Time away (Open)

Lily was definitely stressed out from the whole drama of school. Someone had already been attacked by an unforgivable curse and another student had been arrested for casting the curse. She still couldnt believe that her older brother had been there, she had no idea why he had been, but he had. She opened her potions book and began to study as she could use all the help she could get in potions. it wasnt her best subject. She soon grew bored and closed the book trying to decide what to study next. It was between Defense against the dark arts and transfiguration.

"You know that's hard for me! I'm impulsive... I will say that I'll try not to as I'd rather not end up breaking a promise." James couldn't help but to be honest about that. He didn't want to hurt his sister over some decision he made.

"Just come to me before you do something. And Ill tell you if its stupid or not." She said laughing a bit. She really did want him to be careful, but she knew he was prone to make implusive decisions, much like herself

James gave a small smile hearing Lily laugh. "I'll try to make an effort to, sis," he responded. He hoped he'd actually be able to follow through on that, but it was hard to tell knowing him.

Lily smiled and began gathering her school books "It is almsot curfew. Will you walk me to the common room?" She asked looking over at him. She liked spending time with him, she didnt get to do that as much as of late

"Of course, sis," James answered giving a smile as he marked his place in the book. It had been a while since he spent any real time with his sister, and he wasn't going to throw it away.

She smiled and wlked out of the library. She looked over at him "So what do you plan to do for mom and dad for christmas?" She asked "Im planning to get mum a day at the spa with Aunt Mione and Im getting dad a new wand holster."

Hearing Lily's question, James thought for a bit. "I honestly haven't really had time to get them anything. I hope last minute gift cards would do," he replied.

Lily laughed and shook her head "We can go to Diagon Alley tomorrow and find something great. Ok?" She said throwing her arm around her big brother as best as she could considering he was a foot taller than her. "Im sure mum and dad are gonna be happy to have us all home. Even you, Jamesy."

"Sounds good to me," he replied with a shrug. "Who knows, maybe a gift card will allow dad to get off my back for a day or two. That'd be nice." James honestly didn't feel like dealing with his dad much, but there really wasn't anything he could do about it over break. "Mum probably will. Dad probably won't as he's already quite pissed at me."

"Well Im gonna be happy youre there. Maybe you can keep dad off my back." SHe said biting her lower lip "I kind of did something and I didnt think of how mum and dad would react." She was nervous to even tell her brother, but it would come up eventually, especially in the summer time

James looked over at Lily after hearing her reply. "Sis, what did you do?" he questioned. Why would they need to get off of her back anyway other than being the golden child now? "And you tell me to try to think things through before acting on impulses... Granted, my impulses are usually stuff like 'Let's see what happens if I ask this person that I don't know out.' Well, until I met Azazel anyway..."

Lily sighed and lifted her shirt to show her stomach and a little sparkle on her navel. She had gotten her belly button pierced. "One of the older girls did it." SHe said lowering her shirt again "I know I know. Im only 13 and I shouldnt be piercing or tattooing anything. I just thought it looked pretty."

His eyes widened seeing his sister's belly button piercing. That was unexpected. if it was a lobe piercing, he would've found Lily's comments to be quite an overreaction. Knowing how some people in the school were, he was actually quite relieving that she didn't get a pierced in a place that'd be just too risky for their parents to find out. "Out of all things I'm concerned about, let's just say, I, um, hope that it was done somewhere sterile. I also hope that you know how to clean it..."

"Yeah it was. The girls gave me some saline solution to clean it with. And we used a sterilizing spell on the needle." She said taking a deep breath "How mad do you think mum will be when she finds out?"

"What kind of sterilizing spell? You can't really reuse needles as that's rather unsanitary," James replied unsure of what to make of this situation. "I'll just put this on the forefront: you'd still be the golden child with the belly button piercing."

"It was a new needle James. We just made sure it was extra clean. I dont know what spell." She said before sighing "I dont wanna be the golden child." She said rubbing her fore arm "I dont want that much pressure on me."

He raised an eyebrow trying to figure out what to think of Lily's problem about being the golden child. "Seeing the threshold I've pushed since Al's practically everything, you have a long way to go before doing that," James said patting his sister on the back.

She groaned and kept walking up the stairs. Why were there so many damn staircases in this place "I will never undrstand these staircases or why they have to move." She said gripping to the railing as the case moved to connect them to the next floor "It makes no sense to me other than to be an impending death trap."

"The founders were probably on medieval drugs while this school was being constructed. Why else would a talking hat determine our house?" James asked. "Granted, with enough persuasion, you can sway its choice. I know from experience. I know dad did."

She laughed and nodded "Probably so." She said as she listened to her brother speak "I like being in Gryffindor. I wish I was in Slytherin with you and Albus. But I like my house. i like my friends." She said smiling

James shrugged. "Does the house we're in really matter though? We're all, unless you somehow become immortal, going to die at some point. That's likely just me being a nihilist, but it's a serious question."
