the firebolt elite (open)

Here it was, in all its glory: the Firebolt E-15. Newly released just the day before and arriving at his doorstep after a year-long pre-order guarantee, this latest addition to the Firebolt Elite series had been endorsed by current and retired Quidditch players alike. It even had the Potters' seal of approval, both Harry and Ginny, and now that Tiernan was looking at it hovering waist height in mid-air under the baking sun, he almost didn't want to touch it.

The E in E-15 may have stood for Elite, but Tiernan had crowned it Excalibur after King Arthur's legendary sword. Clearly he didn't realise how pretentious that sounded, despite that American girl already telling him so.

He just looked at it from all angles, circling it like a lion to its prey, feeling his heart hammering in anticipation.

Mackenzie was supposed to be meeting Carina for a beach day, but she got busy so it turned into a solo outing. She was lying on her towel in a simple black bikini, working on a tan when she heard movement near by. She lowered her sunglasses and looked over to see... Tiernan? She sat up a bit more before smirking. Excellent. She got to her feet and walked over to where he was before her eyes widened at what he had, "Is that an E-15?"

"Don't touch it!" he gasped, merely registering that someone had walked over and was now examining is beloved broom.

It was a gut reaction.

When he actually paid attention to her though, seeing it was the snake keeper herself clad in a very small bikini, his mind whirred back and forth over animal instinct and reason. He shouldn't be thinking about what she looked like, because she was catty and nasty. He looked away again, but part of the instinct had remained: he was clearly flexing underneath his t-shirt.

"It's not an E-15. It's Excalibur," he reminded her, as though his E-15 was any different from the thousands that had sold across the world yesterday. "And with this, the cup is mi-- is ours. The cup is ours..."

"Yeah, you keep saying that, but it says a lot that I didn't even know you were on the team," he snorted, only slightly distracted by her toying with her strap. Why couldn't she be like some of those other girls and just simper and fawn over him for existing?

Maybe if he took off his shirt and ran a few laps with E-15 - er - Excalibur - then there'd be some other babes on the beach to do just that.

He had to touch it sooner or later. Just looking at it wasn't enough.

"Course I can. I didn't bring it all the way here just to look at it." (He literally had just been doing that for the past fifteen minutes).

"Not my problem," he said matter-of-factly, "There's no way I'm getting that over my hands then touching my brand new broom."

Obviously.

And also, he didn't want girls thinking he had a girlfriend. They paid less attention then.

Removing his t-shirt, he slung it on top of his towel on the beach and - at last - touched the side of Excalibur. Grinning, he swung his leg over and kicked off from the ground, flashing a cocksure grin at Mackenzie from over his shoulder. "Try not to get too overdone." Then he bolted fast into the clouds, the velocity shredding up the sand in his wake.

Tiernan was clearly showing off to every visitor at Blackrock that afternoon. He wanted their eyes up at the skies instead of the seas, so he performed a string of loop-the-loops and tumbles close and high above the sands. At one point he gripped his broom and swung off, reared around a sharp corner, and vaulted back on again at lightning speed. The broomstick was making very light work of these manoeuvres: his old broom may have struggled with some of the turnings, but Excalibur was playing right to his will.

He skirted over a group of girls in bikinis sunbathing, wanting them to feel the breeze and look up at him admiringly...

Honestly, there were no limits to what his ego could take. If anything, once he'd got a taste, he only wanted more and more.

Finally when he got back to his original spot, he purposefully drew to a very sudden stop right where Riddle was standing. He grinned smugly at her.

Like any other day, Macmillan was on the beach getting ready to catch some waves. The sun beat down on his oily, sunscreened body as he worked on waxing his board before heading toward to the ocean. As he was ready to apply another layer of wax, Macmillan found his board suddenly covered in sand. Unamused, he found the source to be McLaggen and his latest broom. Macmillan three his middle finger up at him; part of the reason he came to Blackrock was to escape quidditch now that he has no reason to root for Ravenclaw's team.

Mackenzie watched as he showed off and laughed a bit stat his stunts. When he landed and grinned at her she scoffed, "Look at you. Quite a show. And it seems you've got some fans." She said with a sharp glare at the group of giggling girls who quickly looked away when met with her gaze. She then looked back at him, "Maybe this year will be some fun. As long as you fly like that."
