The Rowle Wedding (tagged, invite)

On the rolling grounds of the Rowle estate, a large marquee had been assembled to contain the wedding ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the reception. While the exterior had been decorated with elaborate garlands, water features and ribbon bunting, the interior was where everything came alive: large flower displays that touched the top of the canopy, ice sculptures, reupholstered seating, centre pieces, chandeliers; it was very clear that this couple was rich and they had no modesty about it.

The guests were already arriving for the ceremony, welcomed in with a live band playing tasteful, classical music. Ptolemy greeted each and every guest as they came through, shook hands, excelled in his pleasantries, smiled so much that his cheeks hurt. In just under an hour's time, Alayna and her bridesmaids would be ready. They were all currently inside the house doing finishing touches, he assumed. Ptolemy hadn't seen her since the night before.

"So lovely to see you, Mrs Selwyn. Mr Selwyn - a pleasure..."

As he gushed and fawned over the guests, his best man stood very stiffly next to him, murmuring at best. When Mr and Mrs Selwyn had passed through and there was a gap in the arrivals, Ptolemy turned to him in annoyance: "You could at least try to be less like a board, Burke," he hissed at him, out of the corner of his mouth. "People will think they're coming to a bloody funeral."

"Good evening, Astrid," chorused Hector and Ptolemy at the same time.

Ptolemy raised a brow at him.

Hector frowned back at him.

Shaking it off, Ptolemy smiled at Carina's compliment of him. Yes - he was handsome. A handsome boy marrying a beautiful girl. Listening to the girls and Hector speak, Ptolemy suddenly came over a little pale. He was looking past them at a large floral wreath embodying his and Alayna's beaming photograph from her birthday party.

What if...

He couldn't control it...

And Perdita was leaning into Alayna when she was asked to kiss the bride...

"I think we should find our seats soon enough," Thius stated calmly to the others, his eyes still very much focused on Bellona. "Rowle will get on us if we don't."

He glared at Selwyn pointedly. "And remember what a filter is, Selwyn. We dont want the bride on a rampage." Unless it involved Avery.

Hmm... perhaps too much flattery? He smiled weakly. When Astrid came and he and Ptolemy greeted her at the same time, suddenly everything seemed more like a slapstick. Both Astrid and Andrea were stood in front of him at the same time, although at least Astrid was only acknowledging him at best...

"Oh - yes. Yes, thank you. I can only hope that Sakura and I have a wedding as lovely as this one."

Sakura - his bride...

He didn't really have the time to be daydreaming though. Andrea had asked Ptolemy a question, and he hadn't answered. Looking at him, he'd gone slightly pale.

"Fine, fine. I'll just eat my fill on napkins..."

With that remark, he trudged off, reuinting himself with his parents. His Mother seemed to be giving him a telling off about his attitude. He sat next to her looking dejected.

"Yes - let's find our seats..." she sighed, brushing everything off about what Selwyn had said.

He was just a silly little boy.

Smiling at Thius, she looped her arm around his and took towards the seating area, where there were marks for places for everyone. Good - her and Thius had been placed together with his family.

Carina felt her heart rate increase and was very confused until she looked at Ptolemy. She bit at her bottom lip for a moment before placing a hand on his arm, "Hey. Youve got this. She loves you. Every part of you. Just focus on her and everything will be perfect." Maybe it wasn't her job, as much as Hectors, to give him a motivational speech. But she knew Ptolemy pretty well enough to see what was causing his panic.

Minnie was already sitting next to Millicent and bothering her when all sorts of quips when her cousin-nephew and his partner joined them!

"Lookey, my handsome cousin and his girlfriend! Hiya, Bellonah! You lookey very pretty! Do you like my dress?" She stood up from where she was seated, showing off the tacky leopard-print dress that fit snugly around her waist and hips. "I got it at the secondhand!" Minnie added with a giggle.

Amaryllis kept her hand on Memphis’ arm as he escorted Minnie to her seat first. She always found the woman a little odd but she knew that she meant well so she didn’t judge her for it. She smiled up at Memphis, being unable to not be a little envious of Alayna in that moment even as she was just as happy for the young woman. ”Alayna is a very lucky girl. I’m sure she is going to love everything.” she said a little wistfully.

"Just have a moment to yourself outside, Tol," he whispered quietly to him, turning his head so no one could see. "I can get everyone to their seats."

He wasn't entirely sure what was wrong, perhaps just a sudden hit of emotion mixed with nerves, but Ptolemy seemed to appreciate both of them saying something.

He was smiling weakly at both of them.

"Thank you. Yes - just a few minutes. That's all..."

With both Hector and Carina being supportive of him, he was sure they could handle everything for a little while. Stepping outside and saying he had left something outside to everyone else, he walked around the back of the marquee for some time to reflect by himself.

Carina looked at hector, "I have to get back to Alayna. I'm sure he won't be long. But try and keep an eye on him." She smiled and made her way back to the main house and to the bridesmaids room, "Oh atti. Can you be a dear and go help Burke seat the guests? Tolly is taking a moment. He got emotional." She said, trying to cover for him, even a tiny bit.

Thius simply grimaced at Minnie and softly responded, "That dress suits you well, Minnie." Minnie was probably the only one who could get away with some of the more eccentric clothing out there, particularly the extremely ugly ones.

