Somehow, Hugo had found his way into what was his mother's office. He had finished his exams, and he just wanted comfort. He felt melancholy knowing a couple of his cousins were graduating and that his first year at Hogwarts was ending. Before he knew it, he'd be on the Hogwarts Express back home. Home just wasn't the same.

Hugo took a seat on his mother's chair and laid his head down on the desk. He missed her badly.

Esme had heard the news about Hermione Granger-Weasley and knew that was her friend Hugo's mother. Esme searched all over the school looking for him to see if he was okay and after searching for about a half hour, she had eventually found him in his mother's office. She really should have checked there first.

Esme walked in silently and shut the door behind her and walked over to Hugo who had his head down on his mother's desk. Esme stopped next to him and laid her hand on his back. "Are you alright Hugo? Do you want to talk about it?" Esme asked.

"I miss my mummy."

What was supposed to be a great year had turned sour when her presence was taken away from him.

"Mummy should've been at graduation. Mummy should've been helping me prepare for exams..."

Esme held her friend as he explained what he was feeling. Her heart did in fact bleed for him and she was so sorry for all the pain he was feeling in those moments. "I am so sorry Hugo, but I can guarantee that your mommy will always be by your side. She is probably here right now watching you upset. Your mother was an amazing woman and I am truly sorry that you're in pain" Esme hugged him tightly.

Hugo didn't know how he was going to handle the summer with it just being him, Rose, and dad and home. He just didn't.

"I can't help my sadness. Even my Monkees aren't helping!"

Esme simply rubbed his back, she had no idea what she should do, she never had someone she love die. "I know this is hard Hugo, I wish there was something I could do to help, but I will always be here if you want to cry or talk" Esme offered.

"We could play hide and go seek! But that's always fun with more people..."

He really needed a mood booster. "Let's find my cousins and we can play hide and go seek!"

Esme couldn't help but nod in agreement and smile, she wanted to keep him busy and the best way was to play. "Yes! Lets go find them" Esme said excited.

Hugo got up from the desk and started to head to the door.

"I don't know where they would be..."

Esme shrugged a bit. "Well if we can't find them we can always do something else, that way we're not sitting here being bored the entire time" Esme suggested.

"We could play chess! My dad loves chess, and he taught me how to play it!" Hugo actually didn't know too much, but he was assuming it was a lot like checkers. "My Monkees blocked it out..."

Esme was glad to know that Hugo was getting out of his slump, at least for now now that his mind was occupied. The red head nodded her head. "I would love to play, I am not that good so you might win them all" Esme giggled.

@Hugo Granger-Weasley

He smiled. "Yay! I think there's some sets in the Great Hall!" Hugo, once again, was assuming. Being a first year, he couldn't be blamed too much for it.

@Esme Ventisette

Esme smiled as she followed Hugo, she wasn't that good but she could get better with learning, that much was certain. "Yay! Let's go" Esme was all for it.

Once in the Great Hall, Hugo began looking around for the chessboards. "Where are they?" he wondered as a small frown grew on his face.

"What if they're in the common rooms?!"

That could be it!

When they had arrived to the great hall and couldn't find them and then Hugo suggested the common rooms she nodded but then she remembered something. "Wait we're in different houses" Esme pointed it out.

@Hugo Granger-Weasley

Esme nodded her head, she liked that idea very much. "Okay! Sounds like a deal, We can meet up in a classroom? There are desks so it would be easier to set up if we find a chess board and pieces" Esme suggested.

@Hugo Granger-Weasley

Hugo nodded. "Yeah! We need to figure out which classroom! Maybe the doors are unlocked?"

Esme thought about it before an idea popped in her head. "Maybe the Astronomy Tower?" Esme suggested.

When asked what their backup plan would be, Esme thought about it before smiling. "Charms? I know that's is open" Esme suggested.

He smiled. "That room works! Is the mean professor gone?"

Esme nodded her head as he asked if the professor was gone. "Yes! We don't need to worry about that, now go and meet me there" Esme said as she ran away to go find a board.

"Yay!" With a nod, Hugo immediately ran for Gryffindor Tower.

As Hugo entered the Charms classroom, he wondered if Esme was there. He couldn't find his cousins, but he found a chess set.
