeter check just in case and wanted to make sure... please come inside now" Kieran moved aside and opened the door for her to enter.

Nikki knew things were serious, she knew that she had to take her own safety seriously. And the one person that she knew who cared about her safety as much as she did was Kieran. She was the last of her family line to survive the attack so she was the only one to carry the royal blood in her veins. But Nikki liked to think of Kieran as someone she could turn to, someone she could trust. So, she always came promptly when he called her to do so.

Nikki nodded when he confirmed that he had already checked the area and that everything seemed safe. "Thank you." She said when he held the door open for her and asked her to come inside. It was not the type of place she would usually venture but she could see why Kieran might choose this place. The booths were all relatively private and dimly lit. Sure, it gave a romantic feel but it would serve to be helpful for them to meet without any attention being drawn either. They were soon shown to a booth and she took a seat on one of the comfortable bench seats. "This place is interesting." She spoke, something to fill the silence mainly.

Kier had gotten there in time for her when the attack happened, and he was only able to save her since he was hired for her specifically. His Conrads had perished with their charges and rightfully so. It was what they were hired to do.

When he finally saw her arrive, he was glad to see her there in one piece always being on high alert when it came to her which is why the school looked out for her when he couldn't be there for her on the grounds. Hogwarts was safe for her; it was when she left the school that he made sure he was right there waiting for her. When they walked inside, he saw her observing everything around her and before they were escorted to their table and he nodded. "It's safe" was all he said to her.

Nikki may not have always been an easy charge. She had never seen the need to have someone looking after her in her younger teenage years... But that day that everything had happened she had learned that she should be thankful that Kieran was looking out for her. If he hadn't been, she would have been slain just like the rest of her family. She owed him her life. Since then, she had been much more cautious. She trusted his judgment a lot more.

Still, she couldn't help but to want to inspect her surroundings when she walked into the little tea shop. She was tense but she let herself relax just a bit when he told her that it was safe. She let out a breath and nodded. Then they were sitting in a shady little corner and he asked about school. "It's been alright, nothing exciting." Which was both a blessing and a curse. She was bored out of her mind but at least nothing dangerous had happened either.

Nikki was someone who definitely tested him from time to time, there was just something about her doing it on purpose or he swore she did it on purpose. Kier tried his hardest to look after her and protect her, but Nikki definitely didn't make it easy on him from time to time.

When they were seated, he made sure his senses stayed on high alert as he sat across from her. "That's good, you're in your final year, know what you want to do for your future yet?" He asked.

Nikki had changed when everything had happened. She had once been carefree and wanted nothing more than to cause trouble for her guardian, a typical teenager many would say. Now she was much more cautious, she took her safety much more seriously and relied on Kieran much more instead of trying to test him. She knew the reality of things now and she wouldn't let her family down by letting the hunters take her out as well.

A thoughtful little frown came to her face at his question. "I haven't decided yet. Maybe university? I know I will have to carry on the family legacy in time since everything happened..." It was a lot of responsibility that she would have to shoulder but she was the only one left, what choice did she have?
