kick your game ((hector))

To his dismay, Addanc wasn't placed on the actual Slytherin quidditch team this year. He told Cece that being on reserves would be better than thrown into a position other than beater, but actually being labeled a reserve had him feeling inadequate. What was he going to do to make himself feel better? All he needed was his least favorite cousin and a few things that were on him.

He barged into the common room without any thought. "Yo, Hector?!" Addanc called out as he popped a stick of gum into his mouth. "Where are ya, cuz?"

Reading through the Daily Prophet in the common room one afternoon, Hector was offended by the brutish bashing around the entrance, and his eyes pivoted upward in annoyance. Then, after seeing who it was and hearing the slur of his voice, he looked down to his paper again. Being related to Addanc Bulstrode was terrible enough, let alone having to communicate with him.

"You're not expecting me to acknowledge you directly, I hope?"

Hector's brow creased.

"Address me correctly and I might speak with you. If you cannot, we have nothing more to say to one another."

Fuck yeah! He didn't have to go far to find Hector! Addanc was already annoyed enough; he didn't want to hunt him down through the whole castle just to see if he could have a reminder that he, at least, wasn't Hector.

He plopped down near his cousin and scratched his shins. "Your name's Hector, innit? I bloody addressed you properly!"

Cringing at the way he spoke, Hector promptly shuffled along the couch to set some distance between them. He could argue further, but that would potentially mean having to endure him for longer. So Hector sighed loudly, resigning.

"Make it quick, Bulstrode."

@Addanc Bulstrode

"I didn't make it on the quidditch team! I practiced swinging my bat all summer!"

There were a few times he wanted to hit Hector's noggin with it so maybe his head wouldn't be stuck in his arse, but there wasn't a good window of opportunity.

He smacked his gum loudly. "I- Don't- Know- What- To- Do-"

"Cease that incessant jaw-smacking for a start," he snapped, irritated. He felt every notch of his back molars working on that piece of gum. He could feel it at the back of his own ears: a shudder of repulsion.

"I do not claim to be the most privy to matters of Quidditch, but I would think a Beater requires more than just swinging a bat around. You make the sport sound positively apish."

He could compare his cousin to an ape, but decided against it. Something about Addanc's whining made him sound a touch pathetic already, so he really didn't need to.

@Addanc Bulstrode

"I was on the team last year and the year before that! That's what I don't get!"

Sniffling, he began to feign some tears. Addanc probably would've done it alone in his dorm, but that would've been while nobody was there. At least in case someone dared to make fun of him over it. If they did, they were getting the bat.

"Where's your handkerchief?"

Well... Addanc was younger than he was, he reasoned. The state of his family may have been despicable, but he had a sense of duty towards his own kin.

Hector pulled a face when tears were shed, and quickly retrieved his handkerchief from his pocket, and handed it to his cousin.

"Pull yourself together," was his unhelpful advice.

Taking the handkerchief, Addanc obnoxiously blew into it, really playing up the sadness. In between his sobs, the smacking of gum could be heard like a pulsating beat. He just needed to figure out when...

"Quidditch's my life, man!"
