Rose loved it outdoors and she really loved sitting out by the black lake when it wasn't too cold. Since it was still early in the school year, she could get by with a thick sweater without being too cold. So, she had brought a blanket with her and laid it on the ground near the lake and sat on it. For a while, she just sat there staring out over the glassy surface of the lake. She always loved it when the giant squid would make an appearance and always watched for it to happen, though, it didn't seem to happen nearly as much as she would like! After a while of nothing marring the smooth surface, she dug in her bag and pulled out a book of fairytales and opened it up to begin reading as the sun was still up enough to keep it from being too chilly outdoors by the lake.
