scheming girls (marilyn)

"Thanks for meeting me in here, Marilyn," she said, dressed in the short shorts of their wonderful gym kit.

Thalia had invited Marilyn to come and practice tumbling with her in the gym, and they had dragged some mats over in order to practice. She found that Lazar was often too nervous to do these things, so if she perfected it first with Marilyn, she would be able to show him what to do. They may have been in rival squads, but Thalia didn't see it being competitive in that way. She just wanted to have some fun.

"It's good there's not many people in here. At least one of the quidditch players is in here."

Instead of wearing the gym uniform, Marilyn opted for her cheerleading fit as it was so much cuter and not as tacky as those gym shorts. She also enjoyed reminding people that she was HEAD cheerleader. She stood near one of the mats tying her hair up into a ponytail; her hair couldn't get in the way!

Her main reason for helping Thalia out was that she hoped Wade would be there lifting weights. Wadeykins was so dreamy and handsome; he was the best eye candy Hogwarts offered!

Smiling, Marilyn clapped her hands as she glanced around the gym. "It's no problem!" Maybe while they were working together, she could see if anything about James would trickle down; she needed something to report to Alayna eventually.

"There has to be! I wonder if Wade's in here..." She sighed dreamily just thinking about those muscles of his...

"I cannae get it," she admitted, shaking her head. "MacKenna has some muscles I suppose, but he has a wee bit of an attitude problem. Scratch that - a huge attitude problem. How can ye stand how he grunts and scowls all the time?"

Thalia started doing some stretches thoughtfully. She considered Marilyn in her cheerleader uniform, but wasn't sure why she was bothering to soil it for practice. Thalia just wanted something flexible and practical. The blue colour was probably the best out of the four houses, anyway.

"He's always causing problems. Especially for Maverick."

"Something about him is just so dreamy and hunky. I think he's a big teddy bear deep down... My Wadeykins!"

She clutched her hands together and pressed them towards her chest just swooning at one of her many daydreams about Wade. How wonderful it'd be if he asked her to a ball! They could wear matching ensembles! With a corsage around her wrist! Unhhhh.

Marilyn swayed around as her mind recalled one of the cheers she had come up for each of the team members at the match. "That's just how he is!"

"Uhm... aye, totally."

A big teddy bear? Wade MacKenna? Were they talking about the same person?

"But Maverick... I can't stand looking at him. It's like my chest just leaps out and slaps me around the face, then I jist can't keep my arms or me legs straight! It's like everything turns to jelly, ye know? Do ye ever feel that way with MacKen- Wade?"

She was into that Yankee? Maverick was alright... At least he knew how to play and actually attended practice unlike Potter!

"When it comes to Wadeykins, I feel charmed every time I look at him! He's just soooo dreamy..."

Marilyn, despite her writing skills for the school newspaper, wasn't the most verbose.

"Aye, but thinking about someone a lot of the time and ye can't do anything about it... well, it sucks."

She nodded to Marilyn to indicate she was going to do a flip off her hands, and mentally prepared herself to do so.

"I mean, I could do something about it. I could ask him out... but it's easier said than done. He's completely going to reject me - I jist know it. There's so many other girls who'd be better for him, ye know?"

Thalia wasn't the type to have low self confidence, but having a crush completely crippled it sometimes.

Marilyn frowned and nodded in agreement feeling for her fellow girl; crushes were so hard like that! That's why she kept up hope waiting for Wade. Other than that, she at least had romance novels to live vicariously from. It was good reading to have in class!

"Me? Ask out Wade? If a dance was about girls asking boys out, sure! But in general? No way! That's isn't how it's done!"

"It's the modern times now, we can definitely ask them out! Especially when boys are so hopeless like that anyway, it dunnae come across as desperate."

Perhaps Marilyn was more traditional. She definitely was more of girly girl than Thalia was, and that was saying something. She wasn't exactly a tom boy or anything.

"I think Maverick's type is someone more girly, but I don't think he'd like a high maintenance girl? Maybe someone more in-between the spectrum, because I can't imagine him with another quidditch player or an athletic type. I could be wrong. People surprise ye." She thought for a moment, "It's hard to know what MacKenna's type is though, he just seems too clueless to actually date..."

"But what if you get the wrong idea?! That's why boys should always ask girls out! They're so much more straightforward..."

It didn't matter how many hints in the world she could give to find out how much Wade liked her; it was preferable to play divination games by plucking flower petals. The typical girly, crushing on a guy activity. Running her hands through her ponytail, Marilyn nodded in acknowledgment as she listened to Thalia go on about Maverick.

"I just know Wade likes me enough to where he's the only one allowed to tease me!"

"But what if another girl asks out your crush, and he says yes? Then you've just wasted your time hoping he'd do it."

It was painful to try and get your head around this stuff! Thalia honestly felt as though Maverick was perfect, but she was blinded by the pain of having a crush. Everything that they did and said suddenly felt like a gospel: even if she were to disagree with something he'd said, she'd suddenly find herself agreeing to it two minutes later.

"He says that?" Wow.

Marilyn didn't consider such a situation and thus avoided answering the question. What boy wouldn't want to ask her out once they gained the courage? Of course, she was once again ignoring she was amongst the many students who lacked a date to the dance. Even that geek LAZAR got one! Insanity!

"He so does!" she exclaimed jumping up and down. "And he gets on anyone who tries to mess with me! Sooooo sweet, isn't he?!"

"Whoa. Then yer practically going out already..."

She thought of the time that Maverick had come to her rescue following Alayna's outburst. The bitch had said she was pathetic for fancying him, and Maverick had put his arm around her. What had he said, again? Something like she can hardly be blamed for fancying him? Hah - he knew he was a dream.

"Are we sure MacKenna even likes girls though? I heard some rumours about him being... team James Potter."

Practically going out?! "Now he has to actually ask me out!" Head cheerleader and best beater of the team TOGETHER?! They'd be power couple material!

Her jaw dropped offended at the presumption that Wadeykins was gay. "Ewwww, he's not! He thinks James is just going to stare at them in the changing rooms! He won't miss him if he ghosts the match!"
