here and now ((hazel))

Weeks ago, she had received an Owl from Hogwarts stating that she was to be the Head Girl for her seventh and last year at Hogwarts. Cherry still couldn't believe even hours after the inaugural prefect meeting on the train. It was nice to be able to work alongside some people she got along with, but it felt weird to suddenly have so much power given to her. What was she going to do until she was back in the castle having to be on her very best behavior..? Time to find Hazel!

Cherry got out of her compartment and began shouting through the carriage, "Hazel? Haaaaaaaaazel? Where are you?!"

She missed her bestie!

Hazel walked through the corridor saying hi to each of her friends. It was nice to see them and anything to avoid having to associate with Jovian. A familiar voice made her look and she spotted Cherry.

“Cherry! I’m coming!” she said running over to give Cherry a hug. She missed her best friend too and needed her right now.

There she was! Cherry obviously wasn't going to fill the prefect meeting with banter and catch-up chatter. She gave her friend a very tight squeeze before pulling away. Hazel was always quite pretty although she acknowledged the chances of having her once are nil.

"How was your summer?!"

The question which Hazel was nervous for Cherry to hear the answer.

"I'm getting married."

That was a major bombshell.

"You're what..?"

Did Cherry hear her correctly?

:"My parents finally decided to tell him they found me a suitor."

She hoped Cherry could sense the disdain in her voice.

"It's horrible, Cherry,"

She looked at her friend in shock. She read about such arrangements in books about wizarding society, but she couldn't believe that even American purebloods were practicing such an archaic concept.

"Why..?" was all Cherry could ask.

Hazel liked to think it was because her parents wanted to secure a political alliance between the Cartwrights and the Medinas, but she didn’t know anymore.

“I’d like to think it was for a political alliance, or at least something to keep it together.” she said with a sigh. Although she felt like it was her mother’s doing more than anything since she had a lot of power. “I’m not happy about it, and it’s with a downgrading piece of shit.” she sighed.

Frowning, Cherry patted her friend on the back. "How about we go into a compartment, and you can tell me all about it?"

If her fiance, that was weird to think about, would hurt her, Cherry was going to do whatever it took to make sure he knows to not do such a thing!

Hazel nodded and tried to find the closest compartment.

“Come on”

Entering the compartment, Cherry took one of the seats on the left.

"Who is it?"

Hazel sighed, she knew Cherry would be uncomfortable.

“It’s Jovian.”

"Of all people?"

Cherry was perplexed. Couldn't her parents have chosen literally anyone else in their class?

That was Hazel point's exactly like there were plenty of purebloods in their class.

"My point exactly," she said with a huge sigh. "I want to literally take the first ship back to New York."

If that was an option, Hazel didn't mind taking it.

Grabbing Hazel's hands, Cherry glanced at her concerned.

"What the hell were your parents thinking? Do I need to have a talk with his misogynistic ass?"

Hazel had no fucking clue what Tabitha and Jedidiah were thinking, but she liked to think that Jedidiah had been very weak to Tabitha due to him being the type that let Tabitha do everything.

She clenched her best friends hands and shrugged. “I’d like to know what they were thinking, because I’m sure if my dad knew anything of he was, he’d never agree to it.” she said with a sigh. Her dad had been a shrewd politician, but had a heart of gold under all of his business. “I don’t want any trouble though with Jovian. I don’t want Louis to worry about his cos, causing trouble, but we need to do something.” she sighed.

"So, you're saying your mother was more of the decision maker..?" That didn't surprise Cherry in the slightest bit. Whenever she's gone over to the Cartwright's, Tabitha would sometimes outright ignore her or pick on her for her size. Their positive or neutral interactions were few and far between. "You could say you're gay!" Cherry suggested with her face glowing at the thought. Wishful thinking. "I don't know if they'd believe it..."

Hazel nodded when Cherry said that, “She always is and for the icon she is in pop culture you’d think she find someone with a little more class.” she said with fustration which sounded terrible of Hazel, but Jovian scared her a lot. She gave a look at Cherry, “You know my mom will see through that especially when I’ve had guys over, and did things with them.” she sighed, but it was certainly an idea to consider. She held Cherry’s hand, “I had plans to start my internship next year.” she sighed.

Her mother was hopeless. They both dealt with mothers of different kinds of crazy; it was one of those things that brought them together as friends. "You could just say you were closeted," Cherry brushed off with a shrug. 'For all she knows, we could've been a thing the entire time..." Ha.

"I haven't figured out exactly what I want to major in..."

She’d like to think Tabby would figure out that she was lying, but she knew it was something. She had a lot of options, “I do have a possible proposal though if you’d like to hear about it?” she said as she thought about Louis for a little bit.

He had definitely been something on her mind but Cherry had a good idea. “What are some of the options for a major?” she asked Cherry curious about what her best friend had been looking in.

"A possible proposal? That quickly?" That was interesting. Who and what could it be? "Are you going to fake your death and evade the authorities to get out of it?" Now that she thought about it, that was a bit too difficult to pull off with how insular the wizarding world was. Everyone seems to know each other's business.

Cherry went through her backpack (it was handy to have during train duty) until she pulled out a folder she had put together with all of her post-Hogwarts options. "Too many to list. I just don't want to be one of those people who end up with a new curriculum every year..."
