my darling

Katherine was sad to realize that the summer holidays were nearly over. Before she knew it, her darling children would be headed back to school and she would no longer be able to spend nearly as much time with them as she would like! Not only that but her beloved husband would be returning to the school as well. It was safe to say this time of year was a very abysmal one for Mrs. Riddle. Though, she never let it show that she was sad about it. She wanted both her husband and her children to be successful and to live the best lives they could since she was doing just that herself. But she was hoping to spend the most time with them as possible before they left!

Her heels tapped against the hardwood floors as she walked through the hall to the living room where she hoped that she might find at least one of her children. As she entered the room, she saw Mackenzie sitting in the room and a smile came to her perfectly painted lips. "Kenzie, my darling, how are you?" She said as she closed the distance between them and took a seat near her daughter.

Mackenzie was in the living room reading a book she had found in her father's office with Magnus at her feet. A hiss from her companion told her someone was coming and she slid the book under the pillow and quickly pulled out a fashion tabloid. She wasn't necessarily supposed to have that book and she certainly wasn't supposed to go into her father's office without permission. She smiled at her mother, hopefully to distract her from her swift movement, "Hello mother. I'm okay. Just reading up on the latest trash gossip to talk to Layna about on the train."
