beat the charges (james)

Albus had been looking forward to returning to Hogwarts this upcoming year. It was his fifth year and there was nothing that had him more excited. He was ready to play Quidditch and see what being a prefect got him. Although he wasn’t the biggest fan of who got the captain spot, but Emery was good.

He had been doing his best to avoid the Slytherins, and made his way to his own compartment. “I wanted my own compartment this time.” he scoffed.

James was being a good big brother by getting on the train with Al. However, it was not his plan to stick around. Not his plan at all. He needed to get up to some hijinx now that Hogwarts is back in session; he had an image to keep up if it meant people were less likely to pry into his business.

"Is a bloody carriage full of other prefects not enough for you?" he questionec irritably as he held onto his suitcase and guitar case. There was no way he was going to spend the entire train ride with his brother.

Albus didn’t feel like sitting with the other prefects. He just wanted to be alone and do his own thing. He had rolled his eyes at James response. “Why are you bringing the prefect carriage into this?” he asked.

"...Why am I bringing the bloody prefects carriage into this? Ain't that a bloody good question," James grumbled as he grip on the handles tightened. "It's 'cause you gotta go there later for a meeting. Did ya not listen to Lou Lou?"

He was the one who didn't get along with authority figures! How the fuck did he care more about one basic prefect duty than his golden brother?

"Why are you assuming I wanna spend the train ride with you?"

Albus had all intentions of going to the prefect carriage. Louis can come and get him when he was ready for them to have the meeting. He didn’t want to be around Alayna Nott, who he had no clue how she made head girl. “I will go there for the meeting, but I’m going to spend time with Alayna Nott.” he said.

He didn’t understand how she became head girl.

“Out of all the options, it went too Alayna.” he said. He didn’t like many Slytherins, and just wanted to enjoy his peace and quiet. “I don’t want to be around them right now.”

"Headmaster Riddle thought she was best for the job," James answered with a shrug. "Do ya think Jer will get Head Boy next year? He's, er, bloody annoyed by me... Really annoyed. I dunno why..."

Albus didn’t know who would end up getting head boy or girl. Although if Lochlan is still in charge it would probably end up going to Slytherin house. “It’ll probably be the Slytherin bunch.” he said with a shrug. “He tends to favor those of that house even if half of them don’t deserve it.”

It was a very unfair way of doing things. “Name a good Slytherin.”
