teammates (james)

Albus had been thrilled to hear his brother was rejoining the Quidditch team, and following their life long legacy that they had to uphold. He looked up to his older brother and after coming back late from his rounds he had walked into the dorms, and spotted a familiar face.

"It's past curfew." 

Not like he planned on enforcing any policy tonight.

While the rest of his dorm was sleeping, with Jer on patrol, James was sneaking in some dabs to relax himself for bed. Jer wasn't there to get on his case and narc, so he had to take the opportunity while he could. Normally, he'd sneak out of the common room and go up to the astronomy classroom to smoke by the windows.

So, when he heard someone enter, James was scrambling to banish the evidence. He pulled out his earthy cologne and sprayed it through the room to disguise the smell. James nearly lunged the bottle across the room when he saw it was just Al.

"Fuck sake, Al. I can't bloody smoke in peace?"

Albus had loved to be a little pain in the arse to his brother. It was his job and James liked to stray away, and Albus liked to believe he had a savior complex. "Well you know my savior complex." he commented with a laugh. He loved his family very deeply.

"Are the rumors true?"

His cologne made Albus sick to his stomach.

@James Potter

"I do," James grumbled. "And it's bloody annoyin'. Why don't ya develop a new complex? Jer already got enough of a no-fun complex. I don't wanna deal with yours."

He sniffed the air just to make sure he cloaked any hint of weed in the dorm. He still had to hide his rolling papers. He crossed his arms defensively. "Er, what rumors?"

Albus knew someone had to look out for his brother that wasn't Louis. He didn't tell people how it was and it made him mad a little bit. "Would you rather me be Lou, Lou?"

He was positive than guy slept with a lot of girls.

"I heard your joining the Quidditch team."


@James Potter

Slouching slightly, James glanced down at his legs and shrugged.

"Yeah 'cause Lou Lou minds his business when I tell him to."

But if Al acted like Lou Lou, he'd be unnaturally incapable of getting angry. James wasn't sure if he wanted to deal with that either. It was already perplexing since Lou Lou always being so full of sunshine and smiles. If Al became like that, he'd become convinced that he was witnessing a real life Quibbler headline.

"Er, yeah...?"

Albus spent a lot of his time being a good brother, and sometime wished James would realize that. "I just don't want to lose my brother. I care about you." he commented. Even if Albus was the more favored son out of the two boys, he still loved James.

"What made you want to do that? Thought you hated it?" he asked.

Urgh. James rubbed his eyes and yawned. Maybe he should worry about his own brother more than Jer the way he's freaking out over a sleep aide.

"I dunno, just thought it'd look good on a resume..."

He didn't want to wake his dormmates up over some weed. He was going to dodge that subject as much as possible.

Albus had been looking at James with a bit of a smirk. "Well don't you already have it on your resume. Emery has big plans for the team this year." he said with a smile. He loved Emery and her dedication to Quidditch it was something to admire. "She's the best captain, we have."

"Second and half of third year ain't impressive enough," James pointed out with a roll of eyes. Sixth and Seventh Years were when the recruits started paying attention. He wouldn't accept an offer, but at least it'd prove his point.

Except he wasn't sure what point he was making. It was just too easy to get in an argumentative mood with Al around. James began to fidget with his trouser legs. "How does she compare to the captain I had?"

Albus liked to think that the captain they had saw potential in Emery. "That captain saw a lot of potential in Emery, so trust their judgement. She's a good Quidditch player." he defended.

He knew people gave the Cartwrights a lot flack.

"She's our captain and your lucky she let you on the team." he commented in frustration. He knew Emery for a while and she knew what she was doing. "She is a good person."

Albus didn't know how to describe Emery's leadership, "She is a good captain, she cares about winning, and making Gryffindor look good. She also believes strongly in commitment. She spent most of her summer going camp to camp." he commented. 

She was the most dedicated team member.

"She is going to expect you to bring your best, and not embarrass Gryffindor."


@James Potter

"So, she's like any other captain then?"

Fuck, he desired another dab so badly, but he didn't want to risk it. If Al was back from patrol, Jer was probably going to return to Gryffindor's quarters soon. He couldn't risk getting detention like that since he was returning to the quidditch team.

@Albus Potter

Albus contemplated what James said for a few seconds, "Yeah, because it's her job." 

She did a good job at her job.

"What were you hoping for?"


@James Potter

"I don't fuckin' know. I was expecting to spend my nice in peace, but ya made sure that wasn't happenin'."

James pouted, still disappointed that he had to put out his joint so soon after smoking.

Albus had sometimes felt like James didn’t reciprocate the brotherly feelings. “I don’t care your smoking pot. Just be careful before Jer catches a glimpse of it.”

"Can ya go now?" James asked impatiently. "You could've just asked me tomorrow about the rejoinin' the team rumor."

Albus rolled his eyes at James. “Whatever good night.”

He walked up and headed to his dorm:
