my favourite game ((open))

Somehow sneaking away from all the supervision he had, Hugo managed his way to a pier filled with all sorts of games. "A carnival?!" he exclaimed with the gumball in his mouth making a slight impediment. Hugo ran around until he stopped in front of a generic carnival game involving throwing balls at bottles. Only two knuts?! That's a good price!

"Can I have one of those balls?" he asked the person operating the stand giving a constrained smile. Hugo pulled out some knuts and placed it on the counter as he began aiming at the bottles.

This Blackrock place was pretty good. It may not have been as good as places on the continent: Dubai and Bali being two of her favourite places. But at least she could wear her new sundress, which was a lot better than what everyone else was wearing. They were all in dribs and drabs as though this were a river estuary.

Sapphira, with her large lot of candyfloss, was nearing Hugo Weasley at some kind of game stand. She still hadn't forgiven him for what happened last Christmas. So, when he was taking aim at the bottles, she deliberately pushed into him.

That would show him, all right.

Hey?! What was that for? Hugo's aim was thrown off and he inadvertently threw his ball a bit of the right of the bottle triangle only knocking down one of them.

"Big person, can I have a do-over?" he asked bringing out his best puppy dog eyes.

Hugo looked around trying to find the source until he saw Sapphira. Why was she always so mean to him? "Meanie!"

She gave him a very odd look, as though he'd uttered gibberish.

"'Meanie?'" She repeated, then laughed mockingly. "Who says that anymore? I haven't heard that since I was, what - six?"

Her tone was deliberately derisive.

"You're so immature, Hugo. Gosh."

"But you are a meanie! You're always rude and mean to me!" He just couldn't get why. "It's immature to be a meanie!"

"Did your Mummy tell you that?" She mocked, putting on a babyish voice.

Then she tapped her smirking lips, exaggerating thoughtfulness.

"Well, she can't exactly tell you anything anymore. Can she?" Sapphira's eyes sharpened. "Even when she's dead, and you're still a little Mummy's boy." She snickered cruelly.

He began tearing up. Why did she have to bring up his mother? Hugo missed her a lot, and she was using it as a punting point.

"I wouldn't want you to be without your mummy!"

"Well I have mine, don't I?"

She laughed at him crying. Good. It was good that he was crying. He was such a dope.

"Why are you so disgusting? Urgh. Your nose is running everywhere." She curled her nose up. "Yuck!"

"I can't help that my nose runs when I cry!" He clumsily wiped off his tears with his arms. Hugo really needed to talk to his dad about his mean classmate soon.
