First Annual Music Night ((Open to ALL))

This was it. This was really happening. His first year as a professor, he managed to orchestrate an entire student function with the help of Camille and the encouragement of Skylar. Skylar was the awesomest dudette he'd ever met, and he didn't know if he could've pulled this off without her.

There was extraordinary feedback to his crystal messages surrounding the night although many of them ended up being last minute; that kind of response was heartening and hype generating. If this went well enough, it could easily become an annual event! That'd be epic! Professor Reed Jackson making waves at the bottom of the professor totem pole. Hell yeah!

The gym was done up to have a makeshift stage with the audience being rows of chairs and the bleachers. Reed could tell that his superiors were doing their best to ensure that the investment into the gym wasn't a complete waste as it seemed like they were hosting nearly everything in it as of late.

Reed dressed himself like a beatnik critic by wearing a black jumper, black slacks, and a pair of sunglasses. He had to look cool. Stepping up to the stage, he tapped the microphone. "Test. 1. 2. 3. Test."

Satisfied, he nodded and waved at everyone in the gymnasium nervously. Time to be the great speech maker or whatever.

"Um, hey, dudes, dudettes, and everyone else! If you don't already know me, I'm Professor Reed Jackson, and I teach the music classes." Chuckling, he scratched his neck. "Welcome to our first ever music night at Hogwarts! Many of your friends, enemies, schoolmates, yeah, have all come up with songs specifically to entertain you TONIGHT. Before we get to them, I wanna thank a few people first. Thanks to Cam- Professor Voclain for letting us have this sort of function and being involved all the way to make sure it happens.” He motioned to the glitter glue craft decorations of musical notes and instruments on the walls. "Thanks to everyone that's come out tonight whether you're just performing or watching. Coming here instead of staying in your dorm automatically makes you AWESOME! Stay being awesome! And last but not least, Healer Ashton, as this would not be happening if it wasn't for her…"

He tried to find her in the audience.

"Without further ado, we have a garage rock band that formed for this event known as the Batty Bloodhounds. LET'S ROCK!"

What the fuck? Nobody gave time for his song to breathe and settle before other students got on stage? Urgh. James made his way back to Lien and gently grabbed his hands stroking them with his palms. Merlin, he always looked so sharp. Kissing him languidly, James was relieved that they no longer had to be shackled to the gymnasium. What to do next?! His eyes twinkled as he smiled at him. "C'mon, let's get out of here!"

Lien had enough appreciation for music to realise James's lyrics meant something, but he doubted someone like Albus would get that message. He didn't seem like a musical person at all. In fact, why was Albus even here? Was it to deliberately take a poke at James in front of everyone else?

While James was performing, Lien's eyes travelled over to the boy. They narrowed on him. He could feel inside he was seething, thinking of cursing all his teeth out of his mouth...

Then, suddenly, James reappeared again. Lien looked at him, kissed him, and smiled broadly.

"Yeah. Let's." Taking his hand and grinning, he walked out of the gym with James, telling him in detail how good his song was, and asking him to relay the lyrics more to him again. He wanted James to feel proud about what he'd accomplished.

Haven was very impressed by the musical numbers that had been performed so far. Mackenzie's voice was beautiful and Rossi had some real emotion behind her. But James absolutely blew her away. She had no idea he had a voice like that. And the song had so much emotion behind it, it made her tear up a bit. But now it was her turn. She got onto the syage and cleared her throat before stepping up to the microphone, "What's up Hogwarts? I'm Haven Munroe, some of you may know me. This is a new song I wrote about being on tour and being away from my family. And about just remembering the important things in life." 

He was absolutely glowing the moment they exited the gym hearing Lien's praises and questions. Merlin, Lien was so good to him. Why didn't he realize there was a mutual interest earlier? Who knows what they could've gotten up to by now! He desired to wrap himself all over his boyfriend now that there wasn't as many faces to watch.

Smirking, he licked his lips and asked, "Wanna sneak out to Hogsmeade and have us a lil date?"

Who was going to stop them?

He could faintly hear the current performance as they moved further away from the gym.

