The Aftermath (Open)

Raine had decided to go to the first ever wizarding cinema and the movie wasn't all that bad, but when the rows began to clear out she stayed behind. Since it was the last movie of the day she honestly wasn't caring about leaving right at that moment. Raine sat back in her seat, eating her licorice as she just sat there in silence. Her head back against the chair as she looked up to the ceiling. Her life wasn't horrible, she loved her family but it had been hard after her dear sister had went missing, not knowing where she was or if she was even alive broke her a little. Sighing as she continued to eat her delicious treat in silence.

Miriam had been in the bathroom dealing with an emergency; being a woman was fun. Of course, it was her luck that the movie had ended when she had returned. She just missed the resolution. It was also the last showing of the night as well, so she couldn't just stick around for the next showing as if she didn't just watch almost the entirety of the film.

To her surprise, there was a woman left behind. She approached her and gently tapped her shoulder. "Hello."

Raine had not noticed or taken a notice that there was someone else still in here with her until she jumped when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She was kind of stunned but she recovered pretty quickly. "Hello" Raine greeted back.

"Did you see the ending of the movie? I believe it was called The Best Years of Our Lives?" she asked the woman with a smile. "I had an emergency and I missed it..."

When it came to the movie ending and how she missed it due to being in the restroom, she understood those issues having to go to the bathroom during a movie. "Yes, Homer and Willa get married and Fred and Peggy kiss basically insinuating they will get together, it ended like that" Raine explained.

What a happy ending! Too bad she had missed it.

"I'm surprised you haven't left the building like everyone else yet."

Miriam didn't know her reasons, obviously, but it just surprised her. "I hadn't expected to see someone in here otherwise I would've asked someone in the lobby."

Raine knew that not leaving was kind of stupid but she really didn't mind or care when it came to staying here. "Honestly I didn't feel like it, this is my first time being here in a year since I've been busy with work. Guess I am just trying to savor it" Raine shrugged.

"Don't worry about it, I am just weird I guess" Raine laughed a little.

"I see! I guess with how new this is to us, we're using film reels due to the technology..."

Most of wizarding Britain hadn't figured out whatever digital media was. That seemed to be the forte of the younger muggleborns that roamed around.

"Well, I'd hate for you to end up being kicked out as the cinema is about to close. How about we walk out together? The temperature isn't too bad for a January night..."

Raine had been stunned when the wizarding world had done something so... Mundane but there was nothing bad about it, it was odd but it was pretty neat for sure. "Well I think everything is a lot newer then we believed, still stunned we got a cinema like place" Raine didn't mind though, it was kind of nice.

Raine heard the suggestion and she nodded her head as she stood up to make her way out of the cinema. Honestly whether it was cold or not she knew she needed to leave eventually before she got locked in here. "I'm Raine" she mentioned her name.

She nodded. "I never would've expected it, especially with how stubborn the older generations are." A smile grew on Miriam's face. "Imagine how wonderful it'd be to have our own magical versions of Muggle tech! We could be even more self-sufficient!"

"I'm Miriam. It's nice to meet you!"

It would be a lot easier if she had the device called a cell phone? Was it called? Who knows, but she hated using her owl, she felt bad when he had to go on long journeys just to deliver her mail. "It would be heaven if they could upgrade us a little bit" Raine responded.

"Likewise. So what brought you here today?" she asked.

"Maybe that'll happen once our generations get more power. A lot of those in power have been around for the Second Wizarding War."

Luckily for Miriam, she was a child when it occurred, so she didn't have many memories about it.

"I had some free time from work since I tend to do long hours at the Ministry. I've been wanting to check out this place for a while! What about you?"

Power? That was one thing Raine didn't care about, it was power. For all she knew power was the cause of a lot of pain and she didn't quite like the pain behind it all. It broke her heart. "Yeah, I wouldn't have remembered that war once at all" she responded.

Oh she worked for the Ministry? "What job do you do there?" She asked curiously. "As for me, I had the day off of work, so that meant that I came here to get the feel of everything and to explore new things" Raine responded, not at all ashamed.

"I was a toddler when the war was ongoing. I don't remember it myself." There was definitely a generational divide with that alone.

Miriam answered, "I'm an unspeakable. There isn't too much I can say about my job." Smiling at the other girl, she wrapped her scarf around their neck as the temperature dropped from going out of the building. "Hogsmeade has changed quite a bit since I attended Hogwarts."

Raine nodded. "Honestly I don't think I was even born or thought of yet, I came after the war but I heard bits and pieces" it didn't bother her, apparently she had lost her Aunt to that war.

An unspeakable wasn't bad. "What exactly does an unspeakable do? Or does the title basically state the obvious?" Raine asked stupidly.

"It's classified. I can't say a word about what I do."

The name seemed obvious enough. Very few people knew what went on in the Department of Mysteries.

And Raine understood that and nodded. "Well I get that, I understand and will not press on the issue" Raine responded.

Raine nodded. "Believe me I understand, I don't want something to happen because I became the curiosity cat, besides, a woman like you needs to show those men what woman can do" she responded, females were treated like they knew nothing when they knew a lot more then credit was given.

That was good, she liked when men and woman were treated equally because if not that would be completely sexist. "If I didn't love my job I would totally join the Ministry" Raine giggled.

"Where do you work?" Miriam wondered with a soft smile.

"Well I am in the process of working odd jobs so I can open up my own place. I have been working hard" Raine explained to Miriam. She was quite proud of herself.

She nodded. "I do hope that you aren't being terribly overworked. It is important to have days solely for yourself as well when possible."

Raine couldn't help but shrug a bit. "In my opinion it's worth it when it comes to being my own boss, I honestly am tired of working for the men. A woman needs to be in charge every now and then" Raine responded.
