- Asriel has never met his mother, her family, or even if any of them are alive. His father doesn't talk about her at all with the exception being that she left when Asriel was a baby and she too could do magic. With so little to go on, Asriel can be a bit sensitive about this subject even if he tries not to let it bother him. He does believe that she had something to do with why they up and left Japan for England.
- He's never attended a regular grade school being home schooled (if you could call it that) by his father who didn't trust anyone to watch him and didn't believe in how children were taught. Asriel's father thought that he would be able to better educate his son outside of a 'restrictive' environment.
- Friendly, overly curious, love animals. His favorite class is Care of Magical Creatures. It doesn't matter what kind of animal it is. He is the type to try and befriend it, and in the case of spiders and insects that end up where they shouldn't, he'll try and 'set them free' without killing them.
