don't look at me (alayna)

He couldn't really avoid Alayna when he had classes with her. The truth was, he was still embarrassed about what happened at the party, and thought he'd just let her come to him if she ever wanted to. James had suggested that Alayna slept around and that annoyed him, but he couldn't find it within himself to dislike her or anything. She was so gorgeous, and thought that he was handsome himself...

Lien was looking at her in Transfiguration class every now and then, but he turned back to his work whenever she turned her head. When class was over, he walked out from the classroom and strolled down the corridor. It seemed like Alayna had already gone. He felt his heart sink.

Alayna had felt Lien watching her the whole transfiguration lesson. It was kinda cute when he tried to be slick, like he hasn't been watching her. But she didn't know why he was avoiding her lately. After classes, she put a little speed in her step to be able to catch up to him with those long legs of his, "Hey are you ok?" She asked, when she finally did catch up to him, "I feel like I haven't seen you since the party."

He heard her voice and slowed down slightly, but he couldn't bring himself to look at her. He just looked straight ahead of him as he matched her pace.

"Hi... um, yeah."

His face turned red and he turned it slightly so she couldn't see.

"I just... it was crazy. You know? And I wasn't myself..."

Alayna laughed as they walked, "Yeah I understand that. Potters stuff is usually pretty strong. You should have seen Carina once hers kicked in. She was practically dry humping Rowle. But you did pretty good for your first time. You didn't flash anyone. So bonus points." Why wouldn't he even look at her? "is there something wrong with my face? You gonna look at me?"

"It was pretty intense..."

When she mentioned his hesitance, he turned his eyes to her for less than a second before looking away again. He scratched the tip of his nose.

"No! You're fine... I mean, you're great." He was blushing hard. "I just feel embarrassed about what happened," he admitted quietly, "It seemed as though you fled pretty quickly, and then you were getting all cosy with Ptolemy Rowle." There was a hint of bitterness in his tone and he was frowning.

Alayna tried to smile when he looked at her but he looked away just as quickly. She stopped walking and grabbed his hand, "Hey. Seriously. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone has a first time." She looked at him as he spoke and frowned a bit, "I'm always close with Ptolemy. I always have been. I don't see that changing in the future." She continued walking, letting go of his hand, "If I didn't know any better. I'd say you were jealous of Rowle."

When she held his hand, he felt momentarily delighted. But it ended as quickly as it came. She was walking again with a fresh accusation. Jealous of Rowle? He wanted to laugh, but he couldn’t. If he’d managed to laugh, it would have been so false that it wouldn’t have helped him any.

“I’ve heard some unsettling rumours about you, you know. That once you’re done with one boy, you jump onto the next without having any regard to feelings. Knowing that, how could I not suspect that you’re moving on from me?”

Lien’s steps suddenly became heavier, and angrier.

"Well maybe the same sluts spreading those rumors should close both their mouths and their legs." She raised an eyebrow at him, "Moving on? We're not in a relationship. You don't have some claim over me, Lien Chang. I will talk to who I want to. I will hang out with who I want to. And if you've got some kind of problem with that, you can not be around me anymore. That's your choice." Her footsteps getting quicker as she got madder. She had thought he was a nice guy. And now he was slut shaming her. Which was funny since Alayna was actually a virgin. But she didn't dare tell anyone that.

They were both speeding through the hallways like a couple of panthers trying to race one another. They were getting very funny looks, but Lien wasn't paying attention. His face was red and his insides were writhing with a mixture of humiliation, hurt and frustration.

"I don't care who you talk to," he lied, as it clearly made him jealous. "I just don't like the idea of you with anyone else!"

Alayna let out a teasing laugh as she kept walking, "I'm not even the empath of our group and I can tell that's a lie. You care. It's written all over your face." She stopped her movement, a bit shocked at what he said next, "Why? Why is that?" She asked, her arms crossed over her chest

"Because!" he said, breathing for air as they stopped again. His hair was askew from the velocity.

But he had a bigger problem. Why did he not like the thought of Alayna being with anyone else? He couldn't love her, could he? After such a short time, that was unlikely. So it must have been something else...

"I'm just... old fashioned," he said, pushing his glasses back up his nose. His face was still very red. "I think if you kiss someone, and you're interested in one another, then you shouldn't be kissing anyone else."

Maybe that was the truth. Maybe. He didn't know himself that he was just possessive.

"You're just... really beautiful," he said in a low voice, feeling all the more embarrassed.

"Because is not an answer." She shouted back, getting more and more frustrated. She glared at the people passing by who stared at them, "Fuck off!" She shouted before they scurried off like little rats. She turned back to Lien and bit at her lower lip, "I didn't kiss him. If that makes you feel any better. And I definitely didn't sleep with him. I haven't done that.... With anyone." She said, deciding to be honest with him. She smiled when he called her beautiful, "Well. If you wanna keep me around you gotta get control on that Jealousy, Li." She smirked at the little nickname she bestowed upon him just then, "You wanna keep me around, right?"

"Oh..."

