Why is Life Confusing (Darcy)

Al did not feel bad about ditching Mackenzie at the ball, he felt like he was suffocating in there. Making his way to the corn maze, he just smirked as part of him could not help but wish to run into Darcy, his best friend. The very thought of that name however brought shivers down his spine, he was with Mackenzie he could not let someone else distract him, yet Al wondered if he had asked his girlfriend out too soon, as he did not have these feelings with her.

Standing at the entrance of the maze waiting, to see if someone would join him or if he would be walking it alone. His thoughts racing between Mackenzie and Darcy, he had no idea why he could not help but think of just one.

Darcy was walking through Hogsmeade holding a candy apple in one hand and a bag of treats in the other; his spider was in his jacket pocket feasting away on some roasted grasshoppers.

Walking past the corn maze, he stopped and went back after spotting Al out of the corner of his eyes. "Hey!" he greeted with a smile before attempting to take a bite out of his candy apple.

"You look, um, well-dressed."

Albus undid his bowtie when Darcy mentioned about his outfit, "I um, just came from the ball with Mackenzie, but couldn't stand it any longer," he told his friend he really just wanted to have some fun.

"Want to go through together?" Al asked hoping inwardly that Darcy would say yes. The young Slytherin really had no idea how badly he wanted to be with the other, nor how strong his feelings were for Darcy.

"Oh, I see."

Deep down, this seemed like a win for him. Ha! Al liked him better than his own girlfriend.

That translated on his face as an awkward, somewhat confused smile.

"That'd be cool!"

Darcy handed the bag of treats over to Al. "I got candy quills, candy corn, chocolate frogs, and other sweets if you want any!"

Albus was excited, that his friend wanted to go in with him, his mind however was not thinking straight and kept telling him that he should just dump Mackenzie and go ask Darcy out. No it was just the alcohol talking and he was in love with her, however what he felt for Darcy was unmistakable, but he was with someone else and wanted to see how that went through besides he was not his brother and he could not like a boy.

Hearing the offer for candy, Al took a chocolate frog, and gave the other a smile. "Thanks," he said before looking at the start of the maze.

"Shall we?" He asked just wanting to get out of the open and into the depths of the maze, where he could go back to the teenage boy he was for a few moments before he had to face Mackenzie again.

Darcy nodded. "Yeah!"

"You know, I actually saw your brother and some other guy enter the maze earlier. I also heard about there being talking pumpkins and all sorts of strange stuff!"

There was a satisfaction within him about how Al ditched his own girlfriend for him. Clearly he was the better hang. One for Darcy zero for her!

Albus smiled as he led Darcy into the maze, he hoped that this would help relieve some stress, and so far it seemed to be as he did not have to think about his relationship, which he was starting to think that he jumped too quickly into. It didn't matter if that was the case he was with Mackenzie now and these feelings whatever they were for Darcy just had to stop.

"Shall we try going straight first?" He asked his friend trying to figure out which direction they should go.

Pulling his spider out of his jacket pocket, Darcy allowed his arachnid friend to move and perch onto his shoulder.

"Go left," he heard a voice say.

He looked around trying to figure out who it was. "Al, did you hear that voice telling us to go left or am I going crazy?"

"Go left."

It struck him when he realized the voice's source was directly on him.

"My spider just talked!"

Albus heard the voice, and was trying to figure out where it was coming from, when Darcy said that his spider talked it dawned on him, [/i]'what was the name of species of spiders that uncle Hagrid had?'[/i] He thought to himself trying to remember the name again.

"Where did you find him again?" He asked Darcy he just wanted to make sure that it could be one, 'Acromantula, a real acromatula could it really be one?' It seemed impossible, but it did make sense.

Honestly, Darcy had no idea the name of the species, but this definitely wasn't some house spider. "I-I thought it was a harmless cardinal spider... The ones you see in households..."

"A crook in the dungeon's walls. Why?"

"Hagrid the groundskeeper when my dad was at school had raised a baby Acromantula he found in that very spot, so it could be possible that your spider could also be one," Albus said as he looked at his friend. He could not believe that his friend all this time had and Acromantula, he thought that was just cool, this was a major turn of the night he had found out that maybe his feelings for the girl he thought he liked were not really there but he wanted to make it work as he owed it to her.

Darcy's eyes widened upon that revelation.

"What?!"

He was raising an acromantula?!

"I thought they liked eating flesh? My spider likes roasted grasshoppers..."

Albus thought of that for a few minutes, then it hit him maybe Darcy's spider just liked grasshoppers because that is what it only knew or because he was a baby still. It would make sense that it wouldn't know the taste of flesh yet.

"Maybe that is because he doesn't know any different?" He finally suggested, as he did not know what else to say or how else to explain it.

Darcy shrugged. "I don't know... Did Hagrid's acromantula eat flesh?"
