Dont be scared (open)

Persephone was nervous about the school year. It wasn't like she was a first year being here for the first time. But she was still nervous. She was always nervous about the start of a school year. She wasn't friends with the popular girls like Ptolemy and she wasn't confident like Thorfinn. She was just.... Scared. She curled up on the seat with her legs to her chest and stared out the window as the train went on.

Josie was wandering around the train, trying to find her friends to enjoy the journey with. She always loved the trip back to Hogwarts. The countryside was beautiful. She ended up in a compartment where she saw the younger Rowle girl curled up and looking quite terrified. She swept into the car like she owned the place. “Persephone, darling… whatever is wrong? Are you not happy to be heading back to Hogwarts?” she asked in a polite tone but there was just a small amount of pity for the younger girl.

Persephone looked over when she heard a voice and gave Josie a weak smile, "I'm ok. Just a bit nervous." She said trying to play off her terror. She didn't like being scared of something so silly. Hogwarts was amazing. She just hated being around so many people without that many friends to show for it, "I'm just worried about the headgirl position this year." She tried to say as an excuse, "My brothers love obsession is the head girl." She often thought it odd how much Ptolemy drolled over alayna nott when she hardly gave him the time of day.

Josie sat primly on one of the open seats in the compartment, looking the perfect image of poise and grace just as has always been drilled into her. “You’re worried about Alayna Nott? Why ever would you be worried about her?” weren’t they all in the same social group after all? They were all pureblood ladies and she even said that Alayna and her brother had some sort of a thing going on so why would she be worried? It didn’t make sense to Josie but then again, she wasn’t usually the type to worry about trivial things. ”This should be a benefit. The head girl is seeing your brother. Think of all of the things you could get from this.” leniency? Special privelages?the possibilities were endless in Josie’s mind!

"That would be true if they were actually a thing or courting or whatever. But she treats him as a servant or some love sick puppy she keeps to make her life easier. She does not care for him and it infuriates me. Plus, he could do so much better." Persephone normally didn't let this much anger out of her but it just drove her crazy seeing Ptolemy bend over backwards for someone like Alayna freaking Nott, "I apologize for my outburst."

“ugh, that is so beneath him. Poor Ptolemy.” she said with a little disappointed shake of her head. Then again… wouldn’t it be lovely to have a boy who adored you and wanted to fulfill your every whim? Maybe Alayna knew what she was doing after all… not that she would say that to Persephone since it had to be a sore subject being her brother and all who was being used. “No need to apologize. I would be furious if someone were taking such advantage of one of my brothers.” not that she thought any of her brothers would ever be susceptible to such things but one can never truly know.

"My point exactly." Persephone said with a pout on her face. She then looked over at Josie, "What am I to do? Any time I speak I'll of Alayna he gets all mean and angry with me. I'm simply trying to protect him. Why does he not see that?" It frustrated her that ptolemy was being so blinded by Alayna Nott.

Josie reached out and placed a reassuring hand on the other girl's hand. "I'm sure he'll realize soon enough that he is being used. He isn't stupid." Or at least, she hadn't thought that he was until hearing the way he was allowing himself to be used by Alayna. She sighed at the other girl's next question. "I think it's just something that he'll have to figure out on his own. Love is blind and all that nonsense." She said as she rolled her eyes. She didn't really believe such things but she had heard the saying enough and it seemed to fit in this situation. She just hoped for Persephone's sake that her brother would eventually open his eyes.

"Are we so sure about that?" Persephone smirked at her friend and let out a small laugh, "Lust tends to make boys rather stupid, does it not?" She wrinkled her nose as the word love was used in the conversation, "Love? It is not love. That would be ridiculous." She could not fathom the idea of her brother and alayna nott being in love. The idea was ridiculous in and of itself. "He can't possibly love her."

“I mean, to be fair his intelligence might be a little questionable at this point if what you’re saying is true.” Josie said with a little smirk of her own. “You’re probably right, he’ll forget all about her as soon as someone hotter catches his eye then we’ll both just be able to laugh at his momentary lapse of judgment.” or so she hoped, for Persephone’s sake since the girl really didn’t seem to like Alayna Nott in the least. Not that Josie could blame her. From what she knew of Alayna she could be difficult to get along with in the best circumstances then add on the way she was apparently using Ptolemy and Josie could see why her friend wasn’t a fan at all.

Persephone calmed a bit as Josephine reassured her of her brother's attention span and nodded, "Perhaps I could introduce him to my friend Chase. Boys are unable to contain themselves around her." It was true, with Chase being a veela, but she also knew her friend hated how guys treated her. "Anyone is better than Alayna in my book. Why couldn't he go for the blonde? At least Malfoy is nice to people."

“Maybe they could really hit it off.” Josie encouraged, maybe her friend Chase would be just what it took to distract him from Alayna if she was anything like Persephone seemed to say she was with guys. “Maybe he’s not into blondes?” it was a thing, wasn’t it? Maybe blondes just weren’t Ptolemy’s type… “or maybe he just has a thing for the bitchy ones?” Josie suggested, not minding referring to Alayna as such at all.

Persephone sighed and slouched down in her seat, feeling a bit defeated, "Perhaps. I just don't wish to thrust such an imposition on her." She could never truly ask that of Chase, as much as she wanted to, it was wrong to manipulate her powers that way. She rolled her eyes at Josephine's statement and smiled, "Well if that is his type he is certainly aiming for the queen." Implying that Alayna is the bitchiest bitch to ever bitch.

Josie reached out and gently patted her friend's hand in a gesture that she hoped to be reassuring when she saw her slouch down in defeat. "We will figure something out. I'll help you." Josie offered her help. She could be a bit underhanded herself and knew that between her and Persephone that they would be able to come up with something that might help Ptolemy. Or at least, in her mind she had no doubt that they could. Josie nodded at the other girl's next statement. "You do have a point there. But she'll only be the queen for one more year." After all, Alayna would be a small fish in a much bigger pond after she graduated.

Persephone gave Josephine a small smile that was slightly defeated, but also accepting of what the situation was, "Enough of my idiot brother and his witch. How was your summer? Did you do anything exciting?" She hasn't done much over the summer herself, so she was excited to hear of others fun times.

Josie hated to see the defeated look on her friend’s face but there was nothing she could do about the situation at the moment. She shrugged her shoulders when asked about her summer. “Nothing too exciting. Spent much of it back in France. Mother insisted upon attending every pureblood party or gathering within floo range.” Josie actually enjoyed the pureblood parties and such but it had just been a bit overkill this year in her opinion. “How was your summer?”

Persephone groaned in playful envy as she heard of Josephine spending her summer in Paris. She truly had no idea how lucky she was to get to do such things, "I have to convince my parents to allow me to visit you next summer. I'd love to get away from.the house and the family. Even if only for a week or so." It wasn't that she didn't love her family, she just needed space every now and then, "It was boring. I mostly spent time with Cecelia Burke and hiding in the family library." Persephone often liked to disappear with a good book.

Josie often took things for granted, especially since she grew up in France so it was just going home for her. She didn't think about the fact that other girls would love to live the life that she did. "I would love to have you visit next summer! I would love to have someone to go shopping with." Being an only child made it somewhat lonely when she was back in France. Sure, she had some friends there but it wasn't the same since she barely spoke to them all school year. "You'll have to give me some book recommendations." She said with a bit of a smile, she was running out of good books to read and thought maybe Persephone could give her some good suggestions.
