the big distraction (carina)

Ptolemy had already been in the village since that morning. When it was time for a Hogsmeade visit, he always had breakfast there at the bistro: it was a lot better than going to the Great Hall, as they seemed to cater more to common tastes. He considered himself to have a more refined palette than the majority of his peers.

Now it was time to meet up with Carina. He had wanted to do this as a favour to Alayna, to keep Carina happy; but he had other, more selfish intentions. Carina would look very pretty on his arm. He just hoped that she wouldn't end up falling for him, despite suggesting that she might do. That would put him in an extremely sticky situation. Hopefully they could both just enjoy each other's company for the afternoon and part ways feeling glad that they'd been there.

He was dressed in the smart way that he always was, but nothing overly formal. His clothes skimmed his slender frame. Now it was just waiting for a girl, and more often than not they were late.

Carina had woken up later and then there was no hot water because Mackenzie used it all. And on top of that, she couldn't find the dress she wanted to wear. She finally decided on a new outfit and made her way to Hogsmeade. She took her time, as she didn't want to be sweaty and gross when she arrived, "Sorry I'm late." She said Kissing Ptolemy's cheek, "Mack used all the hot water again and I'm pretty sure Pandora stole my dress." She was wearing a baby pink crop top sweater and a pair black jeans with some high tip boots that reached just below her knee, "You look sharp as always."

"Well... look at you."

He said that, but he was looking her over and was scrutinising what she was wearing. Although she looked nice in it, he would have preferred a dress. Of course he would never admit to that: once he was on a date, he was, in his opinion, the perfect gentleman.

"You poor thing," he moped sympathetically, giving her a fake pout, "That must have been awful for you. Next time Mackenzie takes a shower, we can give her a little shock. How about that?"

A low, short laugh escaped him.

"I thought I would treat you first to some shopping," he said haughtily, sliding her arm through his so she was linked closely to him. "I wouldn't want you to waste the opportunity while you're here. Then I'll treat you to lunch. How does that sound?"

Carina frowned as he mocked her. She knew he was playing, but still she was upset. It had been her favorite dress. But he made her giggle when he mentioned giving Kenzie a little shock, "alright then." And then he mentioned shopping and her eyes lit up, "Shopping? That sounds great." She said, her smile getting brighter, "Where should we go first?"

"Let's go to Gladrags first. Going there filters out most of the common rabble, I suppose."

He turned towards the main street that the wizarding fashion shop was on, and set them off at a leisurely pace. The streets were full of students, mostly.

"Are you feeling better after what happened?" he asked her, "I've been worried about you, you know."

Carina loved Gladrags. That's where most of her galleons went. She walked along side him, noticing a few glances they received from fellow students. But she didn't pay it too much mind. "After what happened? You mean the party? I mean... Yeah. I guess so." She looked up at him and smiled, "You worry about me?"