Then he turned back to Bellona and gleamed at her widely, as he gently led her over to take their seats. As Thius sat down, he noticed that, as usual, the chair was too narrow for him. Sigh. At least they had been reupholstered... "I'm looking forward to the dances later, I think that'll be quite enjoyable."

Especially now that they're at a gathering where he can officially debut Bellona as his girlfriend.

Astrid offered a polite smile to both Hector and Ptolemy as they greeted her almost in unison. She enjoyed them both, maybe Hector had been a bit cold since his attention had strayed elsewhere but she didn’t hold it against him. It wasn’t like they had been courting or anything of the like. They had merely been enjoying each other’s company for a while and Astrid thought of him only fondly. Or at least she did now that her disappointment in not being pursued at all was laid to rest. She was about to say something when she noticed Ptolemy was looking very pale. She didn’t know how to comfort him but it seemed Hector and Carina were quick to jump in. She frowned a bit as she looked to Hector as Carina and Ptolemy both made their exits. What now?

"Good luck, Alayna," he sniffed, holding her for a moment. "I'll be there. I love you - you will do magnificently - you look beautiful - I'm really, really proud of you."

Giving her one last kiss on the cheek, he nodded to Carina and knew it was time for him to leave without her saying anything.

Passing his Mother and Draco on the way down, he nodded to them before arriving back into the marquee. Seeing that Astrid was still stood there, and looking slightly lost, he touched her arm kindly. "Astrid. You can go back up to the dressing room, now. It won't be long." Smiling at her, he nodded at Hector.

Between the two of them, they could get everything prepared.

Nodding to Atticus, he took to the stage where the band was playing and they slowly faded out their last song.

"Sonorus," he chanted, directing his wand to his face. Suddenly his voice was amplified to fill the entire marquee and gardens: "If I could have your attention please, Ladies and Gentleman? It won't be long now until our bride will arrive, so I invite you all now to take your seats and await for the next round of music. At the sound of this music, if you could please rise for her entrance. We won't keep you waiting much longer, and thank you all for your patience."

That should do the trick.

"Quietus."

He looked at Atticus, who was going by the guests and making sure they understood where they should be. Pleased of this, Hector moved to the front beside the Ministry representive who would conduct the ceremony and glanced about for his fellow groomsmen.

"Amaryllis..."

While they had been speaking with Minnie and catching up, he wanted to kiss her. Now that she had sat down and was just being her lovely, sweet self; he couldn't resist it. Memphis moved over, and kissed her lips very gently. His palm moved over the back of her hand as he smiled, about to open his mouth when Hector's voice rang out amongst the crowd.

"That's my cue," he said gently, brushing his thumb along the side of her hand. "I will see you soon, my darling."

Standing up, he gave her one last smile of longing, before heading to the front himself.

Mrs Rowle, shortly followed by her youngest son Parzival, clacked up the side of the seating towards the front. Daphne was at the other side of her, and they both took a seat on the front row together. Ptolemy's Father, Bart, greeted his wide with a kiss on her cheek. She touched it up lightly with pressed powder afterwards when she was sure no one was looking.

Louis found his seat nearby Comarth, who he smiled at. The same sentiment wasn't returned, but it hadn't bothered him in the slighest. This was a stunning view he had of the front: he was sure he would be able to see Alayna and Ptolemy very well from here.

Jeneva was seated with her family who were desperately trying to get the elven wine stain out of her dress before the ceremony commenced.

Matilda was poking through a gap at the back of Selwyn's seat and giggling at him writhing.

His Mum told him off again.

"Your hair really is soft, Selwyn! What's your secret, dragon man?" Medea asked, giggling.

She and Mats were up to whatever trouble they could get into from their seats! "I wonder what Alayna's honeymoon lingerie looks like... I bet they're really sexy!"

Alayna stood still as the girls fluttered about her one last time, making sure everything was absolutely perfect. She stared at the crystal sitting on the table and picked it up, sending a quicquick text with the address and the words 'For atticus' to James Potters number. She then set the crystal down and shook out her thoughts as she saw her mother and uncle Draco enter. She smiled at Draco and hugged him, "Thank you for doing this."

James had just returned home from giving Alcathous over to Evelyn as it was her turn to have the sprog for a few days. He just enjoyed being able to use fatherhood as an excuse to get out of things he desired to avoid. So, he was extremely dumbfounded when he received a message from Alayna with the address to where the wedding was held. Didn't she disapprove of them being together? So why was he receiving an invitation at the very last second?

On the other hand, he did want to get a slice or two or three of the cake Atticus prepared for the wedding. So, he found a decent-enough suit somewhere in his room and used the address given to apparate to the manor. Nobody was outside, so it seemed like everyone was inside. Right, he knew what to do at a wedding. James entered the marquee and immediately felt intimidated by all of the high society pureblood people around and ...Louis? What was Lou Lou doing here?

"It's my pleasure, Alayna. You look beautiful."

Kissing her cheek as his niece embraced him, he was caught up in a lot of festering emotion as well. It was the first wedding of their family without Astoria. It made him think of his own children getting married and their Mother being there in spirit, and it had choked him slightly. Needless to say, he didn't show his emotions quite like Daphne or Atticus did.

"I think we should head downstairs now. Everyone should be seated. Are you ready?" he asked, holding his arm for her to take.
