bring him home (Macmillan)

Lien had been sat inside the dormitory ever since he had left Professor Riddle's office. He was on his bed, fully clothed in his uniform still, even his shoes were still laced up on his feet, and he was resting his chin on his hand. He was chewing lightly at the edge of his finger, and staring directly forwards.

Macmillan arrived to the dormitory following Chang's message; what did he want to show him? "Hey, bro," he greeted as he kicked a book out of his way.

@Lien Chang

"Please don't kick my books around," he sighed. "Hello." Although they'd known one another for a long time, this was still slightly awkward. He put his hands back on the bed and looked at him.

@Hyacinth Macmillan

"Sorry, bro, habit." Macmillan picked the book up and tossed it in Chang's direction before plopping onto his own bed. "What did ya want to show me?"

@Lien Chang

"Maybe it shouldn't be a habit. I don't kick around your belongings." Everyone was just... Disappointing, when it came down to it. "I haven't got anything to show you. I just wanted to talk to you."

@Hyacinth Macmillan

Well, Macmillan couldn't argue much there. "Just try to keep it closer to your bed, bro." It was a wonder how the dorm wasn't a complete death trap.

"Oh..."

He was already on his bed. "What did ya want to talk about then?"

"You know what," he said, glancing away. "I completely lost my mind."

@Hyacinth Macmillan

"I could've told you that."

Macmillan looked at him.

"Why?"

@Lien Chang

"Everything was just making me really angry. What happened to me that was really embarrassing, it may be extremely funny to everyone else, but I wouldn't laugh at anybody else's expense like that. So I don't like being around her. Am I truly cruel just because I prefer not to be trapped under her magic? The same magic that made me... you know."

He glanced at his shoes.

"So I just lashed out at her."

Macmillan shrugged. He was expecting him to talk about the thing with Alayna.

"Uh, yeah. What about all those other times?"

"Well I was coming to that part. Honestly, I don't know. I'm just getting fed up with all these bitches. Why do they get away with so much just because they can easily play the victim? It makes me sick."

He thought about it.

"Lilith was the same, she was just irritating me. And why wouldn't I use transfiguration on Rowle? It was hilarious. I still laugh about that now. I don't really know why I got in so much trouble for that one, actually."

He sat there thoughtfully.

"..."

Macmillan gave Chang a quizzical look.

"Dude, what the fuck. Even dealing with twat every day during holidays doesn't get me like that."

"I'm just not letting anyone walk all over me anymore."

He took off his shoes finally, and pushed them underneath his bed for once.

"It's tiresome to always be the loser. And then when the loser starts rising up and above it, everyone gets real funny about it."

"Nobody even looked at you that way until the dance. You're still more respected than Lazar."

This was getting weird.

"What's your motive other than not wanting girls to annoy you?"

@Lien Chang

"Chuh. Yes they did. I know they did. I know how people mock me for studying, for all the books that I have, for the money my family doesn't have. I really am a loser, well and truly. But that doesn't mean I can't start changing that."

He didn't need Macmillan's approval, he thought. So what.

"Motive?" He laughed darkly, "This is starting to sound like the questioning of a crime. So I'm a villain now?" He smirked.

"Have you been falling into any crowds the rest of us have been in the dark about?"

Macmillan was starting to get a strange feeling about Chang. He grimaced seeing him behave like that.

@Lien Chang

"What?"

He chuckled.

"I don't really do crowds particularly well, do I. I sacrificed all that to study! To be the perfect student!"

Was he always like this?

'You're just acting strange that I didn't know if you found a friend group you've been hanging with on the down low."

"No, I haven't."

He didn't know why he'd think that, but if he needed some clarification - there it was.

"You think I've been acting strange, I think I'm finally waking up to everything."

"How to live my life to the fullest, I guess."

He took a can of iced tea from the side of his bed and opened it, taking sip.

"I'm fed up of studying. What more can I learn? I already know things beyond the school syllabus. Maybe I'm ready to start enjoying myself."
