Murtlaps at midnight (Javier)

Dominique made her way to the Black lake after receiving permission to go on the grounds from one of the professors. She was excited to see Javier. She couldn't really care less about the murtlaps. But seeing him was definitely worth it. She walked along the waters edge until she saw him, huddled down to the ground looking for the murtlaps, "Is that the best position to be in for murtlap hunting?"

Javier was confused as to why the murtlaps had started causing problems. They were a species that was rarely even seen since they tended to hide a lot more often than not... But for some reason, they had occasionally been biting students who came too close to their home areas. It was unlike them since they usually only attacked when stepped on. He was knelt down by the water's edge when he heard the familiar voice behind him. "It's an odd thing, they are generally much more docile unless stepped on. I'm not sure why they have been biting unprovoked lately." He said as he remained knelt down as he was.

Dominique kneeled down beside him, glad she hadn't tried to wear anything super cute because of all the dirt, "Maybe something has been provoking them?" It was an option that made sense. Murtlaps we're usually docile creatures, "Maybe the students have been antagonizing them and they're just defending themselves?"

Of course, the fact that the students could be provoking the creatures had crossed his mind. That had been his first thought. But how was he to prove something like that? Or to disprove it? He had to figure out some way to make for sure there wasn't something else going on with the creatures. "That was my first thought as well. They don't seem particularly aggressive right now, after all." He had been trying to see if any would attempt to bite him for some time without provoking them and nothing yet had happened. He was almost convinced that the students had to be messing with them at this point.

Dominique tried to think of a solution to his problem. She didn't really have one, which upset her. She wanted to help him, "Maybe you could set up cameras to record the murtlaps environment. Then if someone provokes them you would have it on video." She had done very well in muggle studies due to her grandfather's love of muggle items.
