Ariana can be described as loyal and spunky unafraid to say what she thinks. However, one could say she mainly inhibits qualities typically found in Hufflepuffs. Ariana was born to Marcus and Adriana Faowind as the youngest child preceded by two older brothers and a sister. Even as a very young child, she had heard some of her older siblings and her parents talk about how great Hogwarts was to attend which put in a mindset that Hogwarts was the best school. She had believed that she was going to attend Hogwarts and maybe end up in Gryffindor like others in her family such as Lisa.

She began to question the hype surrounding Hogwarts when she was 6 as Jareth had declared that he was going to attend Durmstrang. That was a huge shock to her parents and the rest of her siblings who had all went to Hogwarts. Her parents were very hurt by his decision as it appeared that he didn't exactly share their values. Ariana didn't understand why they were so upset as either way he was getting some sort of education. Shouldn't that be enough for her parents to be happy? Of course, her parents had already enrolled her in Hogwarts, so she mainly ended up spending the rest of her years before school associating with other pureblood families that her parents knew and trying to find her place so she wouldn't be at the bottom of the totem pole once she started attending Hogwarts.

When she turned 11, she had gotten her Hogwarts letter which made her parents be filled with glee as it meant she wasn't deviating from the norm. It did disappoint them though when she ended up being sorted into Hufflepuff rather than Gryffindor or Slytherin like they had been hoping. That had made her be a bit of an outcast in the family but not to the extent of Jareth when it came to school topics. Ariana experimented in regards to her appearance hair wise while in Hogwarts deciding to take advantage of her metamorphmagus ability. After lots of various hair styles and colors, she felt an attachment to short bubblegum pink hair and opted to keep it. She felt quite bored with Hogwarts. Sure, it was like how her parents and her two eldest siblings described it, but she couldn't get the hype. Near the end of her third year, an upperclassman at Hogwarts decided to jinx her to where her memories involving her relatives aren't correct. After her third year, Ariana had decided to transfer to Durmstrang even if her parents were a bit saddened. If Jareth had went there, it couldn't have been that bad. Her parents then allowed her to transfer to Durmstrang although it was a hard choice for them to accept.


The Faowinds are a pureblood family that can be traced back to 1200 AD in Ireland and are believed to be distantly related to a few other pureblood families. They have various relatives throughout Europe with the main concentration being throughout Great Britain. Members of the family mainly attend Hogwarts with a few rare deviations from the norm such as Jareth attending Durmstrang. Males in the family tend to have golden eyes with a chance for females for inherit that trait. Common eye colors such as green and blue are the most common to appear.
