"Lazar!"

The other Ravenclaws didn't appreciate Thalia calling out his name at the top of her voice in the common room, but she thought generally yelling into a crowd was a good way of picking someone out from it. Spotting him sat in there, she made a brisk beeline through the couches and chairs until she arrived next to him. She flung herself on the couch so that it bounced them slightly.

"Yer've got to help me with recruitment fer the cheerleaders!"

Lazar was sitting in the common room scribbling all over one of his pages of notes. He still couldn't believe that he'd eventually be able to go on a date with Hazel. That'll show MacKenna! He was going to become a real man! His doodling was disturbed the moment his cousin called out for him. Before he could even recover from the fright, it felt as if he was about to be launched through the ceiling as soon as Thalia plopped down onto the couch.

"H-hi, Thalia," he greeted scrambling for her to not see his embarrassing margin markings. "Y-you mean not many girls are signing up..?" Oh no!

Naturally, her eyes shot right to where he was trying to cover up.

"Lazar, if yer trying to cover something up, dinnae make it so obvious," she sighed, leaning over towards him with an expectant grin. "Cheerleader stuff can wait. What ye hiding from me?"

"N-nothing I swear!"

Oh, what was the use? He was always an awful liar! Lazar slowly moved his arms from his notes.

"Reh-recently, I-I met this girl in the bathroom. She was in the wrong one, n-not me, and she said Ha-Hazel has a crush on me! The girl was very pretty too... I somehow kept it together..."

"A girl in the boy's bathroom told you Hazel Cartwright had a crush on ye?"

She felt like massaging her temples. Somehow repeating what he said helped her make sense of it. The situation sounded pretty bizarre to her.

"I don't know Lazar... it sounds a wee bit strange to me. Who was this girl?"

Lazar nodded. That was how it happened! How could it be odd? Moaning Myrtle always travels through the castle's plumbing!

"I-I didn't get her name, b-but she was a blonde. A v-very pretty blonde. She's older than us to be friends with Hazel..."

"Aye..."

She didn't want to say that it was extremely unlikely that Hazel liked him in that way. No one said things like that, especially not to their own relative. Perhaps it really was true - who knows. She didn't know Hazel very well, or her friends. Either something very malicious was happening, it was a big misunderstanding or it was completely true. She'd do her best to protect him, though.

"So now fer the cheerleading thing!" she reminded him, "Ye were right. We're not doing so great on numbers. I was jist thinking to m'self... what if we had some kinda display to recruit the lads and lasses? Once they see that boys can join too, there could be more interest."

"Th-that'd be good! I-I th-think my uniform needs changed... If I wear the skirt, Mac-MacKenna and his gang will just laugh at me..."

How could he be a man if he did cheerleading stuff in a skirt?! Lazar looked around the common room. "Wh-where would we do it..? During lunch?"

"Uh... Aye, that will have to get changed. It will be a pair of shorts and a T-shirt, but better than the P.E. kit."

There was no way she was having Lazar come out in that ridiculous uniform.

"We could do it in here, ye reckon? Seeing as we're only recruiting Ravenclaws. An' I thunk a bit of sound in here other than the wee sound of quills scratching would be good for morale. People will want te join in!"

Oh, good! He won't have to wear that PE uniform for cheerleading! Lazar didn't like how it made him look like a puny chicken; it was pathetic and humiliating!

"Th-that's a smart idea! Muh-maybe the quidditch players will appreciate our enthusiasm! We need to make it a spec-spectacle. We could also use logic to persuade them into j-juh-joining..."
