Evelyn was eating breakfast at the Hufflepuff table reading the latest addition to the prophet, annoyed with how her mother had twisted a lot of stories. Taking a few bits of her breakfast, she looked to the closest person, and she said. "You think it'd be easy to tell the truth. Why the hell did I have to end up being Edith Grayson's daughter?" she asked with a sigh.

As Penelope was spreading some jam on her toast, she listened to her friend Evelyn complain about her mother; she couldn't fault her for doing so, especially when comparing Edith to her own mother. It seemed like Edith never had very maternal moments.

She made a good point, and she knew Penelope's mother was not much different. Maybe a little bit better at being mum than Edith Grayson was. "I do intend on forging my own legacy, you know my aunt is willing to help me after we graduate." she said with a smile. To her the woman she called her aunt had been much better at being a mother than her own. "Does your mother actually care about you?" she asked with a sigh hoping Penelope had it better.

Penelope nodded. "She often took me to events where she was reporting, but it was so we could spend time together! She told me before that I was the best thing to happen to her..."
She felt bad for her housemate that her mother didn't seem to be the same way.
