2015 Start of Term Feast ((current 7th years and older))

It was finally done and over with; all of the students had been sorted, and Minerva's jaw still clenched tightly. Having a student on the roster named James Sirius Potter meant that these few years of little hooliganism was coming to an end. He was a good kid, but it was going to be a headache dealing with more years of incessant pranking. It was of absolutely no surprise that he ended up in Gryffindor; the hat hardly touched the finest hairs on his head before making the proclamation that drove the Gryffindor table into hysterics.

For most students, that was the most eventful part of the evening, but for Minerva, in all of her years of working at Hogwarts, there were a few other things that drew her attention. Jerome Estrada being sorted as a Gryffindor when her very first impression assumed he was more suited for possibly Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. There was also Melanthius Burke who had one of the longer hatstalls she ever witnessed. The twin Malfoy girls ended up in different houses. Otherwise, most of the sortings were about what she expected.

Minerva glanced up at the starry, night sky that highlighted the floating candles that lit up the Great Hall. The excitement that filled the hall was palpable and contagious; it was a great time to be in Hogwarts.

"Settle down, students," she instructed. "It is time for us to enjoy our feast!"

"The riddles aren't too difficult, and usually the knocker cycles them - according to the older students. There's only so many riddles it can ask."

Lien explained this to the new Ravenclaw boy, smiling slightly.

Then the girl asked her own riddle.

"A statue?" he ventured.

He simply wasn't going to speak about how his sorting went or divulge what he and the hat spent millennia discussing, not right now anyway. It was like he was in a state of shock; Thius was refusing to process or accept the possibility that the hat was potentially correct the first time.

"A Potter pass to the Restricted Section?"

Now that piqued his interest. "There are encyclopedias down there that I'd love to read. The only reason they're restricted is due to age and fragility. Of course, there are books as well I'd like to read from there, but I haven't been able to compile a list of everything known to be stored in the section..."

Lakelyn was looking at everything excitedly when she heard someone speaking beside her. She turned her head to see that he was actually talking to her! Her smile only grew. He was being so nice! She wiggled a bit in her seat, unable to keep in all of her excitement. "I'm happy to meet you, Louis! I'm Lakelyn." Sure, she still knew that she would miss her siblings but if everyone in her house was as nice as Louis then she thought she would be okay! "I'm so excited to be here!" She practically squealed.

Lysander frowned a bit when the girl asked her riddle. At least the older boys made it seem like it wouldn't be too hard to get into the common room at least! He thought over the girl's riddle as the others said their guesses. "A mirror?" Because your own reflection smiled back if you smiled, right? And if you dropped it then the glass would break? Made sense to him... But he was sure the older students were probably right instead of him.

Amara smiled a bit to the boy who apparently knew nothing of their world. She had been right, he was a muggleborn! There were so many things that he wouldn't know and to be honest, it made her feel a little better to know that he knew less about school than she did! She was nervous being here but she knew he had to be much more nervous. "We fly on brooms! We'll take flying class soon so you'll learn how. I'm horrible at it even though my dad tried to teach me." She said with a little frown. She had wanted to make her father proud but instead she had failed!

Smiling at the blonde boy as Discordia stabbed her steak with a knife, she responded, "Yes, dear housemate, a mirror."

Her eyes moved toward the other two without the slightest of movement in the rest of her face.

Amaryllis noticed that one of the new little Hufflepuffs didn't seem as excited as the others, he actually seemed really nervous as he sat down by himself and stared at his plate. She quickly excused herself from her group of friends and walked over to him. "Hey! I'm Amaryllis, welcome to Hufflepuff!" She welcomed him warmly as she took an empty seat beside him. She hated to see anyone being left out!

Grinning at Amara, James replied, "They are really fast! Mum gave me hers 'cause she's returning to school to become a healer!"

Then he heard what the new boy said.

"You're a muggleborn?"

No wonder why he didn't know why that broom was so cool! If it wasn't for that, James would've just assumed that the other boy wasn't sporty, he didn't look sporty to him anyway.

"I'm James Potter, what's your name?"

Cernunnos looked at the girl that greeted him, and his jaw dropped in awe. She looked like she could be a model or some kind of pop singer. He wouldn't be surprised if she was some kind of celebrity with a face like that. His gay little heart was racing in admiration. Oh, she was an icon already!

"Hey, I'm Cernu," he responded, using the nickname he earned from his muggle friends. "I don't know anyone here..."

Aquila looked up and down the table, taking in all of the new sights, smells, and noises in the Great Hall. She had no real expectation for what house she would be in, but she was upset to be separated from Carina and her best friend Gabby. They had spent the entire summer talking about how they were going to have sleepovers every night and do everything together, but now they can't because their dorms are in two different sides of the castle!

She waved her arms high in the air hoping that her bestie would notice her.

Amaryllis smiled sweetly at the boy when he looked up at her and introduced himself. "Cernu, that's an interesting name, very unique." She complimented, her tone making it very clear that she was actually complimenting him and not being catty or anything like that. "That's okay! You'll meet lots of people soon enough. And you aren't the only first year who doesn't know anyone else I'm sure!" She told him reassuringly. "I'm one of Hufflepuff's prefects so if you ever need anything you can find me and I'll help if I can." She smiled.

Alaina had been sat at the gryffindor table during the sorting but ignored it for the most part. She spent half of it keeping an eye on Atticus and the other half she found herself staring at ptolemy rowle. Once the sorting ended, she stood and approached the slytherin table. She glared at the little first year sat beside ptolemy until the scurried away and she sat in the spot. She reached over to ptolemys plate and took a chip off it, biting it in half, "How was your summer Tolly?"