The whole reason Lakelyn had attended this event was so that she could see her big sister perform. With her being on tour and everything, Lakelyn often had to miss her shows but she always watched her perform whenever she could. So, even though she was still not her same outgoing self, she wouldn’t miss this for the world! She watched everyone perform and was a little surprised at how good everyone was. Then came her sister’s performance and she teared up a little bit at hearing the words to the song she sang. She had never known how lonely her sister had been. Though, she still cheered with everyone else when the song was over and went to find her sister as soon as she left the stage. Finding her, she flung her arms around her in a tight hug. ”You were amazing!” she told her.

Following Haven's performance, a duo got up on stage hoping nobody would realize that they didn't actually write their song. There was nothing against covers from what they knew. It perfectly encompassed their feelings about what has happened at Hogwarts since the start of term.

Jocelyn was nervous to be performing by herself. She was used to performing with Ethan, but he was doing a song with Gabby Riddle. She had picked a bit of a risque song and was regretting her choice a bit. She walked onto the stage after the band finished their cover and waited for the music to start. Once it did, her body sort of flowed on it own and she was performing like it was second nature. 

Even though a few more songs have been performed since Alayna got on stage, Lazar was still annoyed that his glasses weren't cleaning just right. At least Mackenna wasn't taunting him!

Armed with her camera, Aquila had been taking various snapshots through the night. Gabby and Carina were still slated to perform, and she was so excited to watch them! She was going to take as many photos as she can of their sets!

Carina felt like she was going to throw up. She had had a plan for tonight but she was having second thoughts. Did she really want to take Alayna? She was her best friend. But she had also been a bit of a tyrant lately. She needed be knocked off the pedestal. And as her best friend, she had to protect her. Even from herself. 

She looked out in the crowd and saw Alayna and felt a pang of guilt stab into her chest. When Jocelyn left the stage it was like her feet were frozen to the floor. She stared at the microphone on the stage and knew she had to walk. She took a deep breath and walked out on the stage. 

"Hey everyone. You all know me, I'm Carina malfoy. This song is dedjcated to my best friend Alayna. You all know Alayna. Well, I've known Alayna a long time. I know what a kind and good person she is. Or can be. But she hasn't been lately. And I think we can all agree that there need to be some changes here at Hogwarts. So alayna, this one is for you." 

Marilyn was absolutely stunned by Carina's song. How loyal of a best friend was she to go against Alayna like that?

From the crowd, she roared, "You're just jealous that she's with Ptolemy!"

When Carina got off the stage and heard Marilyns out burst she cocked her head to the side. She made her way to the blonde and smirked, "I'm not jealous of Alayna. Im tired of Alayna. I'm tired of Alayna always crying and whining and pouting about everything that doesn't go her way. I'm tired of her having some hold on this school where we all bow at her feet. She's not royalty and she doesnt rule us. Now if you have something to say, you can say it to my face. And I dont wanna hear shit from you about jealousy when you contemplate revenge tactics on Finnigan cuz she's dating your precious wadeykinz."

"You're being an awful friend to her, bitch!"

Ironic as Marilyn didn't have many friends herself; she's too oblivious to realize her friendship with Alayna's out of convenience. She crossed her arms as Carina approached her. What a snake! Her eyebrows furrowed upon the mention of pyro slut. Ugh! "Leave Wade out of this! It's not my fault that you can't have Perdita for yourself!"

"And it's not siobhans fault that Wade chose her. Get over yourself. And wake up. You do realize Alayna doesn't actually care about you right? You're a pawn to her. We all are." She said shaking her head, "And I dont care about Perdita. That was a stupid thing for me to get involved in. I've moved on."

Noticing a growing quarrel, Reed put himself between the two girls.

"Chillax, dudettes! If you're going to fight, do it through song, okay?!"

He looked back and forth between them. "Guess you already did," he said to Carina chuckling. "Ball's in your court, other blonde!"

Reed readjusted his jumper; the gymnasium got a lot warmer than he had anticipated for his beatnik look.

Carina smirked at her, "You heard him balls in your court." She then rolled her eyes and went to stand with Mackenzie and Pandora. She was excited for Pandora's set. She had heard her practicing a few times and knew she had a great voice.
