Indigo had told his brother to meet him 'at his favourite place in Hogsmeade' this weekend, which was the seventh of November. Two days after Indy had turned twenty. It may have seemed like an presumptuous summon, but Indigo believed Hyacinth would make time for his own brother, no matter what their differences. Plus there was always the possibility of getting a birthday present from him. That is, if he remembered.

He liked this hairdressing salon, despite the clients being mainly female. They had always cut his hair well. As the hairdresser's scissors snipped away, Indy wondered whether Hyacinth would bother to show up after all.

Macmillan furrowed his eyebrows. Why did nobody in his family ever actually give his interests much of a chance? The one fucking time he actually figured out what he was going to do with his life, and his brother had to shit on his parade.

"I am using it for my career by doing what I want."

"Haaaah." He sighed. LOUDLY.

Clearly he wasn't going to win this. "You have always done what you wanted to do," He muttered venomously, and the hairdresser put the finishing touches onto his style. He wondered how many conversations between relatives this hair stylist had heard, and whether they use what they've heard as a topic of conversation to customers.

It was likely...

"Maybe Father will kick some sense into you, when I tell him about this." What? Did he think he'd keep quiet about it? Naive.

"No..." He began, annoyed that this was perfectly true. His youngest brother had stepped into adulthood as well. Where had the time gone? Anyway...

"But maybe he'll be able to knock some sense into you. I don't understand why you're so desperate to be the black sheep of this family. I really don't. Is there something your sour about? Are you still angry about that time we left you during 'hide and seek' to eat candy apples in the kitchen?"

What kind of person did Indy think he was?

"You think I want to be a black sheep? I was one since my hair grew dark!"

@Indigo Macmillan

"And yet blonde is the recessive gene," He said dismissively, "Technically, we all should have had dark hair. Now are you getting it cut, or aren't you? I'll actually pay for it, you know."

He stood up after the stylist was finished, and was scrutinising their work in the mirror. It was pretty good - better than last time. He'd probably ask for all the potions she used to make his hair shine the way it was.

"Go on. You have a good bone structure. It would look better on you to have a shorter cut than the mangy thing you have going on there..."

Macmillan shook his head. "Still can't believe you made me meet up with you here of all places..."

He tucked a strand of hair behind his ear.

"You're just jealous you can't even grow out your hair."

Indigo rolled his eyes. Honestly - this kid.

"Fine." He said defiantly. "I suppose I'll let you go now, then. But expect some letters from me in the near future. I'm going to send you a couple dozen pieces of literature on university courses, and we shall see if you change your mind. It's not all straight academia, you know. There are some more... vocational courses..."

But he seemed very disapproving of the latter.

"Unless you want to buy me lunch."

He raised an eyebrow. "Not everyone needs to go to university you pompous dick."

"Where for lunch are we speaking?"

"You may change your mind when you read the literature." He said in a very 'final' sort of way, now paying the stylist.

"The elixir café will do," He said drearily, sounding as though he didn't have much choice. He didn't like the three broomsticks. The seats were sticky, and it was crammed and noisy. He couldn't hear himself bloody think. "Well this is a nice surprise."

Was his brother on drugs?

"Gillywater and maybe a couple pastries are hardly filling for a lunch."

He really didn't. But that wasn't the point. "Well, where do you suggest then?" He asked pretentiously.

He crossed his arms. "Hog's Head as for one, I'm not going through Diagon on Hogsmeade weekend. And two, I know you'd kill me if I said Three Broomsticks."

"The Hog's Head?"

He'd never actually been there, but had heard a few rumours about it during his time at school. Those rumours were enough to curl his nose up in disgust: "Isn't that that pub where hags generally congregate? And the dead fly in the ice cube isn't a foolish prank, it's because a fly actually drowned in the water and got frozen?"

By which he added: "Are you insane?"

"Fine. Let's go to the Three Broomsticks, then..." He sighed, annoyed.

"That's what I thought."

Damn did that superficial boil get on his nerves.
