a friend in need, a friend indeed (emery)

Usually when he was back at Hogwarts over the summer and wasn't spending any time in his Dad's garden anymore, Jerome donned his spectacles as they were far more comfortable for him. However, this year, he was still wearing his contact lenses. During the summer, some of his friends had given him compliments about it. Before that, he hadn't many friends to speak of. He should value their opinion, shouldn't he? Particularly as he hadn't thought of his appearance much before now.

Sitting in the common room and cosied up beside the fire, Jerome was busy comprising a list of names he thought would become members of the club he was intending to form. Glancing up for a moment to ponder, he caught sight of Emerald Cartwright crossing the room.

"Hello, Emerald," he said, when she was closer to him, "How is everything going?"