He was flabbergasted. That wasn't how he'd perceived her to be at all. He wanted to tell her that he hadn't - you know - either, but it was different for a boy to say it.

"Y-yes... I want to still be around you. Of - of course I do." He smiled weakly at her.

Alayna nodded to confirm they were in agreement, "Good. You get control on your jealousy and I stay around. If you start it up again, you lose me." It was plain and simple. She no longer felt like going to class at that point, "Wanna go do something else?" She asked, looking up at him, "I was gonna try on some dresses for the ball. I could use some opinions and help trying them on." She said. Those zippers we're hard to reach sometimes.

He made no further comment on the subject of jealousy. Lien knew that he could try not to feel things, but feelings of envy and spite struck him very suddenly and mercilessly: he could go from being quite a nice guy, to being ugly on the inside. Sometimes he felt that side of him - the bitter side - became more and more apparent as time went on.

"Well I'm done for the day so-"

He was about to say he was going to study, but he stopped quite suddenly. His throat went a little dry, and he forced himself to stop gaping. "R-really? You want my opinion?" He was thinking more of seeing her bare back as he zipped her into dresses. "That... sounds fun."

Well fuck.

"Yeah. You dress rather sharp for a boy. And I like to have a straight man's opinion over a gay ones. As much as I love my brother, I need the opinion of a guy that's gonna be watching me all night. Thinking of ripping the dress off. That's what I'm going for." She smiled when he said it sounded fun, "Great. Let's go." She said taking his hand and walking towards Gryffindor tower.

Ripping the dress off was all he was thinking of.

He needed her to take his hand, because he’d turned slightly dazed. Before he realised what was happening, they were walking towards the Gryffindor tower. He knew the path: he’d seen other Gryffindors branch off at a certain point when they all came out of Transfiguration class.

“Wait - are you sure I can...” He’d never been in another house common room before. It wasn’t really allowed.

Ripping the dress off he thought again, and didn’t think any more on the matter.

“So - uh... what kind of dresses am I ripping off?” he said stupidly, then went red. Slight slip of the tongue there. “Er! I mean, which ones h-have you got?”

"Yeah. It'll be fine. Ashton Harrington comes in all the time to see Charlotte." She approached the final staircase and started ascending when she heard his skin over his words. She stopped and looked at him with a smile, "If you're lucky." She said before finishing the climb. She spoke the password to the portrait and stepped inside, pulling him in after her. She walked up the stair cases and since she was also walking, the case didnt turn into a slide under them. She stepped into her room, "I've got load." She gestured the the bed covered in stacks of dresses.

He was in a girl’s dormitory - Alayna’s dormitory. It had a nicer smell to it than his, a much nicer smell. It was vaguely floral. The Gryffindor ones had nice decor as well: very cosy and comfortable. He was on edge about being in there though. He kept glancing over his shoulder expecting one of her dorm mates to come wandering in.

“Okay - well... um. I’ll turn around and just... then you put it on. Tell me when you’re ready.”

Just looking at her bed was making his heart beat heavily against his chest. He turned around and faced the door instead, giving her the privacy.

"Lien you're fine to just sit on the chair." She pointed to the big plush chair in the corner. "Just close your eyes." She said teasing him. She walked past him, brushing her hand against his arm as she went to the bed and grabbed the first dress. She slid out of the clothes she had on and slipped on the dress. She got it up around she shoulders then cleared her throat, "I need a zip up."

He reluctantly sat on the chair, or more felt around for it, because he kept his eyes firmly closed. It would be tempting to open them, but he would resist it. Alayna seemed to have this perception of him being more of a gentleman, so he was going to abide by it.

When she spoke, he jumped up quickly and went to assist her. He pulled her hair gently to one side, and zipped the dress. Her skin was warm to the touch. Then he stepped back.

“You look really good...” He murmured, blushing.

Alayna smiled as he fumbled for the chair. He really was a little dorky, it was cute. She felt his fingers on her skin as he zipped up the dress once she had it on, "Thank you." She kept her hair to the side, it looked a bit good that way. She stepped to the mirror and looked at the dress. It was a long redd gown with a slit down the side of it. It was cute. Sexy really. But she wanted something more, "Not this one. Next. Help me out of it?"

He was looking at her thigh coming through the slit of the skirt.

"Er - right. Yeah."

He fumbled a little, but managed to zip the dress down to her lower back. There was her bra. Just... There. He forced himself to sit back down and cover his eyes again.

Alayna smiled to herself. She knew he was a nervous wreck, it was adorable. She stepped out of the dress and hung it up before taking the bra off. She put on the next dress which was much tighter and much shorter and didn't require a bra. It would look tacky with one. She stepped in front of the mirror to take a look before turning to him, "I like this one. It's definitely the sexy vibe I was going for. I just don't know if I want one this short."

"Shit..."

He'd opened his eyes and couldn't help that from escaping him. Immediately he crossed his legs over. He put his fingers up to his mouth and couldn't stop looking. It was like too much of a good thing, and his body was responding to it.

"Mhm," he managed to utter in a strained voice. "Looks good." But he wasn't going to move just yet.
