sweet uncertainty (macmillan, open)

First topic message reminder :

Indigo grimaced when he entered the Three Broomsticks with his brother. There were lots of students; too many students, and the first thing he had to do was perform a cleaning charm ('Tergeo') on the seats before he slid into a booth. That would take care of all the grease and repel dirt. People were clumsy and sloppy with their food and it ended up getting everywhere.

He looked at his brother, and took up the menu.

"Do they do any salads here?" He asked impatiently, frowning at the menu.

"So she is ambitious then?" By the way he said it, he seemed to greatly approve.

"As I said before I don't think you will ever know for certain unless you reveal your own feelings. However, that comes with a great risk of spoiling your friendship."

Their food arrived. Indigo regarded the rather small size of it, and looked annoyed.

'I guess I need to find the courage to be upfront about it..."

That was hard for him. There was a reason why Cairo was in Gryffindor and he wasn't.

He raised an eyebrow at Indigo's annoyance as he began happily picking away at his fish and chips. "What were you expecting from a side salad?"

Indigo never revealed his feelings for his crush, because he knew he was straight. So there was a very simple solution there.

He frowned, and looked at his brother's meal. It looked pretty good, actually. "Can I have one of your chips?"

Macmillan nodded. "See, brother, if you want a good portion of salad, you could've just gone to Tree Huggers. At least this gives good protein."

"Thanks."

He didn't want to admit he was wrong, but he took a chip. Then a few more after that.

"What's Tree Huggers?" He asked, not familiar with it.

"Sounds absolutely awful."

He helped himself to more chips.

"What does this girl want to do for a career then, that she's so dead-set on?"

Indigo swallowed, and frowned slightly.

"Oh no. This doesn't happen to be your particular sport of interest, does it?"

No wonder. He got the idea from a girl he liked. That explained a lot.

Macmillan bit his lip.

"Um, possibly."

Indigo sighed loudly, and started spearing through his salad with his fork.

"Typical."

"Do you have to be disgusting?"

He wrinkled his nose, and felt a little embarrassed about the direction of the conversation.

"You just keep digging yourself these deeper holes, Hyacinth. Just because your crush is doing something, it doesn't mean you doing it will suddenly make her like you more..." That went without saying didn't it? He sighed again, and rolled his eyes very obviously.

"News flash, I'm not surfing to impress somebody. I surf because I want to!"

What. A. Prick.

He held up his hands in mock defence.

"News flash... where do you get these things from?" He muttered.

Macmillan rolled his eyes.

"I could ask the same about you and your charms."
