Whenever Preston got back from school breaks, he was pretty miserable for at least the first week or so. Not only did he have to sacrifice all his no-maj electronics, including his PC gaming rig and VR headset, but he could only communicate with his girlfriend while in town, and even then it was only a few texts. He missed staying up until 5am doing raids with her on World of Warcraft, or falling asleep at his keyboard after talking with her all night long.

Feeling lovesick and irritated about losing his favourite entertainment, Preston felt like he could only stomach a bowl of jello at lunch. Even that he was pushing around inside the bowl, leaning on his palm until his mouth sagged sideways, feeling the lowest of lows. At least none of the jocks were around yet. Everyone was mostly ignoring him. He hoped Pirro would appear soon and make this a fraction more tolerable.

Grinning, he bent over to his side and went through his bag to pull out the expansion pack. Thank goodness for that bottomless bag spell he used a few years ago... A complication of it, however, was that it was very easy to get lost in it. He ended up pulling out some dice pouches and his pencil case before he reached the box.

"Here it is!"

He moved his plate aside and placed the expansion pack onto the table.

"Isn't it glorious, amigo?"

"You got that one?!"

Damn it. If only he hadn't spent all his money. No - it was for Maria. It was for his girlfriend. He had other priorities now...

"Don't you just love in when they're fresh? Kind of makes you sad just breaking that seal," he said, munching on his burger while looking at it, and making an absolute mess. "Be careful if you're opening it here, okay? Gentle... ketchup kept away..."

"Uh huh! The crown jewel of Christmas! Other than the roast pork."

Their Christmas celebrations were a strange mish-mash of Cuban and American traditions, so a good amount of the festivities occurred on the eve.

"Fresh card smell is my favorite! It's frustrating shuffling them with how long it takes for them to break in..."

How many times had he dealt with slippery cards? Placing the box onto his lap, he began using his nails to try and rip off the shrink wrap. "This plastic's difficult, amigo..."

"Teeth. Use your teeth!"

He was grinning, on the edge of his seat, wanting to see that fresh deck be flipped through already.

So maybe he was being a little impatient...

Out of the corner of his eye, a girl was crawling around pretending to be an animal of some kind. Or maybe she was just hexed.

His teeth! Ah! Since he had braces a few years back, a part of him was always afraid of possibly chipping a tooth due to using no-maj methods to fix his teeth.

Pirro didn't want to potentially leave a bite mark into the very mint, currently unopened box... It would bring down the value if he was forced to sell it down the line! Then he finally felt his nail poke through the wrap just right.

"I think I-"

A loud meow-howl suddenly came out of the girl who was crawling around the food hall; he couldn't help but cringe and pull a face at the sight of her.

That only made him quickly tear off the shrinkwrap before dumping the plastic into his bag; he can dispose of it later.

"I think I got it!"

Placing the box back on the table, he looked at Preston wondering who was going to commence the grand unboxing.
