It's crazy (Victoire)

It may have been completely crazy, but Fred was at Nilton University.

He was sat in the waiting area of the student centre where they managed new applicants. It was quite quiet, but nobody had come to him in at least fifteen minutes.

Bored, he got a fanged frisbee he'd found near his h,ut, and sent it flying around the room.

Victoire had to check and make sure one of her scholarships had actually gone through; she didn't want to pay more than she needed even though she knew Bill would gladly help with that. She did like being self-sufficient in some form. Much to her surprise, Fred was sitting around.

Seeing an empty seat beside him, she took it. "Freddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, what are you doing hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?!"

"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~" He said, mimicking her voice, then laughing a bit.

He was glad it was Victoire and not somebody else - like Macmillan. He would probably give him a very patronising lecture on why he shouldn't be there in the first place. He didn't need undermining right now.

"Alright, don't tell anyone," He said, putting his arm around her shoulder and leaning in as though they were criminals. "I heard they do a course here for dropouts and those who failed their Hogwarts exams. Was gonna look into it."

"Ooooh, that'd be so great for you, it would!" Victoire exclaimed with a very excited squeal. It would be nice to see Fred more often!

She smiled and pulled him into a brief hug. "You would get to join Louis and I, yep!"

Just as he got a hug from her and was patting her shoulder, the frisbee flew back and hit him right between the eyes.

"Bastard!" He pulled back from her, rubbing his nose. The frisbee fell to the floor.

"Yeah well it sounds nice and all that, but I gotta appeal to get a bloody wand first. That's gonna take some time and effort." Effort wasn't his thing. "How're you doin' anyway?" he asked, realising he hadn't really spoken to her after certain events on new year's.

Victoire watched as the frisbee hit Fred right in the face. She giggled briefly before picking it up from the floor.

"I don't know the process, but you could try getting letters of recommendation from your co. workers, you could!" That couldn't have been too hard! "I guess I'm doing okay. I'm glad classes started back up so I could have something to do."

He hadn't thought of that. He supposed they all liked him there and wouldn't write a bad word against him. Surely he'd proven himself enough by being a decent groundskeeper.

Fred smiled slightly at her.

"You spoken to Dom since?" He asked.

She shook her head. "I still need to apologize, but it's so hard actually trying to see her. It's awkward all-around, and I just don't know what to do!"

He thought there was no real use asking him what to do. Things involving expressions of feelings and whatnot, was not his speciality. He tried to think what Aunt Hermione would say.

"How about ya write her a letter, sayin' everythin'. Might take a few goes to get it all, y'know, not just blergh!" He pretended to barf over parchment for perspective purposes.

"What if she thinks I'm not being sincere?! So much can be lost via handwriting, it can!" Victoire pouted as she placed her chin on the palm of her hand. Hmmmm.

"What's going on in your world?!"

"Nothin' much. Usual dung," Literally and figuratively this time around. "Apart from havin' some major life breakthroughs." Like deciding he was fed up with not being a real wizard.

"Hey!" He cried suddenly, tugging her sleeve. "What if ya pretend I'm Dom? Like role play! I can play Dom, hang on! He took off his hat, pulled his dreads forward over his shoulders, and fluttered his lashes. Putting on a female voice he said: "I'm ready..."

"Like what?!" Victoire wondered in curiosity; she always liked to hear what was going on with her relatives.

She ended up laughing at Fred attempting to make his voice high-pitched. "Think I'll talk to ma mere about it instead! She'd know what to do!"

"So I got ready for nothin'!" He accused her, in the most girly way possible.

Then he dropped the act. He didn't want to feel like a girl for another second, so he stretched out his legs and slung his arms behind his head like a real geezer. If he had a burp brewing, he would have let that out as well.

"Hey Vic," He said, "Could ya imagine me as a Dad?" He asked, out of the blue.

Fred laughed nervously.

"Hah hah... yeah. Nor can I! You're right, we're all too bloody young!"

Now he couldn't really tell her. Or could he? Maybe he could. But maybe not. While his mind raced, he looped one of his dreads around and around his finger until it pulled at his head: "Ow."

"Like it's so wild to me how my baby brother is about to graduate! We're getting old, Freddyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

They weren't even that much older than him.

"Ow indeed!"

"I ain't gettin' old, I decided. Gonna still be like this when I'm forty, just with a back problem."

He laughed.

Victoire giggled as she began banging the frisbee like a tambourine.

"I'm a bit envious of Dom... I also find it crazy that she did a whole 180 and decided to settle down like that..."

"Ya envious of her?" He asked, surprised. He didn't expect her to say that.

Fred had never heard Victoire sound so vulnerable before, but now he actually understood why. He may have been fairly immature, but he could understand why she would feel upset.

He put his arms around her shoulders and hugged her for a while. "Argh Vic. Ya little idiot. Why didn't ya say to anyone before? Does ya Mum even know?" Now he definitely couldn't tell her about Samara.

She was glad she could count on Fred when she was in an hour of need. It helped that they have always been quite close due to being the eldest of their generation of the family.

"I-I don't know. I guess I didn't want to make people sad..." Victoire was always one of the most upbeat members of the family; she got excited very easily. She shook her head. "I haven't said anything to her about it..."

"Tell ya Mum and sister. They'd wanna support ya! You need that kinda stuff right now. Girls can't go through that stuff on their own."

He was glad he'd read those pregnancy books in the library now. One of them said this sort of stuff, like the trauma of miscarriage. It wasn't something he'd really thought about before now.

"She will, ya dolt. She's ya sister."

And would probably understand more of why she did what she did.
