Sit if you must (open)

Vanessa managed to find an empty compartment and sat down. She pulled a book out of her bag and opened it to the page she last left off. As her eyes scanned the page she heard the compartment door open. She looked up and rolled her eyes as she saw someone there "can I help you?"

They had agreed that she wouldn't sit with her on the train, but taking a long look around the compartments and carriages she had summarised that no where would be adequate for her. It was either with her sister, or spending the journey sat alone. She was far too nervous to be sitting alone.

"Sorry Nessa..." She said quietly, sliding the door closed. "I can't find any compartments where I want to sit. There's a lot of horrid people on this train. They're all buzzing about like flies, I can't stand it." She took a seat opposite her. "What are you reading?" She asked conversationally, hoping Vanessa wouldn't be too mad...

"we discussed this saph." Vanessa said but when her sister said she couldn't find anywhere else she groaned and nodded "fine. But if you were anyone else I'd tell you to fuck off" when she asked what she was reading she held up the book "it's a new music book I found. I plan to try out for the music apprenticeship this year. But I haven't told Dad. I didn't want to get his hopes up if I didn't get it"
