Late night run (Jace)

Dinah liked the night time, the stars twinkling above her head, the cool air blowing across her skin. She adored the sounds of the nighttime animals and enjoyed how peaceful it always was at this time of night. It was what some people called the witching hour currently. Dinah was sitting under a tree smirking as she liked being in areas most people didn't dare venture into. Most, but not all. One of those people that would venture into the forest that was for the most part forbidden was her friend and the only person who she would listen to, Jace. She was the only one he could ever relate too as a young girl and she grew up by his side. He made her feel stronger than just some omega. She liked being around him, even if he was a dick some days. She laughed at her own thoughts smiling up at the sky.

Another good thing about the night time is that she didn't have to deal with humans, they were asleep for the most part. Just as she was about to start walking back she heard someone and then smelled him. She grinned and looked over. "Look who finally decided to show up." She teased the man as she got up, her blonde hair almost shinning in the moonlight. "Did the big bad scary wolf get lost on his way to grandmas house?" She laughed and looked around almost sighing in relief. She couldn't see or smell her friends mate, as much as she was happy for Jace she hated the girl, she and her just didn't get along. But she never told Jace that, she was expendable, his mate was not.

Walking over to him she put her hands in her pockets watching him. "Just us tonight?" They normally went for runs and sometimes, despite Dinah's wishes his mate would join them. She knew Jace loved Scarlett but Dinah missed having her friend around by himself. So she asked the question just to make sure the other female wouldn't be joining them. She tilted her head just watching the other wolf with a small smile on her face. She had missed their late night runs together. She was glad he had come tonight, and without his mate, it would seem to, which made it a bonus for her.

It was the nightly run between two friends; one long overdue and Jace was ashamed in himself for that. Whilst he hadn't wanted Scarlett in the forest at night, for him it was comforting. Finding her through scent, he immediately wrapped his arm around her shoulders and rubbed his knuckles against the top of his head. "Don't make me throw you into the lake...again." He teased, already relaxed in the company of his best friend. At the mention of it just being them, his smile almost was blinding with the joy that he emitted and nodded, his black curls falling in front of his face. "Of course. I owe you one on one time, don't I?" He told her. Even though Dinah seemed to believe he had no idea as to how she felt about Scarlett, he actually knew but decided to not address it. Before his big mouth could comment on such a thing, he stripped of his clothes behind a tree and shifted into wolf form, stepping from behind with a loud thud of a mighty paw. His stature was a clear sign of his rightful place in a pack; as an alpha.

Dinah relaxed completely when he came close and leaned against him smiling. She liked these one on one times when it was just them. She felt safe and though she hated admitting it, he was the closest thing she had to an alpha. So it made her feel safe when she was around him. ”oh hush, you threw me in the lake because someone’s whittle pride was hurt because I beat him.” She teased, playfully shoving him. She watched him shift and she followed suit. Though when she was walking around she acted all high and mighty when she was like this her size showed where she sat. Omega. The smallest and weakest of them. Standing next to Jace she looked like a child compared to her best friend. But their dynamic is what also made them close. He never treated her as an omega, but his equal. She looked around and took off instantly, bumping into Jace on purpose, being silly. She ran through the woods just having fun as she hollowed into the night. Her stark white fur shinning in the moonlight.

Jace shook his head, having stayed completely still when Dinah shoved him which only amused him further. "Like hell did you beat me." He said, almost pouting at the comment and he studied their relationship; being one of equality and lacking control. They were free with each other and that's what made them so special. He shoved Dinah, hoping to completely push her over with a laugh.

Dinah grinned slightly and shoved him back. "I'll always beat you Jace,
its my job to show my alpha up" She teased him. She then fell over and gasped making a whimper sound as if she was hurt. "I'm wounded Jace, you dare injury the great and powerful Siren!" She growled out teasingly. "You can't hurt me! I am an omega! We are unbreakable!" She was trying her best not to laugh as she just grinned widely and bumped into him again. "Omega's are always stronger then alphas" She laughed. "Eh, okay I had my fun. Maybe someday omegas truly will be equal with alphas and not just the weaker." She gave a soft sound between a laugh and a sigh. "So...mr stoic, what happened to you and the girl the other day in class? You two okay?" She asked watching the other wolf curious as to what happened, even though she already knew.

Jace chuckled and shook his head, flicking her with his tail and kicked up the last of the snow in the forest in hopes for it to hit her in the face. "Oh hush up, Siren." He stated and when she mentioned her want for Omegas to be equals, he walked closer to her with a sad whine. "You're equal to me and you know that, Dinah. You're my best friend." He promised her the moment they met that they would always be friends and always be equals. At the mention of Scarlett and their little dispute, he continued walking on towards a stream that ran through his area of the forest and sat beside it, seeing himself within the water. "She said I was a monster and that if she pouted or cried, I'd tear people's heads off. I would've hoped that my own mate wouldn't call me a monster." He told Dinah, not looking back at her and instead hit his reflection in the water, the ripples distorting him.

Dinah gasped when he kicked the snow and she rolled her eyes watching him. When he gave a sad whine she sighed looking down. ”But not everyone thinks like you do jace.” She said watching him slightly. ”Some think everyone else is higher then omegas. I am glad you don’t though, I’m not sure what id do if you thought I was lesser” Dinah then saw watched as her friend went to the stream, following him she sat beside him nuzzling against him slightly. ”Your not a monster Jace. You’ve never been a monster. I’m sure she doesn’t actually believe you are one and if she does well...” She wanted to finish her sentence but fearing Jace may get mad if she threatened his mate she kept silent. ”Plus...mates aren’t always what we expect them to be.” She said quietly shutting her eyes and just relaxing. She once had a mate, one she didn’t even bother telling Jace about hence why he didn’t know about the boy she once called her mate, but her mate separated from her, hence her anger and resientment with the whole mate thing.

Jace despised the order of the Pack and would do anything to make Dinah a pack equal, even if it meant giving up his rank but with the way the wolf instincts work, it wouldn't allow it. "You're my best friend, Dinah. I wouldn't know what to do without you." He commented, leaning down into the stream and grasping a fish with lightening speed. "I have been a monster, Dinah. You and I both know that. I think that's why we're more equals than people know." He stated and nudged her, having once thought the same about mates but something about Scarlett made him feel different so that had to be the mate bond, right?

Dinah nudged him back slightly and watching him sighing softly as she shut her eyes relaxing. "I was just as much as a monster as you were Jace, you know this. If anything I'm still more of a monster then you are" She sighed resting her head on him and just relaxing. "People will never fully understand what it's like to be so different and yet so equal" She whispered quietly before looking up at the stars and smiling slightly. "People never understand something they aren't" She murmured and looked back to him giving him a small smile. "I promise you Jace, your mate will understand you aren't a monster, even if i have to make her understand that" She laughed softly as she looked out to the river watching the water flow.
